[ I am really happy with this ceiling rack. As I observed from other reviews on the internet, the installation time is mostly in making your ceiling tracks parallel in the right position to hit wood joists behind your drywall. I used more sturdy GRK hardware for mounting to the ceiling. After the tracks are up, installation is a breeze. My bikes have been up for 2 weeks ans I just ordered the two bike expansion for our Thule jogging stroller, too. Although the “ e ” clip hardware is not all that common, it seems plenty study for our two aluminum mountain bikes. It is pricey but overall the convenience is worth it, to me. If I was to install over again, I would put the tracks slightly closer to the walls in both directions. The instructions were a little generous on that guidance. As you can see in my photos, plenty of space to move your bikes if the tracks are too close to the wall. Ultimately i would mount as close to the wall as you can while still lining the holes/slots in the tracks up to your ceiling joists

Happy with my purchase. Unit is not as long as I thought it was. Checked to make sure before purchasing as I have a very long wheelbase e - bike. Would have liked to see tire guides a little higher to prevent the front wheel twisting once it is strapped down. Problem solved by making sure the front wheel axle doesn ’ t protrude past the end of the guide rails. Once you realize there is an order to strapping your bike down the unit works well and holds the bike in a very stable position. I really like the locks on the upright top tube clamps as it makes it extremely difficult for someone to remove the bike from the rack and you don ’ t have to fiddle with pulling out cable locks. Like that the top tube clamps are telescopic; much superior to the Easy Fold rack, with fixed clamps that made carrying two bikes a massive headache. Also really like the lights and license plate position, although it does take a little while to realize your vehicle is a couple of feet longer than it was. No more tickets for having a covered license plate. Bikes are easy to load and rack carries two heavy e - bikes in a stable manner. Recommended.

Love this rack overall. Larger weight capacity, more convenient storing( foldable) and it has locks. Three primary boxes checked! I also like the accessories that are available, making this a very versatile rack! Opportunities: One issue is that it does n't lock in the upright position when your bikes are n't loaded.( I usually leave my rack on my hitch from spring to fall. Not'ny more!) Granted, this `` minus '' is minor because it's simple to hitch and unhitch. I just assumed this would be a default feature on any hitch rack. Another observation is a narrower zone per bike. The distance tray - to - tray is on the EPOS is 9. 5 '' vs 11. 5 '' on my older T2 Pro XT. We have 2 e - bikes, which are pretty big. For this reason, we exchanged our EPOS for the EPOS 3. Now I 'm happy!

Originally I purchased the traditional car bike rack but with having two mountain bikes the fit was just two tight and the bikes were are odd angles. I returned it to Dicks with no issues and purchased this one. It took a few minutes to setup but for the most part it is pretty straightforward. The rack is not to heavy and works very well. It is not a heavy duty as the original bike rack I returned but I suspect it will hold up just fine. If I was to pick out any weak points it would be the plastic adjustment knobs other than it should be fine.

We were needing a system that allowed us to hang our two 12' kayaks on our garage wall, and allow easy access by one or two individuals, when needed. This system seems very sturdy and does not use up more space than is needed to hold both kayaks. The product instructions gave suggestions for best installation distance between the arms, but we wished we had measured our paddles before deciding distance to place the arms.

The rack system came before expected delivery date. More impoertantly it was easy to install and is very sturdy. I have both of my 10 foot kayaks up out of the way now. I also have the paddles behind the top kayak on the rack and rigged another pole acroos the front of the top kayak on the rack to hang our five lacrosse sticks. Very pleased with purchase.

I am very happy with my purchase of the Malone J - dock Kayak& Gear storage rack. Installation was easy. I did use a bigger drill bit than instructed to drill the pilot holes for the screws, and used socket rather than a wrench to make it easier on myself. The whole installation was about 20 minutes. Once installed, placing my kayaks in the cradles took about 10 minutes. The straps to hang the second kayak did not ratchet as easily as I would have liked, and I suggest using your own straps, having help to take weight off the straps while you ratchet them up, or using something under the kayak to hold it up while you tighten the straps. Either way, once they kayak is up and the straps tightened the kayaks are secure and the system is great! I also liked having the ability to store my paddles on the rack.

I already have 2 others, one on a bike packing bike another on my wife ’s e - bike. This one sits on my sweet Canyon GrailON commuter. Every time I flip my Thule back on and start riding I think I am missing something. That something being my backpack that I was riding with. I now even bring my Raingear even if no rain in the forecast. Piece of mind and less weight on the bike… win win win

This is my second time reviewing this product — the first written shortly after misplacing one of the rubber bumpers between the rack and stays while in a frustrated frame of mind; incidentally, the missing piece just resurfaced following a month of hiding between the coils of my apartment ’s radiator. — during the interim I had been using a DIY substitute part I crafted from an inner tube. Yes - the bumpers are prone to falling out when putting on and removing the rack and this is pretty annoying. But the fact is this rack is, overall, a fine product! Anyway, combined my two reviews average a rating of four stars and I would say that this is accurate. Would still be great if replacements for the bumper were available for online purchase but there are DIY workarounds such as using a comparably - shaped section of inner tube. I ’ ve owned Thule racks before and never had issues so I bought this one based on previous experience. I ’ m glad I did, it was easy to put together and its first install on the vehicle was easy enough. I put two heavy beach cruiser bikes on it and it handled the weight easily. Probably could not fit a third adult cruiser on it, but a kids bike could or three mountain or road style bikes would likely fit. Great purchase.

I bought this bike rack a few weeks ago despite some of the negative reviews and I 'm glad i did. It was easy to assemble and install on the back of my car. I needed this bike rack to transport 3 bikes to a triathlon and it did a great job. The bike rack is well made and the 3 bikes were safe and secure. I definitely recommend this product.

[ I purchased my Saris Bones 3 - Bike Car rack approximately 28 years ago and it is still going strong. I usually only carry one bike but would not hesitate to add a second bike. Due to its age, I probably would n't add a third one considering that time and weather may have weakened some of non - metal parts. It's been an amazing bike rack... highly recommend it! My daughter purchased one after seeing how well mine has performed!

I bought this rack to replace a Thule 2 - bike trunk rack that offered no protection against bikes bumping the car. The design of this rack is genius! 3 bikes actually fit well& more easily than 2 bikes on the Thule, and because of the curved design, there is no contact with the car. The fixed straps hold bikes in place securely. I 'm very happy with my purchase!

Saris Bones 3. First bike rack I 've ever owned. So far it's worked out quite well. No scratches on my trunk or bumper. No issue with the mounting onto my car, except that it's a little tricky on the first try. Takes me a good 10 to 15 mins to mount onto my vehicle. Very stable on the road. Rubber mounts on the arms keeps the rack from slipping& helps prevent scratching your paint. The adjustable straps keeps the rack in place. While the anti - sway straps keeps my mountain bike secure. I love how it folds, and can be easily put away for storage. It's well designed and over all a good bike rack. The injected molded frame made with 100% recyclable materials is a plus, since you do n't have to worry about rust occurring. Having a selection of colors to choose from is a nice touch. Be warned though. If your bike has an unconventional frame, It's important you purchase the Saris Bike Beam. It 'll make mounting your bike a whole lot easier. And be sure to carry bungee cords. You 'll need them to help keep wheels from rotating while commuting.;)
