Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

The waterproofing is great for the slushy winters we get here in the Midwest. I typically wear a 2E shoe, so I was pleasantly surprised when this fit well as a 10. 5M. Took about a week to break in, and once broken in, feels great. The traction is awesome, no worries about slipping on the ice. The shoe makes it easier than a boot to take on and off, but I 'd use a boot to shovel the driveway or walk through heavy/deep snow. This is good for walking on icy roads and driveways. I 'm a big fan of Keen's pragmatic sense of style. The toe cap means I do n't have fear of stubbing my toe. Also, it's a great feature when you kick the tire wells of your car to get the disgusting snow that accumulates that after driving for a while and you wonder if removing this snow actually makes a difference performance wise.( But once it drops it feels satisfying like you actually fixed the car.)

I have a hiking/trekking shoe problem( name the brand, I might have 2 pair), and if I had to pick only ONE, to wear every day.. doing every thing.. for eternity... it's got to be this one. Sizing: I 'm an 11. 82, medium. I have the greys size 12 here. Great fit, there 'd be extra room if needed. Toe box remains roomy due to lacing grid, but it's welcomed. Nothing thicker socks/insoles ca n't fix of course if it pleases you. Closest thing to a barefoot shoe that I 've put on and liked. They call this a barefoot and I wo n't put up a fight, but they seem pretty tall( FOR a bf shoe). In any case, it's close, and I do love the grounded feel, but only because the tread is so supportive. Ya know how most shoes are either very technical, or, `` go straight! '' etc etc? These, you 're just kind of, surfing B) What's the Catch?... 1) I 'm aware of some longevity concerns w/ tread, but I 'd imagine the give- or- take goes to the shoe FTW- anything reasonable would be worth it b/c the shoe is that great. 2) I 'd be lying if I was n't a bit concerned about the construction of the eyelets- they give the impression that too many tough yanks will make them angry. Worst case, you can craft some metal loops into the shoes, and gives you a reason to visit w/ your local tailor and share stories:)

Maybe the perfect hiking shoe. Solid waterproof construction for dry feet on those muddy days. The sole has that minimal feel that allows you to be aware of your footing, but not so minimal to lack giving feet the protection they need. Great traction of rocks, down trees, sand, just about everything I ’ ve trudged them through. Overall a great design. Only qualm is that the sole began to separate from the rest of the shoe a little before it really should have, but I partially blame the wet/rocky unforgiving terrain I usually hike in. Nothing a little super glue couldn ’ t fix.( Maybe something to revisit in a next generation design)

The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. After a horrible experience with the migrating foam in the footbed of a previous leather- upper Merrell, this was a gamble... but so far it's been great. Incredible cushioning, great fit. A few unexplainable hard spots on the uppers noticeable only on steep side- hills. Now on to the desert sand.

Got these in low top. These are great! Coming off a pair of Moab 2 lows for hiking I feel these are a definite upgrade in looks and comfort. I think Merrell hit the nail on the head with the styling, I actually am tempted just to wear these as a daily without hiking in them, I do n't want to get them dirty! They look fantastic with jeans. Also note that these leather ones are more comfortable than the Speed 2 Goretex version... I tried on that pair and the cut outs for the ankle were higher and rubbed my ankle. There is no rubbing on these, however they are slightly heavier than the Speed 2 goretex. I imagine because this uses leather.

Great shoes. No break in period. I took them to Scotland for my honeymoon. Hiked up Ben Nevis when it was pouring rain, feet stayed warm and dry. My only recommendation is to buy more than one pair to make sure they do n't have any weird crease points or hot spots. I had to get 3 pairs in order to find one pair that did n't have hot spots on my pinky toe( weird creasing on the toes). All in all, I would recommend these shoes.

It's a little more `` dressed up '' but also versatile for every day and walking trails. So here is a real review. These shoes are definitely worth a 100 The design and the new pop step in is great as well. Love the new olive colors great arch support. Same materials as the old design. I think the ppl are ready to pay 150- 200 for a more durable design but then again they have shoes for that very reason. These are sneakers and should be treated as such! Love the recraft Merrell keep up the designs if you want to make them a bit more durable we will pay more for that for now I love that there lightweight sneakers and will enjoy them for 2- 3 years. Taking care of your sneakers is just basic knowledge if you want them to last! Olive size 11

Suuuuper comfortable. Bought these for an 8 day trip to Norway. Only 2- 3 days of rain. Feet stayed dry. Hiked 400 meters in the hills. Very comfortable on the climb with great grip. Splashed through puddles. Even after racking up 12k, 17k, and 15k steps day after day, shoes felt soft and comfortable. Not sure how long the sole will last compared to its more rugged counterparts. Lightweight as well.

[ My husband loves to hike long distances 20+miles. These shoes have great potential to assist him on his hikes once he breaks them in some. They have great ankle support with laces that adjust all the way up. The sole of the boot has great cushion support and stability and is very comfortable around the foot. The bottom of the shoe has amazing. Traction which will be great for all season elements. They are waterproof and very attractive design. I got the yellow and black pair and they are sharp! The yellow is more of a mustard yellow and the material is very high quality as expected with the Keen brand. I know want a pair for myself.:) Check out this brand if you plan on buying a quality boot!

[ These boots are awesome! They fit true to size. I have wide feet and they fit super comfortably. They are not tight around my feet, but my feet are not loose in them also. These boots feel like they have a good grip around my ankles and they feel sturdy so I wouldn ’ t hurt my feet/ankles while hiking. I also love the grip on the soles. They ’ re also great boots for walking my 3 dogs and I will get a lot of use both in everyday life and while hiking.

Very flexible shoes. I took them to the Galapagos Islands, and they held out very well on hikes, on boats and are attractive enough to wear out to dinner. They were perfect for the consistent rain in Ecuador. Very easy and convenient to put on. I 'm very happy with them. My only wish is that they worked better with my orthotics. I fit my orthotic inserts very easily into all of my other shoes which are the same shoe size. Not in these. So, I just kept the original Merrill insert in. Totally fine, but maybe a little less comfort.

These are an awesome sneaker. I love a slip on shoe and these allow you to have a slip on style shoe but still feel nice and snug with their lacing system. The padding around the ankle and heel is SO soft and comfortable. It feels like a tempur- pedic pillow for your foot/ankle. These are great for a trail but also just for normal walks or going around town. My only recommendation for improvement would be that the end of the laces/string bounces around a bit while you are walking. I have just been tucking them back under the laces to fix this but would be nice if there was something on the shoe that could do this for me. Either way, awesome shoe!
