I have been on a quest to find the best yoga mat for hot yoga. I wanted one that I could use without needing a towel on top. I read a lot of reviews, articles, and watched YouTube videos to make my decision. I have used other Gaiam mats in the past and they have been very slippery, so when I first read about this mat I ruled it out. I ended up purchasing a Jade yoga mat. It was great and not slippery, but not for hot yoga. Unfortunately, I needed to use a towel to feel safe. After a while, I decided to buy this mat even though I was skeptical. I am SO happy I did. It is not slippery at all. It is everything I have wanted in a yoga mat! I wish I bought this one right from the beginning. I do n't think I will ever buy another yoga mat! There are only a few downsides to this mat. They do n't bother me, but I figured I 'd mention them. The shiny design is slippery, but I 'm not ever in a pose where this has been an issue. Also, the mat does smell when you first get it. Deep breaths in Child's Pose were not great on the first day, but by the second day after airing out it was already considerably better. Lastly, the Gaiam label fell off on the second day. Im not sure why it would be stuck on with just some sticky adhesive, but I really could n't have cared less. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I was starting to loose hope in my quest to find a non - slippery mat, but I 'm so glad I found this one! Namasté.

I use this mat so far for my flow and foundational. I 'm a larger guy at 6' 3 '' about 250 and very wide at the shoulders. Normal mats do n't get it done, and I 've tried seemingly every mat on the market geared towards the larger yogi. While some have been ok, some have been good except for caveats, some have been done right dangerous! This is the first mat I can honestly say is just right for me. My very first down dog I tried to push myself off as hard as I could to see if I 'd slip. No break in m, no nothing. I did n't budge. My warriors and lunge are as deep as I need, and I feel safe and secure even sweaty. I should have started my search with Gaiam. I 'd have saved literally hundred of dollars.

After researching reviews of various products, I purchased a Gaiam premium mat a couple of years ago. Love the extra width and length. Even though it is considered a thick mat I never had any trouble balancing and really appreciated the extra support it offered. It offers a really good grip, no matter how sweaty your hands might get. Really liked the mat until it started to slightly separate. The top layer was separating from the cushion part of the mat. Researched reviews again and decided I would try a premium Manduka mat instead. So disappointed with the Manduka pro mat. It is very slick and if you tend to sweat at all during your session you will find it difficult to get a grip. I even found myself unsure of trying certain poses because I was afraid I would slip. I noticed that a few people had written about the Gaiam seperating issue and their customer service people would respond for them to get in contact with them. I decided to email them and let them know about my mat and I included a picture. They immediately responded and sent me a brand new mat! Who in the world offers this type of outrageously great customer service? I can tell you who, GAIAM!

It ’s more expensive than your average mat, but it ’s the one that has performed the best for me. It ’s tacky and holds up to heavier use( i. e. hot yogas and/or bikram). It is higher maintenance than your cheaper,$ 10 mats, but those mats also don ’ t last very long and contribute extra to the landfill. I ordered the Manduka Prolite( 5. 0mm), the Jade Yoga Fusion( 7. 9mm) and the Jade Yoga Harmony( 4. 7mm) mats. Spending this much on a mat I wanted to make sure I would be happy with what I ended up with. No doubt this is the best mat for me. The mat is heavier than the others but there is no slippage and the extra cushion for my knees makes it the best choice above others. For the record, I would have chosen the Jade Harmony over the Manduka Prolite if the choice was limited to one or the other of those two.

I 'm 5` 10 and glad I dropped the extra$ 10, but do n't think my wife would need the extra length. I was tired of my hands slipping in down dog while using a Gaiam mat. I tried a matymat from Amazon but the material would literally stretch while you were stretching. I did a fair amount of research online which led me to this mat. It is truly the Rolls Royce of mats. I wish it would have come with a carrying strap in this price range but it is still worth the money. I would recommend to just splurge on it and never have to buy another mat again.

So I did n't actually buy this for a yoga mat I bought this for my gym bag and my camping supplies. Most microfiber towels range between 10 and$ 80 depending on the size that you are looking for and it is harder and harder to find a decent microfiber towel that dries quickly for bigger dudes. I do ultralight camping kayaking and things like that plus I go to the gym every other day. Having towels that dry in minutes instead of being soaking wet in my gym bag is exactly the kind of thing I need in my life. This was more expensive than I would like but with this single towel I can get all of my hair and my entire body dry and as long as I do n't ball it up and shove it into the bottom of my bag if I just hang it off of the locker while I 'm getting dressed it is mostly dry by the time I am ready to leave the gym. Also this is only the fourth one I have ever bought and I bought it to replace one that got torn up while camping, and I have had them since 2012. More expensive than I would have liked to have paid but I will more than get its use by the time that I have to replace it.

I just got my mat this week and I could n't wait to practice on it. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful and the thickness of the mat is very comfortable. I know you are `` supposed '' to wait to `` air it out '' but I could n't. I hopped on and practiced. it felt great. I have been practicing yoga for 9 months and had a beginner mat before and decided to upgrade( I deserved it). The only thing that irks me is that when I practice, it seems like the mat feels a bit slippery. It makes me kinda nervous I will slip. Other than that, just looking at the mat when I come home makes me want to practice.:)

[ I bought this mat for travel, and it's awesome. I wanted it to be thin enough to fold for easy carry - on, and grippy enough that I did n't slip when I get sweaty. [ This is my second eKO SuperLite Yoga Mat. I keep one in my office for lunchtime yoga breaks, and the second goes backpacking with me. As it's lightweight, it is n't as well cushioned as my heavier Manduka mat, but it has excellent traction and folds down so packably small!

This mat provides better grip than Manduka ProLite yoga mat. It is a bit heavier than the Manduka ProLite. However, when I carry it in my sling, I can not feel the difference.
