I liked the leather uppers and stainless steel blades which were well sharpened out of the box. Stainless steel is harder than other steels and does not rust. The fit was great, but order a size smaller than your normal size. They are easy to skate on and well balanced, tho I am a beginner skater, I do love these skates. Good job Lake Placid.

I 'm a beginner skater and invested in some skates since I live near a rink now and can go skate at least three or four times a week. I tried out various skates( including the less expensive Lake Placid Cascade skates) before I settled on the Alpines. These skates were far superior to any of the others. They are sooooo comfortable- even after skating for a couple hours. The memory foam lining of the boot also feels like it's molding to my foot. Great ankle support and the leather boot was worth the extra money( the Cascade skates are plastic/pleather). I highly recommend these if you 're looking for a good, affordable pair of skates. A note about sizing: I wear a 9. 5 and the size 8 fit great.

The 9's were about an inch too long. I decided to try my daughter's on and they fit well with room for comfort. The original skate was too small I got online with Dick's Chat line and within a few minutes a return was processed and a replacement skate was ordered in the correct size. I received the replacement skate in 3 days and the return slip was emailed to me the same day. Dick's went ahead and shipped the skate without me having to purchase the same pair and before they received the incorrect pair back in stock. The problem with the men's skates they did n't have toe picks and that was what I really missed. My son is a ice skater and ge uses these everyday. We have several pairs and the hold up very nicely. Hrs never had holes in the knees but over time the knees get worn where the color bleeds out and we replace them only for looks. Great pants. Loose fit. Warm and durable. I highly recommend.

Fits great. I completely forget about the neckguard like two seconds after putting it on. I love that it doubles as a baselayer and the sleeves over the elbow pads is a fantastic feature. The price is also pretty great especially considering the other options that are out there at the moment.

I like the material, which was comfortable and kept me from overheating or getting clammy. The shirt was long, so I could comfortably stuff it in my my compression jill and there was no ride up at all. I am kind of stout, but very short, so I 'm not sure if getting a size small would 've been too much compression, but the fit still works. I 've never worn a shirt with a neck guard, so I had to practice putting that in the proper place. I wish the instructions were more than a small diagram. I will very likely get another one.
