The button to cast needs to be depressed quite deliberately and firm, something my 6 yr old had some trouble with. She loved the color and that it was a larger rod than her previous rod. This is a very nice set. I 'm comparing this to my Or is Clearwater and it's holding up well. The rod is similar in characteristics. It feels a little less sensitive but acceptable. The finish is matte and really nice looking. The price shows in small details. The pieces are not marked for fit and the openings are not sealed. Neither point is really an issue. The cork handle seems a bit soft and maybe a tad lower quality than the orvis. I think this could become an issue over time and extended use. The reel seems fine. Not as smooth as my orvis either but overall very close. Very happy with it. The weak point in my opinion is the line. While I 'm no expert, it does n't feel quite as good. It's definitely functional but does n't have an end loop for easy threading of the leader. That also makes it a bit rough to thread through the rod sometimes. Anyway, of course there's a reason for the price but at that price I recommend this set. On our first outing, my son caught 5(!) Really nice trout vs my 2 on the Orvis. Obviously that's more due to the flies he was using and his skills:-) but it shows that this set works well. All the other bells and whistles are not necessary needed. It may come down to durability in the end.

Bought this rod a week or two ago and it ’s held up. Negatives- It ’s a bit heavy( which I get Bc it ’s main purpose is a catfish rod). Also don ’ t like the clear tip of it, why not make it glow in the dark for night fishing if your already going to make it clear? Positives- it ’s surprisingly got pretty good sensitivity for it being a thicker 2 piece rod. It ’s a pretty strong and it really shows no signs of weakness. I ’ ve caught a bunch of catfish and perch over the past week and the rod has done great. One of the catfish being over 15lbs, it ’s earned my trust. All in all if your looking for a nice, strong, and durable rod for under$ 50 this is a safe bet. It ’s got minor issues imo so the pros heavily outweigh the cons. 4/5 stars

It casts nice and far, and the reel feels solid. The rod itself hasn ’ t given me any issues and is super sensitive. I would just recommend removing the line that comes on it and replacing it with nicer mono or braided. Besides that 10/10!!
