My last pair was over 2 years although they were hammered. Just picked up another pair and fitted them with some custom insoles. Very happy with this boot and will probably pick up another pair in 2 years. The sole wears somewhat quick but thats what you get when it's a non- slip sole that doesnt track mud everywhere. This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. I ’ ve worn Salomon boots for years. Since they dont have the older model x ultra mid boots. I decided to try these ones out. They look nice and seem to have all the features from the previous model. However, they have an uncomfortable pressure point located on the inside middle part of both boots. Which makes it uncomfortable to wear as soon as you wear them. Able to wear them traveling all day and be comfortable but they do make my feet sweat a lot. The green color is nice but impossible to keep clean. I like these a lot: They have a nice wide/not too wide footprint. They have good ankle support. They have great traction. They are very comfortable. The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. But they are perfect for wet, slippery, or dry trail conditions and casual wear. To me, the picture makes them look like they have green trim: They are shades of grey, not green-- I was pleasantly surprised by that, and I think they are a good- looking pair of shoes.

I wear them as daily shoes and they have excellent traction in all the wet and slick spots that are pretty common this time of year.
