On zappos web site they advertise that the 7742 has gore tex lining and vibram soles, you might want to check on that one. Other than that the boots are really comfortable.

I 'm now looking for a new pair of the 7742, but I see much to my disappointment that the outer sole is no longer Vibram. The part number is the same, but the sole is n't. I wore them in some slush/ice and had no issues. I think they ’ re really attractive. Was worried that the white sole would stain easily and look junky, but so far it ’s been fine. Haven ’ t been in mud yet though. I gave the comfort 4 stars because there ’s a spot where the upper was rubbing when I was breaking them in. It ’s gotten better and I imagine it will go away once they ’ re fully broken in. I ’ m also not used to having that much ankle coverage, so it could be that that ’s affecting me.

First, I ’ d like to share how amazing Vasque ’s customer service is. I initially purchased a differed boot that wasn ’ t hardy enough for the type of hiking I do- Vasque allowed me to return the boot immediately! So instead of going back to the brand I was with before( Scarpa) I decided to stick with Vasque and purchased this boot with my refund money. I am so glad I did. These boots really hold up with all the things the white mtns throw at you with little break in needed. I did need to loosely lace the boots and insert a toe box stretcher for my own needs but the boot has now confirmed to my foot. I fully submerged both feet by mistake several times. My feet were kept dry and warm. I felt my ankles were supported and my boots got more comfortable as my hike went on. I think I used the first 10 miles of the boot to break it in- and I just completed a 20 mile, 4 4000k peak hike in the whites. Zero blisters or hot points on my feet. Thank you vasque!!!

I have hypermobile joints, arthritis in my feet, bunions, and roll my ankles a lot; I ’ ve been on the hunt for the perfect shoe for years so that I could not be in pain every time I walk and this is it! Fantastic arch support( especially with a memory foam Redwing insole), great ankle support( no more rolling ankles), and the fit and construction are perfect. The first pair I bought myself in 2014, side by side with their replacement that just arrived today. Pulled them out of the box and it was like meeting an old friend that hasn ’ t changed a bit. The fit and feel, perfection. Now, I literally hiked the soles off of the old pair. The toes cracked. Laces frayed but original. [ I have hiked 1000's of miles on Asolo boots over the years and had many models. This one runs a tad bigger ue I have always been a 10 in the boot line so I would say it fits more like a 10. 5 but comfortable. Very rigid sole, which I look for in a boot and slightly on the heavier side, which does n't bother me. I did see where someone complained about a stitching clustster were the toungue is sewn together amd that was rather uncomfortable as it sat directly beneath one of the lace locks. I took a pair of flat nose pliers to the material wad.. for lack of a better term.. lol and worked it over a bit w the pliers squeezing and turning wo tearing it! So do n't go to crazy just cruah it down and it solved that problem rather easily. Great boot. Fit is larger. Crush the extra material to soften it.

I sincerely hope that Vasque does n't discontinue the Breeze LT GTX. I 've had a pair of clunkier Vasque's and a pair of Merrell's and these outperform both hands down. I 've worn these in the winter with a thicker pair of socks and in the summer with a thinner pair of socks over the last year of having them and they hold up great in both( although not designed as a winter/snow boot). Hiking summers in Boise desert heat is hard, and these have not once given me a blister, been uncomfortable, or made me question my footing. Everything about them is phenomenal! I recommend them to all of my friends and will continue to buy more pairs. Now I just want more color options please!:)

I bought these for a photography trip to Iceland. As with all my Vasque boots, they fit right out of the box. I hiked on rocky hills and through streams and wet sand beaches and they were a dream. Fully waterproof and comfortable after 12 hour days. Loved they were so much lighter than other hiking boots. Tread on bottom gave sure footing on wet rocks. I couldn ’ t have asked for more!

[ I 've only done about 20 miles in these boots so far, but am VERY happy with them! I read reviews all over the place and decided to follow the advice of ordering a half size up, I will always have to wear a thick sock with them but feel it was still the right way to go. After reading the reviews I was a little concerned about the `` strange arch support '' mentioned by many. I was worried it was going to be similar to Chacos, which I cant wear because of the large arch support, however it's not like that at all and gives more support under your heal( not sure how to best explain this(:) and I find it very comfortable. These seemed pretty stiff at first but after one 5 mile hike they loosened up and feel very similar to a tennis shoe. I do have to mention that the heal box is oddly large, this does n't seem to be an issue for me, but thought I would mention it incase it would be helpful to someone else. All in all I would say if your on the fence about these you should just go for it!

Amazingly comfortable. They make my feet feel loved. They grip well enough that I can step on slimy rocks without slipping. Only downside is they 're a bit warm for midsummer in the sun, but I think that's just the tradeoff for them being cozy in the snow as well as surprisingly waterproof- I 've dunked them two inches deep in streams and the water sheeted right off. My only request is to please bring these back in men's wide sizes- my husband has heard me talk about how great these are but ca n't find a pair in his size!

I ’ ve been wearing Merrill shoes since I was in the Army. I got this particular model in 2010 and it felt like I was Spider- Man humping up and down the Hindu Kush. I also recommend the chameleons! So now that it ’s been ten years I picked up going for long walks and was wearing tennis shoes. I went back to these and love them! The only issue is my left foot toe bed was rubbing but it ’s an uncommon issue and only happened AFTER my eight miles during a cool down mile. I previously did ten miles in these and had no issue! No limping, no true pain beyond having walked ten/eight miles, no blisters. I ’ m happy the quality is still top notch since 2010.

Amazing comfortable hiking shoes that fit like a glove day one. I hiked Yellowstone and put on 85000 steps on them in first 5 days. I did order half size bigger to accommodate the thicker socks. Bought these as soon as they came out for a busy summer. My first adventure was a Grand Canyon Rim- 2- Rim hike in July. 24+ miles in one day. These were fantastic. Perfect in the extreme heat and dried relatively quickly after a few stream crossings. I then wore these on a 24 hour( 42 mile) hike through the mountains of north Georgia. Very hot and humid, and again no issues with discomfort or blisters. Even after wading through several streams. I have over 100 miles in these and my feet were not a factor and I never thought about my shoes.

I 've been wearing Lone Peaks for a long time, and the Timp is even a step up from those other early models. Though I 've had surgery on both feet and ca n't wear a lot of other hikers, these are comfortable in all aspects. Lightweight, not too hot, good toe room, great look, quick to dry. They seem sturdy so far. Two small complaints- wish the tongue was gusseted to keep debris out, and would like a swatch of heel velcro for gaiters. But those are minor issues. I will be buying a second pair to keep on the shelf until next year or whenever these wear out. Highly recommend.

This hiking shoe is so smooth. The weight of the shoe is so light which is exactly what I need with ankle issues. I went half a step up because I wear ankle braces that fit comfortably inside the shoe. I usually wear an 11 in Altra but got 11. 5 to accommodate the ankle supports. The high top hides most of my ankle support which is nice. I highly recommend this shoe for those that are challenged physically by their feet with some mobility issues. For me it means I can enjoy more pain- fee hikes and walks around the city/country.

I bought these for light hiking and walking for vacation. I wore them 6 days out of 7 on vacation and they were amazing. I felt like I was walking on a cloud and they were comfortable even tho I walked over 12, 000 steps a day in them every day. I have an issue with “ hammer toes ” and my toes were perfectly fine in these shoes. Runs a little short, ordered 1/2 size larger.
