My partner and I recently bought two kayaks from Dick ’s and needed to transport them over 100 miles through several mountain passes on a windy day. On a whim, we bought this kit and we are so glad we did. In the parking lot of the Dick ’s, we were able to install the kit on the crossbars of her Subaru Outback within 30 minutes and did not need a single tool for assembly! Works Great for fitting multiple boats on a rack. If you are going to put one boat on each side I would recommend buying a set of the 15 ft. load straps. If you are putting this on an Xsporter remember to use the Xadapt 3 adapter kit. There is a link to it in the technical specifcations area on this page. Not sure why Jay from a previous review could n't stumble on that. Great Product, use mine all the time and recommend to all my friends.

When I got kayaks I was trying to avoid racks like the J style Hull a Port. I 've had issues with boats shifting, and am not a fan of the design. The Stacker is a simple design that uses the crossbars to help keep the boat in place. Never had an issue with shifting, even on 8 hour drives with two boats. It's also the cheapest Thule option for more than one boat. Very happy with my decision. Just make sure you put the straps on BEFORE you put the boat on.

[ I got this so that I would have an easier time loading and unloading my kayak onto my car by myself. It's definitely much easier than the J hook style of rack. It feels very sturdy and I 've never had any trouble with anything shifting during long drives. The front pads tend to flip backwards during loading the kayak sometimes, which makes you have to do a little maneuvering with the boat to get them to flip back the right way. Otherwise, its great!

I Bought these racks for a 10 Hour trip to North Carolina. these things are absolutely rock steady. The steel Straps that attach to your cross bars do n't slip a millimeter during transit. also the strap guide on the top bar of these racks are great so you can set the strap and fold it up without having to climb up on the car to do so. Very pricey as far as kayak racks go but worth every penny in piece of mind.

For a while now, I 've had one DockGrip and one( competitor) J cradle to transport two boats. I 've always preferred the DockGrip, and finally ponied up for a second. This transports a somewhat heavy boat, but it's always felt secure, loaded easily, and been a breeze to take off and put on each season. I 've never worried about the boat on the DockGrip like I have the one on the J. Additionally, Thule includes a pretty high quality and comprehensive tie down kit. We own a 2016 two door Jeep Wrangler Sport and was looking for a way to carry two Kayaks on top. A Thule representative was very helpful. My setup is the Thule Rapid Gutter Foot Pack, Thule WingBar Evo 150 and Thule Compass carrier. I also purchased four `` hood loops '', under the hood and rear door, to secure the kayak stern and bow with additional straps. We drove 125 miles to a local river and it handled great. Like it so far- we have a Rav 4 Adventure and had to put the rack in the middle which makes it a little harder to get the Kayaks on the roof. It might have been better if we bought two separate units so they could be closer to the side of the Rav. I love this rack! Easy to load and unload your kayak from and easy to strap it down. It's very solid and my kayak does n't move when traveling at 65 mph. No bow or stern tie straps are even necessary when going short distances at 55- 60 mph. My kayak lies flat and does n't allow the wind to push my vehicle while traveling. Compared to other kayak carriers it is also very affordable. I would definitely recommend this rack.

Was easy to install. Be sure to read the instructions. There are adjustment screws you need to use for a snug fit. Loaded easily before my paddle. After a few hours of paddling, I did not have the strength to get the kayak back on. I am a big, strong guy. My kayak is only 68 pounds. Thought I could do it. Fortunately, someone came along and pushed it right up for me. I an going to try it again with the bow rope looped up around the carrier bar. Otherwise, I will only be taking it where I know I can get some help loading.

As a canoeist/kayaker for 47 years, I 've tied/racked/trucked a lot of boats. I can recommend the quality of the Malone racks... study frames, reliable attachment system to the car/van, good padding to avoid damage to the boats, good sturdy straps for securing the racks& boats. However, I have been using 2 sets of the Malone J- Racks which can stay attached to the vehicle but can be folded down when not in active use. Getting the racks folded or back into place is very easy and I think can make setting the straps before racking the boat a tad easier than a stationary rack. I like the idea of calling less attention to the fact I have the racks on at all, also cuts down on wind resistence and noise. For a few dollars more, you should shop around for a deal on the Malone fold- down racks.

Also, my kayak is too heavy for me to lift onto the piece and I had to figure out a difference way to get it on top of my SUV. Did have to tighten the straps after the first 50mi or so, I think the kayaks shifted in some way, then was good to go. Even when the straps were not completely snug the kayaks seemed secure on the rack. Tip, if the blue safety strap makes a wind noise, you might try a half twist in the strap as it spans the tops and bottoms of the kayaks. I did, and the whole assembly rode with no noticeable noise.

Looked on- line for a good kayak rack to transport two recently purchased kayaks at Dick's. The reviews per positive for the Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Rack. I got a good deal ordering it on- line at Dick's with free shipping. My son and I mounted the rack and it worked well. It took about 30 minutes to figure out how to assemble and install the rack. After the initial install it was easy to use. Could install it in my sleep, once I had experience with the initial install. The rack did a good job transporting to a nearby reservoir. However, on the return trip there was a vibration/hum from the equipment on the roof of the vehicle. Maybe it is the angle/positioning of the kayaks on the return trip that caused this noise. A lady pulling a kayak on a carrier kept looking our way, and she asked where I got the rack, and wanted to know how I liked it. She never seen one like it and was interested in the performance, which I gave it a thumbs up:)

This was a cinch to use straight out of the box. I had to drive to the Boundary Waters at high speeds and then on some back country roads. The canoe was solidly placed with the attached belly straps. I had to use a front anchor strap of my own to keep it centered. I would be the only negative I had. Sure beats the foam pads I 've been using for the last few years. It a nice alternative to buying a Thule rack for hundreds more.

Overall, a great way to store your canoe on your vehicle's cross bars. Felt like the price was about triple for what you actually get in terms of plastic braces, 2 straps, and screws. However, it's a well- built product that should last. Have used it twice thus far for our canoe... have a good hang of it now... could probably reinstall/take- down in 10 minutes tops.

I placed this on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with factory crossbars. These worked great for holding a 16 foot canoe. Never moved and protected the vehicle. I would give it five stars if there was a way to lock the mounts to the car( None of the other canoe carrier companies had locks either. ie thule, Yakima) It would be nice if you did not have to undo all the screws each time you removed the mount from the car, but not a big deal. Last year I bought kayak racks from Amazon. Despite having the top ratings and reviews, they did n't even last the trip from NY to Maine. The plastic nuts shredded just from hand tightening. This year I ordered a set of Malone Auto Racks and they were great. The threads in the nuts are reinforced metal and held up to tightening. They did n't loosen at all on the 7 hour drive. The instruction manual also contained useful information on using the straps and tying knots properly. I would definitely recommend these racks!

I bought this set for my 2020 outback and a 10ft kayak. Install was ok, fitment to my crossbars was fine. I wish there was a better way to install the nuts heads and that such nuts are difficult to install without a second pair of hands. All in all, I would n't trust keeping the cradle on the car for extended period of time since the nuts do not have `` anti- back- out '' protection. But for what I will use it for, it is fine.

OK to be fair, I have n't done my final installation( waiting for xadapt12 kit) but can say I love the concept, just not the `` clamps '' that hold the portage padded feet. They do n't really fit an AeroBlade very well( flipped or not). I am going to use Xadapt12 which holds padded foot to AeroBlade by means of T bolt in AeroBlade track.( That's what center hole in padded foot is for.) Expect if to work excellently. Crossroads foot pack and AeroBlades also excellent.

I have used other car roof canoe carriers and found them lacking. This one, used in combination with the Evo WingBar, is tremendously better. The engineering and quality of materials is impressive. I ca n't imagine anything more secure and easy to use.

I am new to this sport but wanted to store my kayak correctly so I bought this product based on others taking the time to write a review. I am using it for 2 kayaks and it doesnt move one bit putting the kayaks on and yes it did take more time to put together than it would of had the parts been labeled with numbers or letters or if the instructions had been in color but it did go together and works great.

I 'm Ray, and I 've been kayaking recreationally for about 6 years. In my adventures I have paddled calm lakes, gentle rivers, and even some light white water. Whether you 're a seasoned paddler or a curious beginner, the Quest Endeavor Kayak is a great companion for your next kayaking adventure. While I am no giant of a man at 5 foot 8 and 175 pounds, I found the Quest Endeavor ’s multi- chine hull design to provide great stability and tracks exceptionally well. I ’ ve rented or owned multiple kayak brands and styles over the years. Typically, I have preferred a sit- on- top style kayak. However, the Quest Endeavor sit- in style has become my new favorite. It includes a mesh framed folding seat, knee pads on the left and right rim, and adjustable sliding foot braces. When paddling in cooler weather, water temperature can be felt through the plastic housing of any kayak, especially a sit- in style kayak. The mesh folding seat provided support for my back and also sat off the bottom of the kayak enough to allow me to stay dry and warm. The Quest Endeavor also provides ample storage. The rear well and bungee straps easily accommodate a cooler or tackle box. The front storage hatch was lined with a nylon bag to keep items dry and secure. There are left and right slide rails that will allow you to attach accessories, a water bottle holder in the canopy, as well as a groove with bungee to securely hold your phone. The Quest Endeavor kayak was easy to carry and load on my vehicle, weighing only 48 pounds and just under 10 feet long. Got my Quest Kayak and tried it on the lake. Would say overall performance is good. Material is very durable. Still kayak is not heavy which is a big plus while loading and unloading. On the water Quest is super stable as it ’s wide and easy to maneuver. You wouldn ’ t fell out or turn over- so could safely continue your journey on the lake or even river rapids. Kayak has a compartment for your staff as well as some space on the back of it. You could put fishing rods in special place on the back and relax while fishing. So with Quest you could just enjoy your time on the water, spend time with friends or family or just go fishing. It ’s good for all of that.

I received my Quest Endeavor in a timely manner with plenty of details provided by the shipper. It arrived boxed and completely intact. This kayak is a recreational kayak that is more suited for lakes or lazy rivers. I was highly impressed with all the included features. It comes with plenty of bungee storage for your kayaking or fishing needs. The dry bag hatch storage is a nice upgrade from most kayaks in this price range. The bottle/drink holder is perfect for a nice bottle to keep you hydrated while on the water and even when leaning or rowing the bottle stayed in the curved holder. The phone bungee with molded slot is nice and allows you to see your phone while kayaking. I did put my phone in a waterproof phone case and tethered it to the bungee for safe keeping in case of a rollover. The stadium seating allows for a good view from the cockpit and to paddle unimpeded. The only downside is the not so clear place to use the seat bungees for security of the seat. I would suggest maybe 2 eye hooks attached to the side of the boat for more security. The padding on the sides for your knees is a nice touch and upgrade. I really like this feature due to having some scrape issues on my knees and legs from previous kayaks. The foot pegs are easily adjustable with a pull and push system with minimum effort. This boat is lightweight at 48 lbs. I was able to move it with ease. The carry handles are a nice length so that you are not straining or hunched over when lifting or carrying which is nice. I paddled for the first time on a windy day on a private lake. I was surprised at the ease in which I was able to paddle against the wind. The boat handled the wind well and still sliced through the water with no issue. It continue to glide for several more feet before succumbing to the prevailing winds. I took my fishing rods out and the rod holders are well placed. When casting I did not feel any tipping or unsteadiness of the kayak. I even cast behind and to the side of the boat without any feeling of tipping. I am writing this review as part of an agreement for the free ownership of the Quest Endeavor Kayak.

I received this bar today and had it assembled in 15 minutes. I attached my J- bars and mounted everything on my Ford Escape within minutes. I bought this to take my 62lb Kayak from NC to Michigan to visit family. Easy to set up on my Escape's roof w/o rails. Used 2 racket ties and 2 bungee ties on front and back of kayak. No issues traveling over 1000 miles each way. Some noise once I got up to 70mph but that was it

I bought the air flow2 58 ” for my Subaru forester. They fit well and easy to install but they were too wide for my liking and they whistled load at a paltry 32mph. I called Mallone direct in Maine. They said that I did everything right. So I returned them to Dick ’s and reordered the 50 ” size. This time I made sure to install the grove rubber strips exactly so there was no space for the wind to catch and whistle. Much better this time. Do still get some whistle but nothing like before. I can put black electrical tape on the TOP stip and that will eliminate all whistle according to what I ’ ve read. Will definitely keep these. Have a friend who has three Subaru and three different brands of cross bars and each has some kind of noise. Even the$ 600 Thule.
