I ’ ve been wearing Merrill shoes since I was in the Army. I got this particular model in 2010 and it felt like I was Spider- Man humping up and down the Hindu Kush. I also recommend the chameleons! So now that it ’s been ten years I picked up going for long walks and was wearing tennis shoes. I went back to these and love them! The only issue is my left foot toe bed was rubbing but it ’s an uncommon issue and only happened AFTER my eight miles during a cool down mile. I previously did ten miles in these and had no issue! No limping, no true pain beyond having walked ten/eight miles, no blisters. I ’ m happy the quality is still top notch since 2010.

I 'm on a quest to see all of our National Parks and these were my first purchase. So far we have hiked in Shenandoah( rocky, damp, sometimes slippery) and in Death Valley( HOT! Dry! gravelly, uneven terrain) and these boots have been perfect in both. We got wet in Shenandoah but my feet stayed dry. We got sun- baked in Death Valley and my feet stayed blister- free. These boots are comfortable, nicely padded, waterproof but not stifling, and rugged but attractive. I LOVE THEM. Thirty years ago I suffered a severe mid foot crush fracture which is now arthritic combined with areas of non- union. I have worn Morrell Moab 3 ’s for many years with orthotics and had the best support possible, but the antora has given me amazing pain free ambulation while walking our rural property and roads, as well as while shopping and walking the dogs. The shoes are lighter weight, still offer excellent support especially mid- foot, with quicker and easier breakover which makes an enormous difference to my gait and comfort. Hike 6 miles per day. Half asphalt and half gravel. To Date= 54 miles in these boots. Break in took 40 miles. Cons: 1. Blister: Still have Blister on right heel. 2. Ankle: Inside Right ankle was sore through 40 miles. This was due to rubbing up against part inside ankle padding that attaches outside Hook Eyelet. Pros: 1. Sturdy- No breakdown of any material or stichibg above the sole 2. Comfortable- After break in period of 40 miles, ankle pain went away. Hard to tell boots are even on during each hike. 3. I took these on my rafting trip down the GRAND CANYON. I brought them for the side hikes from the river. Which are usually washes with some water crossings. These shoes did so well! They have incredible traction for climbing over big rocks in dry washes, or on slick ledges. The traction is incredible! They were comfortable right off the go and my custom orthotics fit in then since they have a removable foot bed. I loved these boots on the trip! Completely waterproof over the foot but if water gets up to the mid part where the laces are water does come in. I am going to look for a goretex hiking gater for that.

Bought these as soon as they came out for a busy summer. My first adventure was a Grand Canyon Rim- 2- Rim hike in July. 24+ miles in one day. These were fantastic. Perfect in the extreme heat and dried relatively quickly after a few stream crossings. I then wore these on a 24 hour( 42 mile) hike through the mountains of north Georgia. Very hot and humid, and again no issues with discomfort or blisters. Even after wading through several streams. I have over 100 miles in these and my feet were not a factor and I never thought about my shoes.

I 've been wearing Lone Peaks for a long time, and the Timp is even a step up from those other early models. Though I 've had surgery on both feet and ca n't wear a lot of other hikers, these are comfortable in all aspects. Lightweight, not too hot, good toe room, great look, quick to dry. They seem sturdy so far. Two small complaints- wish the tongue was gusseted to keep debris out, and would like a swatch of heel velcro for gaiters. But those are minor issues. I will be buying a second pair to keep on the shelf until next year or whenever these wear out. Highly recommend.

This hiking shoe is so smooth. The weight of the shoe is so light which is exactly what I need with ankle issues. I went half a step up because I wear ankle braces that fit comfortably inside the shoe. I usually wear an 11 in Altra but got 11. 5 to accommodate the ankle supports. The high top hides most of my ankle support which is nice. I highly recommend this shoe for those that are challenged physically by their feet with some mobility issues. For me it means I can enjoy more pain- fee hikes and walks around the city/country.

I wore them hiking through the local forest preserve with my dogs where there are all types of terrain, and these held up well. They were even easy to clean after getting a bit muddy, too. [ Hiked for a little over a mile in these and they were extremely comfortable. They kept my feet warm in the winter while still feeling very breathable. I also felt there was very good traction and did n't have to worry about slipping, even in less than desirable weather conditions.

[ Amazing shoes! While it ’s not entirely ideal hiking weather where I live, I can still attest to the comfort and breathability of these shoes. I wear them as daily shoes and they have excellent traction in all the wet and slick spots that are pretty common this time of year. They ’ re very breathable shoes, so much so that my feet have been getting a little cold when wearing them outside in the frigid temps here in the midwest. That being said, the memory foam in insoles of the shoes make these super comfortable on my feet when I ’ m going for walks and little treks around the neighborhood. I can ’ t wait to wear these out on my next hiking adventure to really test out their comfort and durability. For now though, I love these shoes!

After breaking these in around the garage, I marched through snow a few times in Tahoe. Definitely comfortable, warm, and dry, even in the melting ice/snow conditions. I should have sprung for GORE- TEX with my previous Moab boots. These fit best with thicker wool socks

The MOAB Speed 2 Gore- tex are very comfortable on the trail. My first use was on an eight mile trail hike. They have a medium firm soul that provides great traction and support on rugged trails. They fit the same as all of my previous MOAB shoes. Great overall shoes.

[ I bought these before a trip to hike Joshua Tree and was impressed with all the reviews indicating they were super comfortable and didn ’ t have to be broken in. So I bought them and have zero regrets! I wore them with a pair of Smartwool socks and had them on more than half the day and didn ’ t have one second of discomfort. I ’ ve recommended these to everyone but remember they ’ re not waterproof.

The only thing that needs improvement is the laces do n't hold that well as they are tied from the toe up, they slide on the material of the boot. I give the laces a lot of tension as I lace up from the toe to the tie. Otherwise a great boot.

[ Been wearing the Vasque breeze since 2016 and never had a blister in this boot. Quality is good, never had an issue. The only thing that wears is the tread which is to be expected from normal wear and tear and backpacking in extremely rocky conditions. Would recommend. I won ’ t wear anything else.

I have been buying the breeze boot for about 20 years now. I would agree that the laces need to be a bit longer so you can double tie them. On zappos web site they advertise that the 7742 has gore tex lining and vibram soles, you might want to check on that one. Other than that the boots are really comfortable.

I 've been through many iterations of the Vasque Breeze, for hiking, search/rescue, and everyday wear. I 'm now looking for a new pair of the 7742, but I see much to my disappointment that the outer sole is no longer Vibram. The part number is the same, but the sole is n't. I wo n't bet my life on anything other than Vibram, so that's the end of the Breeze for me. RIP.

Put them on and immediately can hike in them with NO breaking in ever! Great waterproofing for a year or so; do seem to come apart at the seams though after about 2 years so I replace since I love these boots! New ones though seem tougher. Please do not ever get rid of the Targhee boots!

I have been hiking in Lone Peaks, buy they were not providing the cushion that I needed. I tried the Olympus, but they run small and ended up losing the skin and nail off one of my toes. I recently completed a 300 mile section hike of the AT and also did about 50 trail miles in the shoes to prep. I went across a lot of rock surfaces in NJ, NY, CT, and MA. These shoes served me well and I am glad that they are available, especially in the size( 14) that I need. Thank you Altra for making this product and having the GoreTex version available.

I recently trekked EBC in a pair of them and would like to share my thoughts. First impressions: Light weight. Easy to put on and take off. The Footshape is there. The outsole worked well- I only slipped a few times on extremely loose dirt while descending, but never fell. The infamous ankle rubbing from the stitching is also there, but only when I was trying on with thin socks, so thick pairs of socks are highly recommended. Aesthetic wise, like many here mentioned, the leather parts are black, but the fabric parts are reflective that they appear a bit brownish grey and some parts in dark navy in certain lighting condition. Overall, they worked well and got me through the trek just fine.

These are a perfect fit for my all day hikes in a mix terrain. My foot is well supported. The cushion is just enough. I hate boots so rigid that you do n't really feel the surface.. these are not like that. They are just a touch more then a simple trail shoe which is perfect. Would recommend to a friend with narrower foot than average. I would get these again and again.
