[ I just used this pack for a week of day hikes( 10 to 14 miles each day). I could not be happier with it. I have the small size, and it fits my 4'11 '' torso well. The hip belt sits properly, and the weight balances nicely. I was able to comfortably carry more weight than I expected, and I felt stable going up and down hills. It was great- I trekked along without having to think abut my pack. My favorite part of this pack is the shoulder straps. They are much softer and more flexible than other packs I tried, while still getting the job done. They adjust easily. They 're shaped nicely and do n't dig anywhere! The shoulder straps are often miserable for me with my small shoulders, and these are a dream. The cell phone pocket on the front of one strap is genuis, and I put my sunscreen in a corresponding pocket on the other shoulder strap. And I 'm a huge fan of the bungee system on the back- very handy. Try out this pack. Seriously!

[ Excellent service. Thank you so much. Your people are such a joy to work with. However the product zipper has a latent defect that has not been corrected. The zipper doesn ’ t hold up. Only lasts about a year then the cloth part of zipper goes bad. I ’ ve returned daylite many times. While I appreciate the all might guarantee, it ’s still a hassle to continue this process. [ I have n't put this pack through it's paces on a long trek yet, but it's been great for day hiking `` trial runs '' so far. I love the exterior access for the hydration pack, the hip belt w/zip pocket and pouch( so nice after a useless waist belt on my last day pack!), the trekking pole loops( a new feature for me), and that the compartments are perfect for my packing style. I feel like it's just the right amount of organization for me... Separate spots for layers, snacks, and other gear, without any fiddly bits. I can fit my lip balm and a couple Shot Blocks in the hip pocket, the external pockets are great for quick- access items, and the pack lashes down really well if I do n't fill it up completely. Because it's frameless, it will also pack up really well inside a carry- on for international travel. Oh- and I personally think the purple colorway is LOVELY. I love my( aging) Osprey Aura 65 and am glad I could find this unique option for a lower- volume pack.

[ I got the Daylite Plus to act as a compliment to my Farpoint 40 for travel. I 'm really pleased with how it can attach on the Farpoint despite not being the Farpoint- specific daypack, because this gives me a daypack with a bit more space. The main compartment holds a surprising amount of stuff for its size, and the bag is really comfortable to wear and carry. It worked really well being carried through the airport and also serving as a daybag for both around the city and campground camping. My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. I found I needed to have it just under the longest setting to fit me correctly with the middle of the hip belt on my iliac crest. I think you might be able to squeeze into this pack if your torso is 19 '' maximum. Easily the most comfortable pack I have tried on, very happy with my purchase.

I have had this bag since 2017 and I beat the crap out of it and it has held up beyond my expectations.. The only thing I wish is that I could wash it better, because I am so hard on my stuff. I would put one more strip of padding on the bottom of the area for the laptop and two way zippers for the front little pocket, One other suggestion is for the side pockets where you can put your drinks it would be cool if one of those was a little longer, and you could zip it up.... This bag is very well made, nothing has come apart, nothing has had to be replaced and all the zippers are intact at almost 8 years since purchase with daily use!

I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13- 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground- good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key. [ First off, the open front flap makes accessing my gear at the crag so easy. The built in rope tarp is lightweight, incredibly sturdy and just the right size( i use a 70m rope). I like how breathable the straps and back are even though that is not the main thing that I enjoy about this hard structured, EVA- molded backpanel with HDPE framesheet allows me to carry just about any weight on my pack up any approach, steep or long without being bothered. There are other wonderful key features of this bag but hats off to you Osprey. You guys made an excellent climbing pack.

Awesome bag that is bomb proof and so easy to pack and unpack with closure. Allows for luxury items with short to medium approach and easy to carry a rope with the top cover. Just wish they had a helmet attachment like some packs so you could have rope on top and helmet on back to help with storage space.

Purchased: Aug 2024 Uses: 15+ day hikes with scrambling in the eastern Sierra General: I purchased the Sportlite 30 to replace my aging, 11 year old, Deuter Speedlite 30. My preference is a balance of lightweight, volume, and comfort, and I had not seen anything comparable to my Speedlite until I saw the Osprey. Having used it for a few months, I feel I can give a run down of my impressions. Fit: I have a 16 ” torso and purchased the small which fits very well. It carries much better than my Speedlite as it stays in place on my back better and there is less play when scrambling. What I like: Stretch side panels keep items secure, as does the front stretch compression pocket. I am very pleased Osprey added 2 hip pockets and I like that one of them is a stretch mesh pocket. I ’ ve always had zippered pockets in the past, and the stretch mesh secures a snack and allows for an easier retrieval than fighting with a zipper. I wasn ’ t sure I was going to like the direct access hydration sleeve, but it has worked well. Although the shoulder straps seem thin, they are comfortable and I ’ ve had no issues with them. What could be better: The 2 stretch loops on the shoulder straps are too high. I have a carabiner attached to the lower loop and it sits on top of my shoulder and sticks out rather than hanging down. I ’ d really like to see these moved lower. The side stretch mess pockets are about an inch to high. It is very difficult to reach around to grab something, e. g., bottle of liquid fuel/electrolytes, and put it back. The front compression pocket is also a bit too high. I basically have to unclip the compression straps to grab something, e. g., gloves, hat, from the pocket. But, on the other hand, if the pocket were not as high, it might not hold as much. I 'm not sold yet on the trekking pole loops. They seem small cumbersome. When I 've had to store my poles, I stuff them in a side pocket and secure them with the top compression straps. Lastly, I prefer my key clip to be in the external pocket of the top lid. At the end of a hike, when I ’ m tired and just want to get in my car, with the clip in the external pocket, all I have to do is unzip+ unclip. The workflow to get to one ’s keys in the under the lid pocket design requires one to undo 2 compression straps( 2 clicks)+ flip the lid+ unzip the pocket+ unclip. That ’s 5 steps vs 2. Despite the above limitations, I really do like this pack, especially how it carries. It meets my requirements for being light, having a 30L volume, and being comfortable. I ’ m not sure of the durability yet.. the mesh panel on the back has already ripped.

The bag is adequately sized for all hikes and most short camping trips. Despite its relatively small size, it boasts a number of impressive features. Firstly, this bag has a small plastic internal frame to provide structure. The frame is lightweight, yet sturdy enough for a fully packed bag. Because of the frame's assistance with weight distribution, everything felt lighter on my back. This bag also has many different pockets and straps for varied packing strategies. The straps on the bottom of the bag are perfect for a sleeping bag, ground mat, or small tent. Underneath those straps is a small pocket that holds an included rain cover to keep your bag totally dry during heavy rain. There is also a pocket on top of the bag for any small items you may need to access on the go, without opening or unpacking the rest of the bag. Finally, there is a pocket for a hydration bladder, so you can stay hydrated as you move. Some other useful features are the emergency whistle on the chest strap, the included strap management bungees( so those leftover strap ends after adjustment are n't hanging everywhere), and the water bottle pockets on the sides. I was looking for a medium size pack for an overnight summit trip and this fits the bill. I like the decent size water bottle pockets on the side, hydration bladder support( that doubles as laptop pocket if not used) and the hideable waist straps. I also like the hidden mesh pocket for jacket/wet things. I wish there ’s a soft bottle pockets on the shoulder strap. The only minor annoyance I found was the thin zipper pulls are hard to find. But I love everything else about the bag.

As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

6/22: had the Sirrus 24 for years. liked it. Compression- fratured lumbar region early spring. Feared hiking days over. stubborn but realistic: Had to carry pack light and high. Wore same clothes daily, hat, pricey poles. Tied jacket around waist, saved pack space for tent, food, water, rain gear, navigation, first aid, sleeping bag n cooking gear. There was other stuff inside bag, but I forget. Was able to carry light even with food. This pack solved my weight fears: helped me keep all under weight, not stressing back. Wore a lot; usually kept inside pack. Used water bladder. Was able to muster the entire CT in 2022. Cons: not able to reach back and grasp water bottles, pockets on belt too small and plastic zippers ceased in cold. Otherwise; really liked.

I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.

Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

[ The 65L Ampex Hiking Backpack as a whole is lightweight, comfortable, and breathable. Overall, it has plenty of smaller exterior pockets that are accessible within an arms reach when needed. The waist belt pockets are a pleasant feature that I ’ ve never experienced on a hiking ruck before, which add to the accessibility of its pockets given that the pack doesn ’ t need to be removed to reach them. The padded shoulder straps are comfortable and have plenty of lashing points which are great for attaching lights or other tools. The waist belt serves well to distribute weight and secure the pack, and the pack seemed to be highly adjustable but I didn ’ t need to play with it much. The top of the pack has a quick access pouch for essentials that serves well to store smaller items without having to access the main compartment. The main compartment has plenty of space being a larger sized ruck, and has one divider that appears removable towards the bottom if it was to be needed. The top compartment of the pack is removable as advertised and can be used on its own, however it leaves the ruck feeling somewhat naked with just an exposed drawstring closure underneath. The removed “ pack ” achieved by taking it off would not serve well for a day pack as the straps just buckle into themselves to form shoulder straps. This in and of itself feels like an unnecessary feature. The main compartment has access by way of the drawstring at the top, or zippers located on the front which are great for horizontal access without unpacking the entire ruck to access deeper items. At the bottom of the pack there is an included rainfly that tucks away nicely in its own pocket. There are lashing points located on the bottom of the pack that held a sleeping mat for me quite nicely. The wire/ mesh frame that the pack sits on is breathable, comfortable, and distributes weight well when carrying lighter loads. One glaring issue that I had was the manufacturers recommended load limit of 42 pounds. For such a large capacity pack, you would think that it would not be an issue. However, any experienced camper or hiker knows that when carrying a sustainment load or anything other than a days worth of supplies, that weight will be eaten up very quickly. While this pack has many of the amenities and features of a more expensive ruck, I would recommend a sturdier pack and frame for more extended trips, hikes, or hunts. All in all, the pack is ideal for day trips or light camping. If the buyer doesn ’ t foresee themselves approaching or exceeding the weight limit, it is a very light and comfortable ruck that was clearly designed with accessibility in mind at a competitive price.

Weighted my Talon 11 down heavy with a piece of cherry burl I got out of my back woods while on cross country skis. Really comfortable. Only considerations are I wish the hip pockets were positioned more forward and the zippers were a little more beefy.

[ Although this is sold as a small backpack, it is mighty perfect for a day hike. Love the top zipped compartment, great for stowing those most important items that you need without searching. Along with the perfect zipped area on the waist belt- fits my iPhone 15 perfectly. This pack just keeps on giving you options to place items that you need quickly without stopping to take everything out to find what u need! Oh and the outside side pockets on both sides are ideal for water bottles. And if you really need water, you can buy the bladder accessory as this pack is bladder ready! [ This pack is versatile and comfortable. Fits enough to do a 1 day up and down Mt. Whitney to easy day hikes. I put a 3L bladder in mine and the weight of the bladder does pull the keeper at the top of the pack down and deform it a little. My wife uses a 2L and her Talon 11 doesn ’ t experience this. Overall an awsome product, durable and comfortable.

` I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who has n't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7- 8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area- a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. Never had to use the internal rainfly, but that was definitely a selling point for me. Highly recommend!

I bought an Exos 48 to downsize and reduce from my Aether 65. I ’ ve been on two 7 day treks and it ’s worked out perfectly for less than 30 lbs loads even with a bear vault. I ’ m 71 and trying to extend my backpacking days with lighter loads. This pack is versatile as well. I intend to use it for 15ish lbs load on an Alta Via 1 hut- to- hut hike on over 11 days in Italy this fall. Highly recommend.

I have the Exos from like 7 years ago, I think 2 or 3 models ago. The ones that came out after my version had a mix of materials for the side and front stretch pockets. Mine is all stretch mesh which I prefer. I also have the hip belt pockets but I think they are smaller than the pockets on this new version. I am very happy with my Exos and love the vented back panel and having the option to remove the brain/lid to make it a smaller bag when needed. I have even used it as a day bag when the brain is removed. If you are on the fence between this 48L and the 38L, look at the dimensions, this one is only an inch wider. I am sure there are improvements on this new model but I am really happy with my old version. If you are n't someone that counts every ounce possible, this is a great pack. It is in a good price range for all you get with this bag. It is lighter than most packs in it's size range, has a lot of external storage pockets, internal frame, and has the best ventilated back panel I have used.

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!
