It actually feels cooler than the REI Sahara hoodie by 2- 3C, even though they 're both the same weight. I think this shirt has better thermal conductivity. It also absorbs sweat faster which helps increase evaporation. You can check by dunking both shirts into a tub of water. I felt much more comfortable with this in 30- 40C temperatures with high humidity. I can feel the difference under a helmet. It's more stretchy, and greater horizontally compared to vertically so you have to be careful not to stretch it too far in order to keep it's UPF protection so I wear a loose fitting size. The fabric is n't as durable as the REI Sahara, as it has more pilling after a few months of wearing 2- 3 days a week. The wrists seem to be more stained. It has more facial coverage along the neck and side cheeks near the ear because it has a smaller opening for the face. It's a round opening so it sits fairly symmetrical compared to the REI Sahara which has an overlapping stitch at the neck that causes the hood to twist to one side. It does n't have a drawstring but since the opening is smaller, the wind does n't really blow it off, unlike the REI Sahara which needs it's drawstring to be cinched to resist the wind. The only benefit of the REI Sahara is possibly greater sun protection from the side rear angle due to how the hood drapes, but less protection from the side front angle; cheaper price; higher durability.

I wear the echo line of active wear when I 'm working out of fishing. The level of cool I get from wearing the ActiveIce appearal is unlike anything I 've tried before. It keeps me cool and I 'm not sweating as much as I do with the echo fabric. It does come with the trade off of being a bit heavier than the echo and not as breathable feeling since it's a thicker fabric. I will choose to wear the echo fabric when it's a cooler day doing a lot of activity and the ActiveIce fabric when it's really sunny and warm.

I love it! I am really specific about sun shirts because I live and work on boats and wear a sun shirt most days. Full disclosure: I have tried the Crater Lake and Sunshadow before this and really did not like them. The Crater Lake is 1) kind of soft and does n't breath as well as this one and 2) had sloppy sewing so the sleeve hem unravelled after a couple months of wear. The Sunshadow was low stretch and super restricting to wear and the fabric stained really easily. This* Sunblocker* is amazing. The fabric is super quick drying but not scratchy, the sewing is really neat, and the fabric is stretchy and not restrictive. I sized up from S to M and am glad I did. I personally love the crop. It still protects my whole back, even when I bend over, but is n't too long. Overall, I 'm really happy with it!

I 've had over a dozen different sun hoodies since they became popular. For Me, this is the best one overall by a wide margin. While some may feel more 'woven', and others more 'plasticy', this one seems to be the best of both worlds providing comfort and protection. It is very soft to the skin, and the material sort of 'hangs' on you without feeling 'clingy'. It has plenty of stretch, but does n't feel like a set of drapes. So far the shirt seems to be retaining it's shape /size perfectly. Interesting enough, I wore it under a hoodie on a cool damp morning... casting really hard, I got too hot for the hoodie, but was reluctant to take it off. Finally I did due to sweating and was very surprised at how well this shirt regulated my body heat. The sweat evaporated quickly, and the shirt provided a nice light layer of protection from the cool damp air and light south wind. Once the sun came out the shirt really shined. Sleeves are plenty long, and the wrist/ hand coverings are a nice touch in case you forgot sun gloves. The hood is fitted nicely, proving excellent coverage while not being obtrusive. I chose the 'Neptune' color and I like that it is understated and does n't scream 'SUNSHIRT!!! If I had to nit- pick one thing, the closure button of the hoodie is a little challenging to snap closed with old worn- out fingers due the material being so soft and light.. but that's really minor. This shirt is SO warm and comfortable. The built in hood/mask is great. I wear it as my base layer skiing and it keeps me cozy, and covers my mouth/ nose perfectly. My only complaint is the sleeves are a bit long so I fold them back for under my coat.

It's pretty tight but I used it as a base layer so that was fine just uncomfortable to get on at first. Hood and gator both came all the way across the face and stayed. It was a perfect addition to my base layers. I do n't like balaclavas or buffs because I still feel a breeze on the back of my neck

Like some other comments have identified, this is a tighter fit so size up from your typical OR size. I am a 32B, 5' 7 '', and 118 LBS and I got the size S and it fits perfectly. I purchased this hoodie for sun protection on a recent 9- day backpacking trip. I bought the light grey colour because I thought it could double as bug protection, since the mosquitoes were horrendous. I really liked how feather- light it was, it dried fast and the hood was great when the bugs were fierce. Furthermore, all the bug/blood/sweat stains cleaned up nicely after the trip and it looks good as new! As for durability and wind- proofness, I will bring it on my next two canoe trips this July and report back:)

Quite happy with this version of the Astroman! Still the same great sun protection and durability but the material seems lighter/faster drying somehow. Not sure how they managed that without sacrificing durability but so far it's held up beautifully! I 'm a sweaty hiker and it's pretty amazing how little sweat this shows and how fast it dries. This lil hoody is also extremely packable- have taken it on quite a few birding/hiking trips and long days bike- packing. I plan to take it to AZ this weekend for a friend's bday trip to really put it to the test( I 've been using it in Idaho thus far). Also- LOVE this pink color. I would buy anything and everything in this pink, so dang cute! I bought a Small and Medium and I 'm keeping the Medium- I 'm 5' 4 '' and about 140- 150lbs( 30 '' waist and 40 '' low hip, aka most of my weight is in my booty/thighs). The small fit fine, but I prefer a looser fit for layering and breathability:) And because this is a sun shirt, looser fit is best for the fabric to keep out sun rays, anyways. The ONLY thing I would change about this: please move the pocket to the chest or somewhere more useful. It's on the right hip and goes backwards which is strange and not natural at all, I really dislike it. I 'd prefer it be on the chest( like the men's version) or even still on the hip but a zippered drop pocket( like the Freewheel Hoodie).

I took this shirt with me for walking the Camino in the early fall( ~35C on the coast with no shade). I 'm very sensitive to heat( due to both MS and some of my medication), but after soaking this shirt in water, the combination of the quick evaporation and the UV protection was enough to keep me comfortable even at noon. It was great to be able to skip out on sunblock and still not end the day looking like a tomato. I work as a construction project manager in tropical Costa Rica, this shirt is nearly perfect. It's light, it shields you from the sun, and the reinforced stitches makes it durable. The downside, this type of fabric forces me to wash it everyday after work to avoid odor from sticking. I would love to see this very design but with wool, the hoodie is a must for warm climates.

It's been a beautiful spring so far here in the PNW; cold in the mornings, but still kind of chilly in the afternoon. This hoodie is perfect for this weather. Huge fan of this! It's a go to for slightly warmer to hotter temperatures. It's comfortable and feels far more breathable and quality than alternative sun hoodies on the market( REI Sahara sun hoody) Also, the protection I get with it from the sun is amazing. The hood is more oversized so it's easy to wear over a helmet or to sorta pull to the side to provide extra protection from the sun-- even when you 're just driving and there's bright sun coming from the side window. I own two and am dreaming of a third!
