Neither my husband or I wore a bike helmet in the past. This spring I bought an expensive bell helmet mail order and wore it two or three times before leaving it on the shelf for good it felt a little large too me and very uncomfortable. After i got my husband a speedometer this summer we noticed we were often going 20 mph or faster. After my husband came home From a solo ride where he said he was going particularly fast almost 30 mph( yikes) I told him that he should really be wearing a helmet and suggesting he try the helmet I had bought. I noticed my husband returned home from from his next few solo rides with my helmet. I finally asked how he liked wearing a helmet and he told me it was quite comfortable and made him feel much safer. He also asked how i would feel If he wore it while We rode together. I of course told him i was fine with that. After a few rides where he wore it and i wore my hat, I decided to buy another helmet, but this time i decided I was going to the store to try some on. I found the fixture in blue for a great price and loved the way it felt when i tried it on. On my first ride I realized how awesome it was to have a good fitting helmet. i was really happy with how much better it felt. Honestly sometimes I forget i have it on. Absolutely no regrets with this helmet.

My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. It fits like a glove and I totally forget I 'm wearing it while riding. It's by far not as bulky as the POC helmets and it also feels at least subjectively lighter. Love the color schemes as well and can not praise the fit of this helmet enough. Sizing is spot on and the magnetic buckle is also a plus.

This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. So, comfort, air circulation and price were the three most important factors in my choice. When you 're 80 years old, style does n't really matter. Color was a minor factor since I live in the AZ desert, and this helmet came in white. This helmet met my 3 main criteria. It's comfortable, although I had to expand the `` liner '' to its fullest using the adjustment knob. I also had to extend the straps to their longest length.( My hat size is 7 3/4) While my rides are early in the morning while the temperature is still in the low 90's, the air circulation seems quite good. I love riding everywhere I can in my home state, Minnesota, and I have traveled to four other states to ride as well. I do n't race and I consider myself an intermediate rider, but I am willing to push myself to get better and try new terrain/features. With the above in mind, I figured why wait until I knocked my teeth out or broke my jaw to get a full- face helmet?! So, I dug in and did my research and settled on the Super DH MIPS Helmet. And, I am glad I did!... I just returned from a trip to Bentonville and had a nasty crash on a gap jump I missed. While the helmet did n't prevent me from shattering my collarbone( surgically repaired with 10 pins and a titanium plate), my melon was completely protected and unharmed from my OTB and trail bouncing. In fact, the helmet is no worse for the wear and ready for more action. Why did I chose the Super DH MIPS Helmet? 1) Tons of venting and a super comfy fit( Yes, your head will still get a bit warmer than having no face- guard. But, it's not as bad as many people say.). In fact, I wore it both climbing and descending, as well as on the features I road( I love skinnies). 2) Quick and easy removal of the face- guard( But, it defeats the purpose of having it... it's for unplanned accidents.). 3) Great visibility and glasses or goggles fit it perfectly( I wear slightly larger sunglasses, googles seem like overkill for my riding purposes). 4) DH rated and MIPS technology—Why go full- face if it is n't rated for the most extreme riding you may experience?! 5) Bell history and quality.

While wemake the kids wear helmets my husband and i do not wear helmets. When my husband got into mountain biking last year he picked up A bell sixer for his off road adventures. He only wears if when he is in the woods or trails never on the bike path with the fam. I had started bilking on my day off while the kids were at school. Last week it was raining when i was going to ride. I was going to bag the ride but decided to just wear my rain jacket. As i was headed out i saw my husband ’s helmet hanging there and decided to wear it since the streets would be slippery. I slipped it on and adjusted it up. It is light and fit well. I did have my hood over it so I can not comment on the venting. It did not move and felt very safe.

Only issue I took the inner liner out to wash and broke the mips plastic holding tabs. They don ’ t service them so I had to buy a new helmet. Keeping my old one for spare tabs in case it happens again. Also huge plus they sell replacement liners so you don ’ t have to throw it out when it gets nasty from sweat. [ As is typical of Bell helmets, this is a really good brain crate for road biking. It's light, fits and breathes well, even on the hottest of days, while being fully adjustable to fit with or without a skull cap. About the only thing that it falls short on is the straps are shorter than I 'd like, such that I only have about an inch of strap beyond the buckle and would prefer to see another 1- 2 inches for better adjustability. This seems to be Bell's new norm, after many years where their straps tended to be too long.

[ The helmet is small profile, fits round shaped heads, nice looking and got good crash test ratings from Virginia Tech. I also like how little wind noise it has. I was surprised because I read some reviews that claim a high level of wind noise. But my experience is this is the quietest helmet I 've used. I also have a rounder shaped head and very few helmets fit me properly so I usually have to size up and wear large. But the medium fit me perfectly. My main complaint about the helmet is that I mainly mountain bike and the Lazer dial at the top of the helmet just does n't tighten down enough to keep the helmet from shifting around on my head while hitting bumps and drops on singletrack. The dial also feels notchy when turning it. Overall, I 'd say the helmet is one of the best for road riding but for mountain biking, something that tightens down more would be better.

My husband and I did not wear helmets. As my husband started riding more mountain and off road i purchased him a bell 4forty for his off road adventures. He generally only wears it in the woods and even then not all the time( which is fine by me). He says it fits nice and is comfortable and feels very substantial and he is often glad he has it. I tried it on and got it adjusted it was very easy to adjust and comfortable although heavier than my ball cap. During the ride It was so snug and airy i kept forgetting it was on.
