One of the best parts of this jacket is how well it holds up in gusty conditions. Even without layering heavily, I could feel noticeably less wind- chill than with my old softshell. Very happy with that. The hand pockets are secure, the sleeve pocket is handy for small stuff, and mesh pocket bags help with breathability. The drawcord hem and elastic cuffs let me tighten things up nicely when wind picks up.

I like to layer up, Large fit me best because I can wear a pull over or hoodie under the rain coat with a t- shirt. ... The best all- purpose jacket ... First off, it's incredibly lightweight, making it perfect for both outdoor adventures and everyday

[ I received my jacket right before a pretty severe storm and I was genuinely impressed of the quality. I was able to stay dry and the material did not allow wind drafts in the jacket. Sizing- I am 5 ’ 9 and weigh 175. The medium fits me well. Not too big but large enough that I can wear a sweatshirt underneath the jacket without feeling restricted. Definitely would recommend this jacket to anyone who enjoys being outdoors whether it be hiking, cycling, or adventuring.

[ I recently purchased the Tactical Waterproof Shell Jacket, and I could n't be happier with my choice! This jacket is an absolute game changer. First off, it's incredibly lightweight, making it perfect for both outdoor adventures and everyday wear. I love how comfortable it feels against my skin, allowing for easy movement without any bulk. Not only is it functional with its waterproof capabilities, but it's also very stylish! The design is sleek and modern, which means I can wear it confidently in various settings, whether I 'm out hiking or just running errands around town. Overall, I highly recommend the Tactical Waterproof Shell Jacket to anyone looking for a reliable, stylish, and comfortable outerwear option. It's definitely a must- have in anyone's wardrobe!

[ This is a pricey shell but I got it with the hopes of wearing as a general outer layer. Its still new but so far I 've been able to wear in mixed conditions( snow, wind, rain) and it has met my needs in all cases. The neck line fits just a little strangely for me but otherwise fit is great( it's wide to account for zipping up over the face). With an under layer it keeps me warm in freezing conditions and remains breathable for a waterproof shell. Also get frequent compliments on the look. Very happy with this splurge item so far.

It is n't bulky at all, and it looks really nice on. ... Very comfortable and warm. ... The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. ... This jacket does not dissapoint, though time will tell for how warm it is once winter starts in full

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.
5
Travis B
This jacket I has an incredible warmth to weight ratio. The reinforced areas are positioned perfectly for use with backpacks and tactical gear. Very comfortable and warm. Packs up very nicely if you ’ re a backpacker and space conscious.
5
Tesh614
Love that this uses a fairly high fill power down( 800+), making it warm and space/weight efficient. I have higher fill power items like MH ghost whisperer UL( 1000 FP), but most UL garments use fragile fabrics and do n't have any weather protection, so they 're really limited to cold, dry weather. The Helium Down Jacket has weather resistance in key areas due to the Pertex Diamond Fuse panels, which makes it more versatile. It wo n't be a great outer layer if you 're expecting heavy rain, but I wear it by itself in a light mist or under a shell if heavy rain is expected. The Pertex panels are a little crinkly, but not as loud as some reviews suggest. I found the sizing to be accurate. This is quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe from fall through spring. Thanks OR!

Have had great experiences with OR gear. Have n't put this to use yet, but zippers and fabric looks like they will hold up through several winters. Contrasting zippers and two shades of blue make this stand out.

[ Great jacket. I have put it to the test and it has held up with no leaks. However, it does run a bit larger on size. I highly recommend this jacket!

[ Packing for travel, you want a jacket that can handle the cold, wind, and rain yet still fit in your travel bag using minimal space. Marmot solved all that with this jacket. I love my jacket! With both inside& outside pockets and even a hood that actually rides well on your head, everyone should take a look at this jacket before spending your money.

[ It ’s unnoticeable weight makes it a perfect item to leave in my bag when I commute to work for surprise showers and and a great to keep in a bag for hikes just in case The durability isn ’ t compromised either. After getting to the top of camels hump in northern VT, it started raining shorty after. Parts of this meant we were scrambling down rocks in a down pour. Theres 0 damage to the jacket!

[[ Employee of marmot] Bought this jacket for a summer trip full of hiking and urban exploring across Norway. This jacket held up and kept me dry through everything that we encountered-- misty, windy, foggy, rainy-- and it fit great layered over a fleece on the colder days. When the pace picked up or we were going uphill, the pit- zips were great additions to help keep me comfortable and prevent overheating. It also packs down super small so it was easy to bring along on every excursion in a daypack just in case it started to rain.

[ This jacket is designed and is so suitable to stuff and pack tightly. The jacket is light and warm enough for a hike with pack. I do n't overheat and with a mild breeze I 'm not effected in the way other lightweight jackets can be. I recommend this for thru- hiking and that extra outer layer of warmth and protection!

[ I 'm 5' 7 '' and about 170lbs. I bought a large to put multiple layers under for alpine use and the size was just about right. A little snug down around the hip area, but okay. I liked the jacket so much that I decided to buy a medium for `` around the town '' use, but the medium was so tight at the hips that it would n't drop all the way down. Had to return it. Fits much tighter than the Interstellar. Otherwise, great shell.

[ Fantastic durability, great jacket. Used for tower climbers in the worst of weather. Seriously bomber and something anyone would be stoked to wear in the worst conditions.

[ Unlike most of the rain jackets I tried on this cycle, OR has the cut right on this, I am 6' 185, so I really should n't be swimming in a L, but most I did, not OR.. Perfect. Thickness suggests it will last.

Erik
[ Fit is superb. Comfort and breathability is awesome. Never a drop of water incursion. However: on the coldest of days, the gustiest winds sneak through. Fabric has seen some ski tumbles with no hint of damage. I think of this as my soft hardshell. So I wouldn ’ t describe it as “ bombproof ”, but it ’s a go- to for anything short of truly severe weather.
$150.00
The inner fabric is extremely soft, so it feels great next to skin. ... The hood is really comfortable, and I 've always been a half- zip kind of guy, but I 'm loving the full- zip jacket
5
Harry
You can never have too many midlayers! This statement is always true, and that is one of the many reasons the Keele Grid hoody is something you should get. I 'm 5' 9 '' 165lbs. and the medium fits comfortably. It does n't have a really technical fit like an r1; it's a more relaxed fit. This jacket is the r1 that you can wear everyday, but with pockets and way more wind resistance. I 've been grabbing this every morning when I leave the house on all these cool Spring mornings. The hood is really comfortable, and I 've always been a half- zip kind of guy, but I 'm loving the full- zip jacket feel.

I am a search and rescue volunteer and climbing wall instructor who spends my time in Arizona and Washington state. Working in a wide range of environmental conditions requires that my gear does the same. I ordered the Keele grid hoody as large, my usual size, and I found it fit true to size. The Keele hoody has performed exceptionally while climbing, traveling, and hiking. The recycled polyester double weave fabric is my favorite feature of the Keele. Its brushed back grid interior is soft and wicks moisture well while the DWR coating on the exterior provides durability and water resistance. Even when soaked through, the Keele kept me warm climbing in less- than- ideal conditions. The three- piece hood functions incredibly well and I found it fit over or under a climbing helmet. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Keele and recommend it as a base or mid layer for nearly any outdoor endeavor.
5
pbetts
I am a rock climbing guide who guides across Colorado and Utah and its important for me to have gear that works well, is durable and looks professional. I was excited for this hoody to arrive as it checked a lot of those boxes for me. The large fits ideally for me at 6' 2 '', 215lbs and long arms. I have a bit of an issue in the past with MHW sizing as it seemed I was right in between a L and XL but this jacket fits wonderfully. The waterproofing is functional if you are stuck in some light rain, as the water will bead right off. The brushed grid interior gives the hoody that cozy feel which means you 'll never want to take it off. It is a lot denser of a hoody than I was expecting but that's a positive in my books. I really think this hoody is for anyone who wants a full zip mid layer jacket but it will find itself at home the most in the backpacks of you Spring rock climbers!

I work as a climbing guide in Colorado, so my work takes me to a variety of locations and climates. My initial guess as to what the Keele would be like was similar to other grid fleeces: lightweight and flexible. The latter is more true than the former. This layer was surprisingly heavy- and I think that's fantastic. It presents a different layering option than other mid- layers that tend to strive to be light. The inner fabric is extremely soft, so it feels great next to skin. I was caught in a mild drizzle and the outer fabric did a great job beading water and not letting me get soaked. I 'm 5'10 '' 165 and it felt just a hair big on me. If it was colder( ice climbing or mountaineering) I would appreciate the room to layer. As the only mid- layer I was wearing it was just a slight bit big, but I did n't find that problematic at all.

Bought this for a recent Rainier climb. Excellent layering piece to pair with my Ghost Whisperer. Good wind protection bit still breathes well during high exertion. I am 6' tall and 195 lbs. The Large fits perfectly. Would definitely buy again.

This jacket is my go to for fast and light approaches, summit pushes, rainy day runs, the ski resort or around town because of it's clean look. It seriously can handle any weather conditions and is super light so you hardly notice it in your pack or on your back. I love the backpack compatible zippers, but wish there was an extra internal chest pocket. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

SETH B A
I used this coat as a great shell layer while climbing the Grand Teton and I would n't wish for anything else! It was perfect!
5
This shell has proven a perfect addition to time in the elements where protection is critical and weight is a factor. I have used this on a several volcano ski missions this past summer and spring. It packs light and provides the summit protection needed when wind is ripping and body temps are dropping. Marmot allotted a good amount of pockets without going overboard and the pit zips provide ventilation that allows you to tune your protection on the move without having to stop to layer up or down. When it comes to rain protection, it's hard to beat Gore. It also vents well for active pursuits.

Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I 've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

[ This Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer UL down jacket is crazy lightweight, warm, and a pleasure to wear! I chose the Dark Zinc color because I think the other colors show the down fill, and do not look as good to me. This jacket has 1000 fill power down, which makes the jacket warm for its weight. Pricey? Yes! Worth it? Definitely! The only real can I can find is the fit. The cuffs need to be much tighter. So n cold gets in.

[ I bought this jacket with the upcoming Winter in mind replacing my previous ten years ’ old puffer. I can tell it ’s going to be warm enough for the E coast winter but what really blows my mi d is just how light it is. Whereas I ’ ve always had jackets that encumbered my movements and I ’ d simply got used to that fact, this jacket feels so incredibly light and form fitting that it ’s going to be a new experience for my winters. [ Amazing high- quality versatile jacket which I bought in the Fall, layered through winter and am continuing to enjoy into Spring. It is very light weight and not the least bit bulky, but regulates temperature very well. It takes up very little space for backpacking and travel. I like it so much I gifted one for a friend( who loves it too), and will buy another in a different color this Fall. A true Fjallraven classic.

I 've had this jacket for a few weeks now, and I 'm pleased with the performance. It's light and compact enough for my needs, and the stretch makes it comfortable to wear even with a pack over it, and when I 'm moving fast. I have the Black version and will use it for hiking in the Pacific Northwest, but also as an emergency shell while travelling for business.

[ Employee of mountainhardwear] Rain jackets are simple things. We expect them to be lightweight, packable, breathable and to not fail. But, when you add simple but effective features like stretch fabric and pit zips? Now you 've got my business. The Stretch Ozonic fits well leaving a little room for layering underneath. Some rain jackets are like saunas for me, so when I start to steam I love having pit zips to regulate my personal humidity. This does it for me.

Nate
Light and very packable. Medium fit well for 5'10 ''', 165 lbs. Loose enough for an extra layer underneath.

This is my first puffy jacket since the 90 ’s with my Starter Jacket. I kinda never liked them until I moved to a colder climate and saw other people wearing this brand and I just really dug the way they fit. They didn ’ t seem too insanely puffy and looked slim fitting. The material is so comfy and I absolutely LOVE the color scheme of bronze one. I did have to size down though. I believe I want to buy a few of the other editions of this color scheme.

I bought one a couple years ago and love it but when I saw they released an all black version, I wanted that one. The sizing is bigger but not in a bad way. I think sizing is more true now, which puts me back into an XL. I ’ d recommend this jacket for sure. It ’s wicked good

This jacket fits amazingly. It ’s not too tight in the armpits like some I have tried on, in fact, there was a bit of space which is nice. It fits slightly long on me, going below my belt line a few inches, which I really like. The hood fits nice a me well, not too big and not too small. All in all, I can ’ t say enough good about this jacket! Go get yourself one 😎

I needed a jacket that would perform in a variety of extreme environments when going inside was not an option. This jacket filled this role perfectly and has kept me dry while exploring the north Maine Woods more recently while hiking through the cloud rain forest in Costa Rica. On a cool rainy day, you can keep warm with all the vents closed and a puffy underneath. While in warmer humid weather, just open the massive vents on the sides and keep dry while still being able to `` breath '' and stop sweat from soaking you from the inside out. It is very weight efficient, easily packed, and well cut for the active user. The chest pocket is also a favorite feature of mine to safely store a cell phone while on the move yet keeping it easily accessible.

The new 3L Fabric is a huge improvement over the older Foray, it's robust, has just enough stretch, and overall is impressive. I was somewhat hesitant as they moved away from Gore but seeing it in person I am 100 percent a fan and it's better in every way. The only improvement, and OR please make this happen, is the branding. Make a Blacked out version without the contrasting logos, that would put this jacket as the best among the best.
