These are an awesome sneaker. I love a slip on shoe and these allow you to have a slip on style shoe but still feel nice and snug with their lacing system. The padding around the ankle and heel is SO soft and comfortable. It feels like a tempur- pedic pillow for your foot/ankle. These are great for a trail but also just for normal walks or going around town. My only recommendation for improvement would be that the end of the laces/string bounces around a bit while you are walking. I have just been tucking them back under the laces to fix this but would be nice if there was something on the shoe that could do this for me. Either way, awesome shoe!

I have a wide foot and often boots and shoes are snug so I have to size up. I typically wear a 9. 5 or 10. With this boot a 9. 5 fit great. The boot is light weight and very comfortable. Shockingly so. I have read comments that these are not the `` hard core '' hiking boot type- and thats probably true. But if you want comfort with some warmth and protection from the elements I would recommend giving these Danners a try. The quality is certainly built in. I do get compliments on the boots when I wear them.

Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

[ This Keen Targhee Apex is a comfortable shoe! One of the first things I noticed is how quiet the outsole and midsole were when walking around the store on carpet and cement. They 've since been on a dusty hike and a rainy road- to- trail hike. Nice cushioning, stability, and no dust nor water got inside the shoes. Since these shoes are nearly white you can see that some dirt has stayed in the crease on the forefooot even after being hosed off.( Again, no water got inside.) Fit wise, these have a neutral insole, roomier toebox, and wider heel. To keep my foot from sliding forward and to have a better fit for my heel I will add Superfeet insoles. This shoe runs true to size so I went up 1/2 a size to allow for swelling on longer and hot hikes. Nice shoe. I look forward to seeing how it feels after putting more miles on it.

I just happened across these in a Bozeman MT shop as I was about to throw in the towel on finding a decent pair of hikers. I 'd never heard of Danner before this, but after slipping these babies on I knew it was going to be the start of a beautiful relationship. These took ZERO breaking- in as they were comfy from day one for me. I 've gone on short hikes and just this past summer( I 've owned them for 2 years now), they were my flyfishing wet- wading boots. They worked like a charm on the riverbed and dried out pretty quickly and without any shape change. Have worn these shoes a little over a month. Primarily for everyday use. The shoe is attractive and looks well built. The lugs on the sole are aggressive making it great for wearing on snow and ice. The shoe also has amble cushioning. They can be worn all day with little foot fatigue. The fit is true to size. I wear a medium width. The down sides are for me a little difficult to get the shoe on. The loops that are used to pull the shoe on are too small making it difficult to slide on without breaking down the backs. Also the bungee shoe strings do n't seem to stay tight. These are my first norvan's and they 're running pretty great out of the box. I 've put quite a few kms on this on some crunchy terrain around Banff and throughout the river valley up in Edmonton. The drop is great and not too aggressive and I find it supportive for the running I do. I 'm normally a 9US, 42EU and I found that I was tossing up between the 8. 5US. I would recommend playing with the sizes as I feel I would n't hit it right on the spot with my normal US 9. What I really like is the sole- it's super grippy on the snow and rough ice- compared to the sole on the vertex alpine last year. It has given me a lot more confidence to do my spring and winter runs this year.

I have a hiking/trekking shoe problem( name the brand, I might have 2 pair), and if I had to pick only ONE, to wear every day.. doing every thing.. for eternity... it's got to be this one. Sizing: I 'm an 11. 82, medium. I have the greys size 12 here. Great fit, there 'd be extra room if needed. Toe box remains roomy due to lacing grid, but it's welcomed. Nothing thicker socks/insoles ca n't fix of course if it pleases you. Closest thing to a barefoot shoe that I 've put on and liked. They call this a barefoot and I wo n't put up a fight, but they seem pretty tall( FOR a bf shoe). In any case, it's close, and I do love the grounded feel, but only because the tread is so supportive. Ya know how most shoes are either very technical, or, `` go straight! '' etc etc? These, you 're just kind of, surfing B) What's the Catch?... 1) I 'm aware of some longevity concerns w/ tread, but I 'd imagine the give- or- take goes to the shoe FTW- anything reasonable would be worth it b/c the shoe is that great. 2) I 'd be lying if I was n't a bit concerned about the construction of the eyelets- they give the impression that too many tough yanks will make them angry. Worst case, you can craft some metal loops into the shoes, and gives you a reason to visit w/ your local tailor and share stories:)

This will be very helpful. My foot is 10 inches exactly and this shoe in an 8 1/2 fits it absolutely perfect. I don ’ t have a really narrow foot but it ’s not very wide that you ’ ll have to figure out. The shoe is great pretty waterproof but don ’ t try to keep it submerged, definitely doesn ’ t feel like a barefoot shoe. You do have some soul. It is very thin. I would say extremely light.

Shoes are really attractive and can be worn for casual wear as well as rock scrambling and hiking. Sole was very rigid but became flexible after 2 or 3 climbs. They wrap around you foot like a glove so you feel really secure in them. So far I have not found a surface they slip on. They are very grippy and the sole wraps around to the sides for extra grip and toughness. The toe is square so doesn ’ t squish your feet and you can spread your toes. The outers are very tough and tend to shed dirt. Definitely my favorite minimalist shoe to date. I highly recommend them.

[ I bought these because my old Keen boots finally lost their soles and because I wanted something just a bit lower and lighter. They ’ re sturdy, and they ’ re comfy right out of the box( no break in needed). If you have wide feet and/or bunions, these are worth a try! I will say that the heel may be a bit loose if your heel is narrow, but no issues so far for me. I ’ ve already taken them out for some cold weather backpacking and longer trail days, and they ’ re holding up well, no foot pain at the end of the day or anything.

[ This is probably my 5th or 6th pair of KEENs. The venting makes them a great choice for hikes when water won ’ t be an issue. They took me up a 2700 ’ mountain in the NH Whites right out of the box — no need at all for breaking in. I usually get a size 8 in KEENs but for some reason the 8 felt like I needed a little more room in the toe, especially for going downhill and for sweaty summer feet, so I sized up to 8. 5. Good choice. I love the ample toe box and reinforced rubber on the toe. Even my little bunion is happy.

The waterproofing is great for the slushy winters we get here in the Midwest. I typically wear a 2E shoe, so I was pleasantly surprised when this fit well as a 10. 5M. Took about a week to break in, and once broken in, feels great. The traction is awesome, no worries about slipping on the ice. The shoe makes it easier than a boot to take on and off, but I 'd use a boot to shovel the driveway or walk through heavy/deep snow. This is good for walking on icy roads and driveways. I 'm a big fan of Keen's pragmatic sense of style. The toe cap means I do n't have fear of stubbing my toe. Also, it's a great feature when you kick the tire wells of your car to get the disgusting snow that accumulates that after driving for a while and you wonder if removing this snow actually makes a difference performance wise.( But once it drops it feels satisfying like you actually fixed the car.)
