Fit: I am 5'11 and 190 pounds, wear XL for shirts and sweaters, but L for these types of jackets and the L fit me well in this one. Warmth: I have used it in up to- 10C and it has kept me warm at that temp with only a t- shirt below. Might be too warm for anything above 0C- 5C for me. If it can keep me warm up to- 20C with a thin layer underneath it will have good range. Style: looks very good. Amber is a bit darker than I expected, which is welcomed in my case. Does not look orange at all. Weight/design: it is very lightweight, and does not look puffy. Would have appreciated one or two pockets on the inside. Easy to move around in, so will be good for winter activities. After getting through a NYC December/January where conditions ranged from 40F with heavy rain to nearly 10F with strong wind and snow, I can officially say I love this jacket. It ’s very stylish and the warm adjustable hood is a highlight. I prefer the flexibility of having a versatile “ lighter ” jacket that can get through three seasons but this jacket isn ’ t super light. When it got down into the 20s, I just layered with a light insulated vest and the jacket remained effective. I don ’ t understand some of the complaints in other reviews… two- way zippers are always a little more difficult to zip up but with the longer length of the jacket, it ’s well worth it. And no, my arms didn ’ t get cold in the jacket either.

This jacket is super high quality and is warm, waterproof and windproof. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ”, 190lbs, athletic build. The Men ’s size medium fits perfect, with room for layers without being too small or too big. It is long below the waist so there is a double zipper to allow you to manuever into your car or a chair without pulling the jacket up to your waist. I removed the faux fur from my hood, it comes off easily with buttons. The fur just wasn ’ t my style. A few people complained about the double zipper, which is plastic( not metal), and is a YKK branded zipper. I ’ ve had no issues with the double zipper. Someone complained about the arm length. There are velcro cuffs so you can control how low you want the cuffs to go. No issues for me there. Bonus: there are two zippered hidden pockets, one on the inside of the main vertical zipper and one on the outside of the zipper. This outside pocket allows you to access items without unzipping the coat. Another bonus: there are two large pockets on the inside of the coat large enough to store ski googles. I happily store my winter scarf in there for when the temperature drops down and the wind picks up. Chest- level hand warmer pockets are comfortable and fantastic for walking or standing in the cold. I wore this coat for a trip in Seattle during the cold and rainy October season and it kept the wind and rain at bay, no wind or water got through. I ’ ve wearing this coat here in Orlando, FL for the cold winter months and have stayed quite warm and cozy! Keep in mind, this is the “ Nuuk Lite Insulated ” version so it ’s perfect for Seattle or Orlando. I bought this jacket a month ago after trying it on at a Fjallraven store. The jacket runs a little large as I almost could fit into a small at 190 lbs and 6ft. I settled with a medium and it fits very nicely, not too tight across the shoulders and back as many jackets are. I use this jacket fishing and hiking in the back country of Vermont. Even the g1000 light is tough enough to push through thick woods without being fazed by sharp branches. This is the jacket I have been looking for, good looking and functional, tough material, waterproof( add more wax for heavy rain) and not too heavy. Bought in the dark olive color, very nice and could serve well as a hunting jacket in some situations. Hood is large and has good structure but can also be sinched down in two directions. I will definately be buying from Fjallraven again.

This jacket has become my favorite jacket for everyday wear. It's stylish enough for daily use, but the fabric is tough enough to hold up in the bush without punctures or tears. I 've also gotten it pretty dirty with dust and mud, and it has cleaned easily. I was expecting to use the jacket in milder temps, but I 've discovered that with a baselayer and a sweater underneath( and a nice coat of Greenland wax on the jacket) it performs very well on the coldest Michigan mornings. When using it in milder temps, each of the pockets is vented all the way through the jacket, so you can simply open up each pocket to allow airflow. 5'11, 175#- purchased a medium in the dark gray. Perfect fit for me( not baggy, but not restrictive), though the arms are a bit long.

I have lots of mountain gear, but unless it's howling and I need a hardshell, I always reach for this jacket. It has now been most of the way around the world with me. Whether I 'm doing multi- day treks or exploring new cities, it's great at everything. The cut is perfect. I 'm English but perhaps I have a Swedish body. I have finally found a jacket with perfect length sleeves! The articulation is great, it has a decent hood that does n't get in the way, and there is a thoughtful layout to the pockets. I have also introduced two of my friends to Fjallraven jackets, and they adore them. As long as Fjallraven keeps this cut/sleeve length, they have a faithful customer for life right here.

[ I bought this in Nov 2020 because I was looking for a lightweight winter jacket that I can wear as my primary jacket. I was worried it would n't be warm enough because it's not down but I can say that for non- active use, you could probably be comfortable in it down to 32 F or so. If you 're outdoors for extended periods of time( e. g. Standing outside for the bus/train, long walks), you might want something a little warmer. But for typical Philly/NYC winters, I think this is great. I also have a Fjallraven parka for when it's colder. If you 're being somewhat active, you could wear this comfortably in even colder temps. It does a good job of insulating the heat you generate from biking, jogging, brisk walking, etc. The fit is perfect for me! I have a long torso for someone my height( 5' 8 '') but it's nice and long, so I 'd guess that if you 're tall and skinny, this jacket would be great. For short torso people, it might feel long. The jacket looks great and feels like a great quality product. I hope to wear it for many years!

The Dick's employee we were directed to, a young man who loves to snowboard in our local mountains, directed us to this jacket. We are new to the sport and have n't got up to the mountains yet, but one feature we liked that would n't be apparent online or in- store, but which he showed us, is that there are side zippers that go up pretty high almost to under the armholes. He said if the sun comes out and you are just getting hot/sweaty from the exercise of snowboarding, you can unzip both side zippers( they start at the bottom hem), and it helps you vent out your warm air and cool off, without having to remove the jacket. He says he really likes that feature. He owns the same jacket in black and he loves it. I was worried because it has a non- bulky profile so I thought maybe it wo n't insulate enough, but he said the jacket keeps him nice and toasty when he's snowboarding. It looks to my eyes young and modern and cool, and my daughter looked cute in it when she tried it on. It's also pretty roomy, which is a plus if it is for a teen who is still growing. Color is a neat shade of pink that looks modern. Also, seems to be made to a very high quality. Sorry no use details.

Good winter and low temp jacket. Its longer and a tad baggy/active since its made for riding, so take your normal size and layer underneath for really cold days. In the fall and early phases of winter I 'll wear a down mid layer to insulate my body heat and throw this guy over to protect from the elements. It weighs the same as my old flimsy nylon windbreaker but feels much more durable. The pockets and details are well thought out, and the two way zipper and bottom hem snap allow for as much ventilation as needed. It is NOT waterproof, but the fabric dries quickly and can be treated with Greenland wax to make it more water repellent.

I purchased this jacket a few weeks ago and brought it with me last week on a 3 day fly fishing trip in western NC. The temperatures at first light on the water were in the mid 30's and this jacket kept my core warm and cozy! I 'm 5 '' 10 160 pounds and the medium was a perfect fit. Plenty of room under the arms and chest area for layering, easily adjustable hood, and plenty of room in the front pockets and the interior pocket too. You also have a adjustable cord around the waist, though I did not need to adjust the fit. The fleece padding found on the interior near your neck, chin and mouth is brilliant! I ’ m not sure why anyone gets cold in this jacket. I use this as my outer layer when I ski. All I need underneath is a tshirt and and an old sweatshirt and I ’ m perfect in 0°- 30°F weather. The temperature in Colorado has been hovering around 0°F the last few days, so on short excursions around, I stay plenty warm. Walking around campus this jacket is light and super comfortable. It allows me to not have to layer up much as it takes on the cold itself. It ’s also very durable for a down jacket, I ’ ve clipped trees and crashed hard when skiing, had dogs jump on me, cats claw me, and no damage so far.

I have 5 days of skiing on the jacket in weather from sunny/warm to heavy snow. The fabric breathability is perfect for sidecountry/in- bounds skiing, but a touch heavy if you 're looking for a backcountry jacket. Great windproofing while still breathing. I am 5'11, 165lbs, with broad shoulders. I bought the medium and it can be worn with a puffy underneath comfortably. Not baggy, but still free range of movement. A touch more room on the shoulders would have suited me a bit better. There are a ton of useful pockets, no shortage. Zippers are easy to access, pit zips are a bit cumbersome however. Velcro on the cuffs is easy to adjust with different gloves.

Bought this recently, a week old review. Shipping was quick and efficient. With regards to the jacket, it keeps you warm and cosy even when there is a gust. Looks a bit handful but performs like a workhorse. The pockets are deep and well- thought positions. The hand pockets with warm liners are cosy when you forgot your gloves. The Hood is padded and adjustable so this eliminates the need for a beanie until unless is heavy gust or snow. There is enough space for both beanie and glove in case you choose to wear them with you along with the jacket. The secret pocket inside the chest is a good place for either mobile, cards, car keys or something valuable. A small elastic compartment in the outer chest pocket is for something like a go- to bag to keep keys secure and have quick access to. Overall build quality is excellent. Being used other fjallraven products longevity of their products is unparalleled. The arm length is a bit larger for me, Please take a measurement of yourself with all the inner layers( i. e- day to day clothing which you might be wearing inside the coat).

I was looking for a very warm, every day jacket. I usually buy ski gear type stuff.... something that you need to layer up and stay active to keep warm in. I was finally ready to buy a jacket that I could stay warm in when I was just standing around. After reading some of the reviews I was afraid that this was not the jacket I was looking for. I expected it not to be warm enough. I was wrong. This jacket is super warm. In 23° F with the wind and snow blowing, it's toasty warm with just a t shirt and flannel underneath. The design is awesome too. The hood is nice, there are pockets everywhere, it fits great, not too baggy, not too tight and it feels super durable while looking good for pretty much any occasion. I also tried a Singi wool padded parka thinking the Skogso would n't be warm enough. The Singi is amazingly warm but is overkill for daily wear where I live( our cold days are usually 0° to 25+° F). The Singi would be great for standing around in sub 0°F weather but is too bulky to wear every day for me.

I use this jacket as my daily driver for Ohio winters, where temperatures can sit right around the freezing point or drop into deep freeze throughout a single day. So far it has performed admirably in rain, snow, sleet, and whatever else it might chuck down at us poor midwesterners. I 'd advise picking up some Greenland wax and applying a couple coats at the beginning of winter, it improves an already good wind resistance and makes the G- 1000 practically waterproof. I 've been very impressed and plan to keep the jacket for a very long time. I use the jacket daily for walking the dog in any and all weather, and would n't hesitate to take it snowboarding, winter trekking, or commuting by bike. I did have one issue where the hem cinch stop popped off leaving the flex cord dangling out of the bottom of the jacket, but found it easy to repair since the cord is routed into the inner pockets. I just cut the frayed end and put the stop back on. Looks like it came brand new.

LOVE this jacket! I 'm 6' 2 and bought XL for extra movement and layering when snowboarding. Pros: The synthetic fill is the best I 've ever felt, I honestly thought it was down fill. I love that it stays warm and holds its lofty puffiness when in wet snow conditions. My other Sitka down jacket loses its loft quickly in the arms and back when I start perspiring from a morning of hiking or snowboarding. But's it's so soft a cozy. I often just wear a t- shirt or thin base layer under it if I 'm just staring around a camp fire. It's very warm and the hand and chin backings are super soft. Cons: My only complaint is that it does n't have a well placed hood draw string for windy conditions. The single draw string on the hood is more a retention string for side to side movement of your head. And the outer fabric is very delicate, I know its gon na snag and tear on a tree branch one of these days.... I personally wish it was a little bit thicker like on my wife's Expedition down jacket.

One thing to note is that the fleece is a tad bit snug around the chest area but the flexible and light materials keeps the fleece breathable. [ I really enjoyed the stretch- fit feature, I could actually be active and use my arms without the jacket riding up. Then matte- like finish is fantastic and a lot more subtle than the Ghost Whisperer finish, with a soft yet durable feel. Plenty of pockets for everything you 'd need to stash away and the chest pocket fits a rather large cellphone, I use the Galaxy S8+ with an OtterBox case so this should fit pretty much any phone on the market. I have yet to be in freezing temps but at low 40s with wind the StretchDown jacket kept me very arm, the seam welded baffles do their job. I would absolutely recommend this jacket after reviewing the Ghost Whisperer as well as options from Patagonia and Arc'teryx I decided to buy the Mountain Hardwear StretchDown Jacket and I do not regret my decision.

I love the full neck covering design and it ’s water repellent technology is amazing. I poured a glass of water on the hands and no wetting at all. Zinc color is also extraordinary. [ This is my favorite jacket. I probably wear it more often than I should, to be entirely honest. It's just so darn versatile, though, that I find myself grabbing this jacket in nearly any situation. The fit is perfect and the angled baffles look great on anyone. The baffles themselves are much more firm than most puffy jackets, which just feels fantastic every time you throw it on. The material is durable, and the range of motion is completely non- restricting. Interestingly, I was especially impressed by the way this jacket feels when moving between being outside/inside. I 've ridden my bicycle outside and felt toasty warm while wearing this well below 30 degrees+ windchill, but then when I go inside at 70 degrees it still feels comfortable enough that I do n't need to take it off. I think everyone should have a Stretchdown. Mine has completely changed the way I think about down jackets.

I use this as an everyday jacket for plain clothes LE work in PA. It is insanely warm for how light weight it is. Water repellency and wind resistance is excellent. Excellent balance between weight and warmth. Only downfall is the length makes it difficult to get to a sidearm when zipped up.

Impressive 3- 1 after wearing out my North Face 3- 1 system I have wore for years. Bought this to replace it and I am happy with what my research settled upon. Love the zip out silk liner as a stand alone lite duty jacket, a nd the shell works excellent as a rain cover. This is a great system for a beginner or an expert in the field or out on the town. Size runs true and is a little longer than expected but I did not mind the extra length to cover my hind end.

I 've had my RG foray for a little over 3 years and it's been pretty good to me. I 've mostly worn the puffer by itself in cool weather. There's little wind resistance to it, so be warned. Otherwise it's a good standalone layer on even the coldest days for short exposure times. I 've had to wear the jacket on several rainy days, and the full system during an Easter trip to the UK in '23. Scotland, Wales, and northern England are n't known for great weather in March and this trip was no exception. We endured near constant wind and periodic rain& sleet. When we went to London it rained for several hours one day and we were in it at its hardest. The fabric shed water well without getting soaked, as I 'd expect from OR. All in all, it's a good buy.

The fit is comparable to other OR jackets, maybe just slightly roomier for an extra layer. I am 5 ’ 10 ”, 145 lbs, and the small fits well though the sleeves could use an extra 1/2 ” or so

It is quite warm does a great job; I generally wear a L but went for the Medium here based on the recommendation that this would be slightly bigger than a regular sized one and I did n't plan on having multiple layers under it. If layering under it, then go for the regular size. It is heavier than my L Arcteryx Cerium LT, which will be my go to for packing and traveling. But overall, very pleased with what this does.

I use this down jacket in Arctic tundra settings around Baffin Island, and find it best for warmth with low exertion activities( i. e. life around tent and cabin, as an emergency layer on expedition travel, or for everyday errands around town). At 6' 5 '' and 260lbs, I found XXL a perfect fit, with lots of room for layering and loft to spare. Recommended.

I live in Chicago and this jacket is Polar Vortex proof! It's incredibly warm. I typically get cold very easily and find myself layering with every jacket I own until I picked up THIS beast. I now often wear just a shirt under the jacket or a light layering piece when the temps drop to single digits. Buying items insulated with goose down is also out of my norm because I intend on spending considerable amount of time outdoors and I worry about the fill getting wet but Fjallraven ingeniously designed the jacket with synthetic fill reinforcements at the shoulders so it keeps me warm when I 'm caught in a wet snow. It's also super stylish and I get a lot of compliments, win- win.

I froze this winter in Park City, UT especially when the temp was hovering around zero. This parka changed that all. It is big and bulky but does not feel like that at all, it sits and wears no bigger than a standard puffy down coat. The fact that it is basically two down coats sewn together creates an air pocket in between them that will keep you warm in the coldest of temperatures. Another plus is that it is available in a heavier version for colder climates and it is about half the cost of a bougie Canada Goose, so save some money, stay warm, and look good in this bad boy.

I 've owned warm winter coats before, but nothing comes close to this marshmallow of a jacket. I tend to run pretty cold and the 415g of down has kept me toasty and smiling during frigid winter days and sub- zero midnight astrophotography shoots. The bulk is absolutely worth the comfort, and I appreciate the large zipper pulls and snaps that make it easy to operate with mittens on. I ca n't even imagine how much warmer the big brother to this jacket is( Expedition Down Jacket- 680g fill weight). For size reference, I am 6 ft. 4 in. 190lbs. and the size Large fits me perfectly- just enough room to layer while still not inhibiting movement.

I ’ ve owned 2 other puffers( Patagonia and Rab). The Helium combined my favorite aspects of both jackets into one and improved on some other aspects. Only thing I can ’ t attest to is the jackets durability. I ’ ve had my Patagonia puffer for nearly 10 years, hoping this one lasts that or more! Pros:- lightweight but very warm( tested in the 20 ’s and 30F so far, expecting to see how it fairs in the negatives soon)- hand pockets are lined and warm- hood is a must have for long bouts in cold weather IMO- phone pocket on the chest fits a new pro max IPhone with a case on it- large internal open pockets, probably won ’ t use much but nice additional feature- the hood and shoulders have a water repellant material Con: My only negative is the sizing, I ’ m 6 ’ 200lbs and usually wear an XL for jackets. A large would have fit more athletically with room for another layer underneath. I live in a place it can get to- 50 or colder so having space to layer is wicked helpful, but an XL is a tough too big.

very happy with this downie. granted, I would n't try my luck in a Minnesota winter with this and a tee shirt, but for simple, functional northwest cold, this jacket is perfect. the fit is great, roominess enough but not too much, and the sizing is dead on( I 'm 5' 10 '' and 180, bought a large). good coat for the casual wearer and will last well on hikes, but the more serious outdoorsman may prefer a bit more durability.

I 've only had this jacket for a couple of days, but I am already very impressed. It's very warm, the zips are all high quality, the pockets are sooo soft and nice to put my hands in. I love how the neck comes right up to my chin so even if I do n't have the hood on, I can zip the neck right up and I feel like I am wearing a scarf. Very happy with the styling too. It's lighter but warmer, which is crazy! This is for sure one of MHW's unique and milestone garments, and a must have for anyone who likes being warm. There's definitely no excuse for not carrying it with you, it's tiny.

This jacket is a great improvement upon the previous Ghost Whisperer jacket in that it's lighter and warmer. I ca n't think of a better jacket to keep warm while minimizing weight in the mountains. I also end up wearing it in town as it's very comfortable. I think this is the only 1000 down fill power jacket available on the market today.

Working in Washington State as a climbing instructor, I am always on the lookout for the next great piece of gear. The Ghost Whisperer UL Hooded Down Jacket is an amazingly light piece of kit that goes un- noticed when in your pack, but is surprisingly warm for its featherweight lightness. The 1000- fill insulation is definitely top notch and a big step up from previously owned mid range puffy jackets. I brought this jacket on a 45 mile backpacking loop in the central cascades of Washington this fall where temps dipped below freezing and I was thoroughly impressed with the warmth to weight ratio of this jacket. However, with amazing lightness comes compromise. I was constantly worried about snagging the ultra thin ripstop shell fabric. The YKK 3 zippers were super light, but I wonder about the durability and longevity of repeatedly opening and closing pocket zips and taking the jacket on and off without having to using extreme caution. If you are looking to shave grams off of your pack weight, consider using the Ghost Whisperer UL Hooded Down Jacket to keep you warm on cool summer nights and shoulder season evenings. Just know that this jacket is a specialty piece, and not your everyday driver due to its lack of durability.
