I bought this in preparation for a trip where I was expecting temps in the low 40s, wind, and rain, but needed a few easily accessible pockets, too. This coat worked perfectly for me, keeping me dry, warm, and relatively protected from the wind( with the hood), too. The lack of an inner pocket was a bit of a miss, but the two outer breast pockets worked well for my phone and( when traveling, and worried about pickpockets) wallet.

This jacket is super high quality and is warm, waterproof and windproof. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ”, 190lbs, athletic build. The Men ’s size medium fits perfect, with room for layers without being too small or too big. It is long below the waist so there is a double zipper to allow you to manuever into your car or a chair without pulling the jacket up to your waist. I removed the faux fur from my hood, it comes off easily with buttons. The fur just wasn ’ t my style. A few people complained about the double zipper, which is plastic( not metal), and is a YKK branded zipper. I ’ ve had no issues with the double zipper. Someone complained about the arm length. There are velcro cuffs so you can control how low you want the cuffs to go. No issues for me there. Bonus: there are two zippered hidden pockets, one on the inside of the main vertical zipper and one on the outside of the zipper. This outside pocket allows you to access items without unzipping the coat. Another bonus: there are two large pockets on the inside of the coat large enough to store ski googles. I happily store my winter scarf in there for when the temperature drops down and the wind picks up. Chest- level hand warmer pockets are comfortable and fantastic for walking or standing in the cold. I wore this coat for a trip in Seattle during the cold and rainy October season and it kept the wind and rain at bay, no wind or water got through. I ’ ve wearing this coat here in Orlando, FL for the cold winter months and have stayed quite warm and cozy! Keep in mind, this is the “ Nuuk Lite Insulated ” version so it ’s perfect for Seattle or Orlando. Fjallraven makes a warmer version called “ Nuuk Insulated ” which is probably more suited to arctic places like snowy parts of Canada or New England. I highly recommend!

After getting through a NYC December/January where conditions ranged from 40F with heavy rain to nearly 10F with strong wind and snow, I can officially say I love this jacket. It ’s very stylish and the warm adjustable hood is a highlight. I prefer the flexibility of having a versatile “ lighter ” jacket that can get through three seasons but this jacket isn ’ t super light. When it got down into the 20s, I just layered with a light insulated vest and the jacket remained effective. I don ’ t understand some of the complaints in other reviews… two- way zippers are always a little more difficult to zip up but with the longer length of the jacket, it ’s well worth it. And no, my arms didn ’ t get cold in the jacket either.

Interesting to see the various issues around clumped filling. I 've used this jacket around the globe in various environments so it's had plenty of washes. I 've never experienced the clumping issues. I wash it separately shake it out and hang to dry. When dry I give it another shake and off we go. No clumping, no gaps, no issues.

This puffy is best used for around 0 C to 5 C in dry weather, in sub zero temps it may not be warm enough. The fabric is soft and comfy to touch with a nice fleece lining on chin and neck area to keep that area warm and also helps if you have a beard. I 'm about 170 cm, 66 kg and a small fit too tight in the chest and armpits, medium fits well relaxed with room to layer, the sleeves are just a bit long. The hood and collar have nice coverage to keep head and neck warm. Personally, I do n't mind the yellow shoelace, it does n't get in the way much. A great feature is the double zipper which allows you to vent heat without taking the jacket off.

I live in the Western mountains of Maine beside the White Mountain National Forest. We get spooky weather here. It was a brittle- 10° when I got up at 0530. I threw my Expedition Pack Down Hoodie on over just a merino wool base layer. Something I wear 24/7 in the winter here. I was quite comfortable outside. I 'm not going to lie, my face stung from the cold. A quick pull, a tug or two here and there and voila! Now it was tolerable which is enough! I 'm 69. I 've been through a few jackets in my lifetime. I can tell within 5 minutes whether a jacket will do the job and stand up to wear. This was a treat to myself. I have gone through so many winters with barely adequate clothing. This year I finally figured out how to dress. This jacket is superb. It handled some rather high wind the other day better than I expected. I HATE feeling that cold wind blow right through a jacket! Look, I found myself just wanting to go for a walk the other day just so I could wear it! I love the length in the back. Not keeping your butt covered is asking for trouble! Love the arm length which SHOULD be a tad longer than normal to ensure no `` pull up '' around your wrists. Love way you can pull this jacket around your body. Everything is adjusted just for me! Any jacket like this really shines with proper layer material. It's no secret but, just go with wool. Period. A wool base layer( I go with the thickest I can find) is the key. I quite often wear just my wool base layer for a shirt. Job well done Fjallraven!

Love this jacket. I was worried about the reports that it's `` short '' I 'm 5' 9 '' with a longer torso and short legs( 30- 32 inseam) and the jacket came to just below my belt line. I 've owned a lot of jackets over the years. Helly Hansen, Eddie Bauer, Spyder, Khul, Mammut, etc. This is by far the warmest jacket I 've ever owned. Even at 30- 35 degrees( F) I sometimes find myself unzipping it as it is too much insulation. I 've worn it out to about 5 degrees with only a light sweater under it and was not even slightly cold. There are more technical jackets out there if you 're looking for backcountry skiing stuff but if you 're just looking for something to keep you warm around town, winter hiking, or sledding with your kids, you ca n't beat this. Also looks great and super comfortable.

Love this jacket. Bought the medium but unfortunately due to the mid- life spread it was too tight around the mid drift, so that one to a friend. Bought another in large, fits like a glove and both of us have gotten some good wear out of these already. The medium fits my 5'11 '' frame perfectly. Warmth is n't an issue. I 've worn the jacket with only a t shirt beneath, in windy, freezing temps, with no issue at all. Well worth the money purchasing but luckily I got mine on sale just before the temperatures dropped and bad weather in eastern Canada. Most times I do not layer but on super cold days I do have a layer beneath and so warm. Extremely breathable. I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

I have a number of OR gear/jackets/fleece. For reference I 'm 5'10 '' and weigh 215 average build so I typically wear an XL in OR and L in some other brands depending on fit. This jacket is very well made and everything fits to be expected except at the waist. It's very small compared to my other OR jackets which surprises me. It is warm but the Storm color is n't accurately represented in the pictures. It's a much lighter grey color in person.

[ This jacket caught my eye because of its' bright colors and classic, yet uniquely new design. I love the bugaboo embroidery on the back as well. But the biggest selling point for me with this jacket is its' versatility. I am easily kept warm in New York winter with the full coat, but on days when it's milder, I love that I can easily just take off the blue outer shell and only use the inner piece-- which is also a great stand alone jacket. It fits true to size and looks like how it does on the website. I 'm 5' 3 '' and 135 lbs and bought a Medium and it fits great. Not oversized or too tight anywhere. But it is form fitting. So if you like a baggier look and feel, I 'd go up a size. The quality of material and the zippers is excellent, and it's really easy to put the jacket back together if you choose to separate the layers. The only things that would make this jacket better for me is if there was a hood for the rain/snow, although the high neck helps a lot. Love this Parka. I wore in 15degF with a long sleeve and flannel underneath and I was warm. It ’s roomy enough to layer up but isn ’ t excessively long like every other parka I ’ ve tried on. Hand pockets are fleeced lined and there ’s some chest pockets and other hidden pockets. Would def buy again.

Bought to use layering when backpacking or hiking. Great warmth to weight ratio. Packs down very well. So far have only used it walking the dog on mornings in the high 20s. Worked well for that and so I expect it will perform just as I want it to when backpacking.

Love the Ghost Whisperer 2. It ’s a thin light weight jacket where I can use on evenings and mornings where there slight crisp in air. I also wear even in warmer temps just because it ’s cozy when wearing just a t- shirt. Definitely, a delicate material to be aware of outdoor surroundings. Only reason why I took off a start is because of the sizing has me in between a MD and L. I am 6 ’ 2 ” 185# and waist 32 ”. Medium is ideal fit, yet shoulders are slightly tight when I cross my arms. This size is better than when wearing Large, tho. Large is too long in sleeves and too blousy. This is my third Whisperer not because they fall apart, but because I like having multiple colors due to wanting to wear it so much. Must have jacket!

I bought my Mesa Purple jacket in an outlet store, and I absolutely love it. I love how this jacket combo is all I really need for winter in New England and how it can be used for the majority of the year. My complaint is that your hair will snag on the buttons around the wrists, and the velcro on the inner jacket and any face makeup will rub off around the zipper area of the jacket. [ As far as the jacket goes I love it so far. Great fit. I ’ m 5 ’ 10, 215 pounds very active. I fit in a large perfect. Fits the shoulders and arms well which is where most jackets fail me. Body fits nice but is not too tight. In regards to customer service, I had to exchange for a different size. The customer chat was initially very unhelpful and unpleasant but ended up processing the exchange.

[ I came across this jacket when searching for a synthetic alternative to my down jacket for backpacking. And while it's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather's a little chilly. It's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. Glad I bought it during the big sale!
