** Review of North Face Surge Women's Backpack** I recently purchased the North Face Surge Women's Backpack, and I could n't be more pleased with my choice. The quality of this backpack is outstanding; it feels durable and well- constructed, ensuring it will stand up to daily wear and tear. The backpack is exactly as advertised, with a sleek design that is both stylish and functional. I appreciate how lightweight it is, making it easy to carry for extended periods without any discomfort. One of the standout features is its spaciousness. It fits my laptop, water bottles, and folders effortlessly, allowing me to stay organized and prepared for any situation. The various compartments and pockets are thoughtfully designed, providing ample storage while keeping everything easily accessible. Overall, the North Face Surge Women's Backpack combines quality, functionality, and comfort in a way that truly meets my needs. As a smaller sized gal, I 've struggled with daypacks feeling too big and bulky. The 18L was my goldilocks and is such a great size for a casual hike or wandering around town! There are not a lot of pockets, but I actually prefer a simple pack. My favorite part of the pack is the chest and hip straps that make the bag easily adjustable.

This pack is the perfect trail companion! I 've gotten to take it out both XC skiing and on some winter hikes and it's the perfect size for an extra layer, snacks, first aid kit, and any other gear you might need on the trail. I love the magnet strip on the water bladder that nicely holds the bladder straw in space when not using it, and easy to drink out of while on the trail. The pockets are well thought out and easily accessible. I do wish the side water bottle pockets were a little larger to fit my nalgene, but definitely not a dealbreaker since it has the integrated bladder.

Spent three months backpacking in Europe upon my retirement, at age 65, with this wonderful Osprey backpack! We traveled in all kinds of weather and used all modes of transportation! Also, have been backcountry camping in Canada, California, and Colorado! She still looks new after a busy 10 years on and off the trails! I am currently looking to downsize to a smaller Osprey backpack…walking the Camino in a few months! Only an Osprey works for me!!

I 've had this pack since 2006. It's been on many adventures with me, from backpacking in Canyonlands to training hikes in Teluride to travel through Taiwan. For several years, I used this bag for grocery shopping and going to the laundry mat, when it was often 70 pounds. It's so comfortable that even fully loaded, I can easily dance while wearing it. This pack has survived bear attacks, rain storms, deserts, baggage handlers, and having its capacity tested endlessly. After 15 years, I 've noticed the first sign of wear- a small tear in a seam. I 'm happy with the longevity of the product, and I 'm heartened that I can send it to Osprey for a professional- level repair for just the cost of one- way shipping. The All Mighty Guarantee is one reason I 'm so loyal to Osprey- they did a fantastic job repairing bear damage, and they quickly sent me a set of replacement buckles after I damaged one of mine. I love how comfortable the hip belt and harness are, partly thanks to the high degree of adjustability. If it every gets lost or stolen, I will happily buy the same bag. I barely notice my bag while I 'm hiking, meanwhile my hiking buddies complain about how uncomfortable their similarly priced non- Osprey packs are, or say how happy they are to get them off. I do n't mind how the weight gets divided on group trips, because I know my pack can handle adding on the tent, carrying more than my share of food, and having a few liters of extra water. If you 're looking for a comfortable bag that you can use in a range of circumstances for decades to come, look no further than the Osprey Ariel.

I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13- 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground- good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key. I will call regarding this. Otherwise- highly recommend this pack. So light, so comfy, so kind to my body after a long haul. Thank you.

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

Have yet to put this item to use, but plan on taking it on our upcoming trip to Iceland next month. I have already packed most of what I will be needing. Between my carryon suitcase and this back pack, I have more than enough packing space! My favorite feature is the day bag that attaches to the front of the main back pack. This will be perfect for day hikes to store water and lunches in without having to carry the full backpack and add the extra unnecessary weight. Material seems to be durable and water resistant, which is exactly what I need for the type of traveling I will be doing.

Every centimeter of the Thule Landmark backpack is designed and crafted with intelligent thoroughness. All the people who brought this product idea to fruition deserves an instant bonus and/or promotion. There is no backpack I ’ ve owned that is as exceptional as this product. The first brilliant innovation, the dual- pack system which can attach to both back and front, is not only aesthetically awesome, but also very useful for times I don ’ t need to carry many things with me. I love every aspect of the design. It is obvious upon the first few moments of examining the bag that a lot of effort went into this product, and the quality speaks for itself. The zipper locks, the hardtop case for electronics and sunglasses, the backpack strap pockets which buckles tuck into, the quality of materials, and the way in which everything seamlessly fits together is amazing to me. I ’ ve owned Osprey and Eagle Creek bags( which are not companies to scoff at), but Thule really outdid themselves with this product design. I am very satisfied with my purchase, and look forward to everything else they have in store for the future. Please keep up the phenomenal work!! Merry Christmas and may God bless your team.

I researched bags for our upcoming Europe trip for quite some time and Thule was always my top pick. I bought 5 of these bags for a bucket list trip to Europe for my family. When I received my order, one of the zippers on the small pack was broke. I sent a warranty request in. They ended up sending me a complete set, the 40L and the 20L. AWESOME!! I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

[ I bought this about a month ago and have done two backpacking trips, it is one of the best backpacks I 've owned so far. Osprey really has outdone themselves, especially with the front opening compartment. Easy access for everything and fits so many things in it as well. Easy to clean and the straps do n't hurt as bad as other brands.
5

[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.
5
Aura
Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

Finally a large woman's specific pack! Thank you Osprey! I have been using men's or unisex packs my whole life until last year. What a difference specificity makes! This pack is so incredibly comfortable you do n't really know you have it on. I am certain I will be able to travel more distance without fatigue with this pack. Six pounds for the M/L may seem like a heavier pack, but the infrastructure and material is worth it. This pack will be my only pack for multi day trips! Thank you.

[ I just used this pack for a week of day hikes( 10 to 14 miles each day). I could not be happier with it. I have the small size, and it fits my 4'11 '' torso well. The hip belt sits properly, and the weight balances nicely. I was able to comfortably carry more weight than I expected, and I felt stable going up and down hills. It was great- I trekked along without having to think abut my pack. My favorite part of this pack is the shoulder straps. They are much softer and more flexible than other packs I tried, while still getting the job done. They adjust easily. They 're shaped nicely and do n't dig anywhere! The shoulder straps are often miserable for me with my small shoulders, and these are a dream. The cell phone pocket on the front of one strap is genuis, and I put my sunscreen in a corresponding pocket on the other shoulder strap. And I 'm a huge fan of the bungee system on the back- very handy. Try out this pack. Seriously!

` I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who has n't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7- 8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area- a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. Never had to use the internal rainfly, but that was definitely a selling point for me. Highly recommend!

This daypack is a well- rounded minimal travel daypack. One large compartment that is expandable. Folds down flat so it can be packed. Comes with a couple of well placed straps for compression and stability( sternum strap). The bottom is made of a more durable material. It's not too hard to pack and make this backpack stand on its own. Looks great too! Small con: bottle side pockets can be hard to use if pack is full. Maybe stretchy side pockets would work better. Would suggest Fjallraven team explore two- tone color options in the future.

I grabbed this with the intention of it being an addition to my bike set up. I was torn between this bag and the Abisko Hike Foldsack but decided upon this one because it rolls up and can easily store on my bike during transit. [ Does what it needs to do. A little awkward on the interior to make room for the shoulder straps, but the shoulder straps are a game changer once you pick up your checked luggage. The red interior is striking.

There are very few options for a carry on back pack and this one is just right! I use compression bags as well to really keep my things organized and fit into this so I have no need to check bags any longer. I also really appreciate the strap buckle attachments so I can attach another day pack on the front. Awesome and thank you for this pack!

Purchased from an Osprey dealer. Use for snowboard trips. Have 2 big gear bags to check in and switch to a roller after check in. I 've had a few backpack rollers and there needs to be an expectation you will lose a little volume with the backpack feature. Pros: lightweight, storage space is maximized, squared off, robustly built, backpack shoulder strap and belt comfortable and well built, sternum strap, like the frame, easy to roll and pull. There is no laptop sleeve, but look at that as a positive. Last backpack roller, laptop compartment consumed so much volume, had to cut it out. Took on a snowboard trip to Japan and worked great. After past roller backpacks, decided to pay for quality, researched a lot of these. I also bought the Farpoint Travel Daypack to piggy back on if I needed a more volume. Can piggy back or wear, clip onto your chest. Worked out great with my check in luggage overflow. Only con, which is minor, is maybe some external pockets to put small things or documents in. Still a bit fuzzy on the difference between the Farpoint( for men) versus the Fairview( for women) models.

I have this as a backpack and I love it. I am still in high school and I honestly could n't want a better bag. In my opinion it is a little small for all the stuff I had but not too bad. I love the look of it, the skinny cute bag is so nice and i love the light blue on gray. The side pockets are a bit small for all water bottles but most of the time i do n't have a hard time pushing my bottles in. The wire on the side though makes it hard sometimes but u just have to make sure you press down and not out.

[ Good pack. Suits my needs well. I like to do a lot of photography and have been dissatisfied with even photo packs meant to go long distances. I never felt the suspension was very good. [ First off, the open front flap makes accessing my gear at the crag so easy. The built in rope tarp is lightweight, incredibly sturdy and just the right size( i use a 70m rope). I like how breathable the straps and back are even though that is not the main thing that I enjoy about this hard structured, EVA- molded backpanel with HDPE framesheet allows me to carry just about any weight on my pack up any approach, steep or long without being bothered. There are other wonderful key features of this bag but hats off to you Osprey. You guys made an excellent climbing pack.

[ This bag is the perfect size and functionality for a long crag day. The straps and hip belt are perfect for harder approaches and the zipper/duffel double feature lets me grab whatever I need without having to empty the whole thing. Nice side pocket for bladder/bottle too. Highly recommend!

I had been looking to upgrade my weekender/diaper bag/under- seat bag. I travel across the country with my two small children regularly, and frequently do Thursday- Monday trip on my own. Kids and I usually only take roller bags and backpacks. I had been frustrated with the design of my normal backpack, as I felt I was always losing things to the bottom of the bag. I was able to configure the things that I knew I would need, and grab them easily without having to unzip the whole bag. It fit easily under the seat, stuffed full. If I were to travel on a budget airline, I would probably not stuff it full, since the dimensions are a little big for that. For my solo trips, I brought only this backpack and a small tote bag. I traveled on a train, to a plane, to another train. I ’ m a bit of an overpacker, but was able to fit more than enough clothes for all the days, and some extra creature comforts. It was a little heavy when fully packed, but that ’s just physics. One of my friends even commented on how impressed they were that I got everything to fit into that bag. I thought I would need to get a smaller water bottle, but I fit my 40 oz Owala in the water bottle pocket with no problems. I liked the waist strap and the chest strap. The zipper pockets within the backpack are great, allowed me to stay more organized when traveling than I usually am. I fit three iPads in the laptop compartment. The other bags I was looking at had a laptop compartment that unzipped all the way, and honestly, as a forgetful person( I. e., someone who might forget to close the zipper all the way) that looked really dangerous to me. The laptop compartment zipper has a small piece of fabric at the top that helps to hold the zipper in place, making me feel extra secure. The front pouches are really useful, I put gum, wipes, and chargers in there My only problem with this bag is that the zippers are a little sticky, but I always got them to close. Really glad I decided on this bag, it has made my travel experiences a lot easier. Feels like a sturdy, well made bag. I will eventually be going camping and plan to take this with me.

I needed a mid- size bag for a full day of multi- pitch climbing, crag hopping, and lots of hiking in between. Priorities were lightweight, supportive, wearable while climbing, and water bladder compatibility. This bag fits the bill on all of those and is built to comfortably accommodate a harness while being to easily access gear. Where it missed the mark for me was that it's built for a male body. I tried as many adjustments as much as possible but as a 5' 4 '' '' female I could n't get the right fit. I hope osprey recognizes an untapped market and creates female versions of these technical bags some day, like they do for hiking bags!

Bought this pack for a short backpacking trip on the Napali Coast. I have lower back pain so I needed a pack that distributed the weight very well. My pack was about 30- 35lbs and I made it the entire trip without any pain or even soreness in my low back. It was quite incredible considering the many elevation changes- I 'm definitely impressed. I will say that toward the end on our hike out my shoulders began to cramp up so I had to do some adjusting to the straps but I think it's just I did n't have it set right. I really really love this pack and it's worth the investment!

Also, have been backcountry camping in Canada, California, and Colorado! She still looks new after a busy 10 years on and off the trails! I am currently looking to downsize to a smaller Osprey backpack…walking the Camino in a few months! Only an Osprey works for me!!

[ Our first packaging trip, and it was perfect! I tried on a few different packs, and this one was by far the most comfortable. Though it was uncomfortable under the straps at times, as I suspect they all would have been considering the weight I was carrying, I did not have any pains or soreness after removing the pack. Alsp, lots of pockets for organization and places to attach items to the outside of the pack.

Bought one in 2015. Used it for absolutely everything, usually climbing, and only after several canyoneering trips has it finally gotten so many holes it was time. Canyoneering destroys packs. Not the most UL. And that ’s good. Carries all things. Durable as F. I ’ m scared of new versions of favorite old gear- but oh my god the 2023 actually has loads of helpful improvements. 10/10.

The pack is lite& compact yet holds what I need for multiple adventures. In addition to ice climbing I can use it for day hikes/ trail runs and back country or alpine skiing with enough attach points to carry a pair of skis or miscellaneous gear when needed without excessively restricting mobility.

Huge fan of my new bag that has become the perfect single day ski touring bag. It ’s got just enough space for a single day movement and has plenty of attachment points for for whatever you need. Big fan!!

Much better and lighter than previous speed models. I like the fabric and it has a lot of straps for carrying bigger loads into the mountains and then stripping it down to a lighter climbing pack. I really like the top closure system. Could do away with the velcro for securing the lid, not needed.

[ By far the best pack I ’ ve purchased! We ’ ll designed, very comfortable to take long hikes with and durable as well. I was able to fit everything I needed plus more for my winter backpacking trips. It was a grate gift idea too!

[ I have purchased 2 of these packs, one for me and one for my son. We go camping monthly with our local BSA troop and use them to carry all our gear for each campout. They will also be used for various other camping trips as they are quite adaptable for various needs and capacities. Plenty of storage, plenty of thought was put into the design and the quality is amazing. Their warranty is pretty amazing as well.

I 've had this pack for 4+ years now. I take it on a couple backpacking trips a year on average and some day hikes where I 'm carrying more than normal. It's always fit everything I need. I 've carried a large tandem packraft and paddles with it( alpacka forager). I 've hiked 30 miles of the Kesugi Ridge Trail with it. The most notable use I think was for a caribou hunt I did a couple years ago on the Denali Highway. I packed out a cow caribou including all meat and 4 quarters bone in and the hide with my other knives and day pack type gear 5 miles down a mountain side and back to the parking lot via the trail. Roughly 100lbs. No buckles broke or came undone under tension, no rips, straps worked well to keep the load secure and close to my body. It only creaked and groaned a bit under that load, but otherwise performed well especially for not being a hunting pack. I would buy again!

66 yr old short woman, and I love the ease of this pack and the great comfort of the carry. I like a bear vault, and no trouble packing it in this. Makes it easy to deal with winter layers and days of food. All my gear is ultralight except this pack, and I do n't mind the weight when it comes with comfort and stability.

[ Bought this backpack on a sale, but the full price alone is worth it. This pack fits to your body so you do n't have to use any of your lesser used muscles to balance it. It fits on the fly& compartments are well designed for quick easy storage. This is the Cadillac& Ferrari of backpacks!!!

As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

[ This is a great pack! I use it to hold all my pickleball equipment. It is spacious enough to hold all my paddles, shoes, clothing, etc. Is it overkill for pickleball? Absolutely! But I love Osprey! This pack will last me for years!

I was in the market for a gym bag, but wanted something other than those trendy cotapaxi bags everyone seems to carry around. It was by a fluke that I came across the Zealot series, which makes sense considering it's a new design. After watching the product video, I was convinced to get this bag. I definitely am a fan of the separate compartment for shoes with even enough room to place my chalk bag. Definitely saves the hassle of dusting off items you do n't want chalk on such as a tablet or food. The bag is sleek in its design, making it easy for edc. Now to test its limits for a full day with sport climbing.

Simple and well designed. I really like having the ability to remove the lid and strip the pack down. Everything you need is there without extra fluff. The Speed 30's versatility and simplicity is its greatest asset.

Black Diamond's Speed Packs provide everything I need and appreciate in a trad pack without any unnecessary fluff 'n' stuff added. I 'm a tall man with a short torso, and the smaller size sits nicely, even while wearing a harness and climbing multipitch routes. The pack also carries a rope nicely, with five compression straps keeping it in place. While I have n't used this pack for skiing, I can strongly recommend it for all- day climbing adventures.

Like my larger BD pack, this thing is a bucket. It fits a ton of gear, but doesn ’ t wear like a big, heavy pack. Feels good in the hips, and distributes weight well.

This backpack is great. I appreciate all the compartments it has, especially the quick access at the front of the bag. I recently switched to a thinner reusable water bottle and I feel that it is too small for the side pockets. I also do n't think it stands up the best which is why I give it a 4/5. Everything else is great, it looks great, fits everything as I am a medical student working long hours.

this is a very simple pack. pretty much just a fabric sack with a roll top closure, but that's honestly what i want from a climbing pack. it's durable, and there are a few nice features, like a hidden back panel pocket for a phone/protein bar access while wearing. other than that it's big enough for lunch, layers, and water, which is all i want to take with me on a climb. i slung a rope on top easy enough for a longish red rocks approach. only nitpick is that i would probably like some daisy chains, but i can add those myself if i want. overall, great pack for the money.

It ’s a tight fit but I can get all my sport gear, plus a layer, and some snacks. Secured the rope to the top of the bag. Super comfy to climb in. Sits high enough on my back I can still use my chalk bag. Used this on a 4 pitch multipitch and look forward to many more days climbing with this!

Another great pack by black diamond. This one is made for quick excursions, and it feels bigger than you 'd think. It feels closer to 20l, and quite durable. A nice little pack, I would definitely recommend it!!

This bag is discreet, light weight, versatile, and makes you forget you even have it on while pulling 5. 10 moves. Fits everything for the day's multi pitching up to your favorite view and is a ideal solution for your bag your carrying to the bouldering area. The easy accessible middle compartment is a dream to use on the wall, and all the parts of the strap system are very solid. It is now the bag I use majority of the time in conjunction with a 45L Stone.

My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. I found I needed to have it just under the longest setting to fit me correctly with the middle of the hip belt on my iliac crest. I think you might be able to squeeze into this pack if your torso is 19 '' maximum. Easily the most comfortable pack I have tried on, very happy with my purchase.

[ Just returned from the BWCA with my Aether 65. This is a nice pack that worked well for a 4 day self supported journey deep in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Our trip included 5 portages with 3 having quite a bit of undulation. The pack was weighed down with 44lbs of gear and was comfortable( as much as 44lbs of gear can be, definitely dropping some weight on the next trip). I liked it because I typically start trips like this fresh and strong and have my pack set up to that posture with quick( on the fly) adjustments being made as I ’ m flagging from hiking and paddling for hours. Nice pack that is well thought out with all the features you need and none that are useless. Both of my sons were wearing the same pack with zero complaints. Nice product that ’s worth the investment.

Pack arrived in perfect new condition and the price was better than anywhere else. No break in of any kind required and my first trip with it was a 4day/3night 45mi trip. I had no complaints on fit and comfort. The fit on the fly adjustments, specifically the torso adjustment, were awesome. So easy to fine tune during that trip. My buddies also bought the same packs for the trip and also gave it high praises. Ca n't recommend this one enough
