I wanted to buy a quality backpack so he can use it for a couple years. Zippers always tend to break off- I ’ m hoping it ’s not the case with this one as well. My son has recently outgrown his Jet18, after many many years of use and adventures. He is a tiny 11 year old, who is too tall for the Jet18, but too small for an XS adult pack. He has a 50l youth overnight pack that we love and the 38 is very similar! Like the 50l, I love that this pack is also adjustable and grows with the kid, allowing several years of use. He is currently on the middle setting( of 3 settings.) It has the top “ brain/snack pack ” that he likes and the inside is roomy enough for his 10 essentials, plus more. Osprey has changed the side pouches to have a fabric base, opposed to their previous mesh side pockets that would eventually wear out. I do wish Osprey made an adjustable back pack like this in a smaller liter. 38 liter is huge for a younger child as a daypack. He needs more than 18l( because his clothes are getting bigger and take up more space) but way less than 38l. I only have a 30l as an adult leader of the group.

Had this item for three weeks and four golfing trips. I have a bagboy quad XL golf cart which fits into this bag. However, if the umbrella holder is attached,( an item that is included with the golf cart), then this bag will not zip close. You must remove the umbrella holder every time you want to put it in the bag. Not a big deal, but constantly removing it, increased the chance of misplacing the umbrella holder or the thumb screw that holds it onto the golf cart. Wife really like it because it has reduced the grass that my golf cart tracks into the trunk and house. I would recommend it with only the umbrella comment.
