The cup does hols cold water for a long period of time. The cup can be used with or without the straw. when the cup is filled with ice and your drink of choice, it does get a little heavy to hold. There is no handle.

We LOVE these bottles in our house. Each kid has 3 and they ’ ve held up so well. I just got their 3rd ones engraved and I wish I had done that since the beginning.
