Do n't do any hiking but the shoes are great. I 've been wearing Merrells for years. My wife had me try Skeetchers for the slip on feature but I do that just fine with my Merrells

Comfortable and light but thick soled enough to be able to walk on rough terrain without feeling like you 're being poked by every rock and stick. Far more useful than sandals or flip flops but just as convenient.

Have been wearing Targhee xx's for quite a few years. Obviously, they have worked great for me, and now my wife has a pair. I wear them year- around, on snow, ice, wet leaves, steep hillsides.... They are functionally waterproof- I wear low- profile `` walking shoes ''- not for serious stream crossing, but fine for tall wet crass ''. Only problem has been delamination and eventually leaking. Will see how the model for IV performs- just bought 3 pairs.
