So, comfort, air circulation and price were the three most important factors in my choice. When you 're 80 years old, style does n't really matter. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. While i did not own a helmet my wife has a helmet that she Periodically wears, mostly when biking with her parents, who wear helmets. I am pretty sure it is the first helmet ever made. I actually think it is older than she is, possibly a hand me down from a much older sibling who likely never wore it. I started looking and found a signal in white at DSG. I bought it and tried it on and was satisfied with how it fit. I did not wear it until my ride that required it. Finally i wore it on the ride, WOW It had an awesome fit and i was happy with the number of vents and how light it was. Darn it is so well vented light and comfortable you dont even know you have it on. Yesterday we decided to take an all day ride and i said that I would wear my new helmet so of course my wife wore hers. Halfway through she asked …no begged me to try my helmet. On several occasions she mentioned how nice it was compared to her ancient helmet. When we switched back she only wore her helmet briefly before removing it and hanging it on the handle bars and announcing she wanted a new helmet too. Any questions just ask my wife.

This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. Neither my husband or I wore a bike helmet in the past. This spring I bought an expensive bell helmet mail order and wore it two or three times before leaving it on the shelf for good it felt a little large too me and very uncomfortable. After i got my husband a speedometer this summer we noticed we were often going 20 mph or faster. After my husband came home From a solo ride where he said he was going particularly fast almost 30 mph( yikes) I told him that he should really be wearing a helmet and suggesting he try the helmet I had bought. I noticed my husband returned home from from his next few solo rides with my helmet. I finally asked how he liked wearing a helmet and he told me it was quite comfortable and made him feel much safer. He also asked how i would feel If he wore it while We rode together. I of course told him i was fine with that. After a few rides where he wore it and i wore my hat, I decided to buy another helmet, but this time i decided I was going to the store to try some on. I found the fixture in blue for a great price and loved the way it felt when i tried it on. On my first ride I realized how awesome it was to have a good fitting helmet. i was really happy with how much better it felt. Honestly sometimes I forget i have it on. Absolutely no regrets with this helmet.

I never wear a helmet when i bike. My wife owns several helmets and will sometimes wear one when we ride together, and she always wears one when she rides with her parents. Recently we were going on a ride with her parents. As we were packing up my wife said i had to wear a helmet and gave me her persist. When i gave her a funny look she said you know my mom is a nurse and obsessives over safety just wear it. I said okay and She helped me get it fitted. The helmet fit my normal male head and with some minor strap adjustments i was able to get a great fit. I snugged up the chin strap when we set off. During the ride It actually was very very light and comfortable very well vented and did not feel hot. It felt safe and i am sure i was riding harder than usual. When we were done my wife asked what I thought. I told her i liked it and was considering my own. She seemed surprised excitedly that i was being safe. She also told me i was more than welcome to wear it on any ride since she has multiple helmets.

As a loving wife I naturally worry about my husband ’s well being. I have never been big on helmets so once the kids hit their teens they quit wearing their helmet and my husband and i never wore helmets. My husband used to bike with the boys but they are gone now sooo he rides alone and of course i worry about him while he is riding by himself. He always wear bright colors and an orange hat. Recently i purchased him a smith persist in poppy. When i gave it to him i said he did not have to wear it i just wanted him to have the option. When he put it on I was really surprised and a bit excited as i had secretly wished he would wear it. After his first ride he told me the helmet was really nice and it made him feel safe. He does not wear it on every ride but he does wear it often it seems to like it.

The helmet is great. But like anything you wear, the fit is what counts. In my case, the front pushes my safety glasses down and out of my nose. My previous helmet did not have this problem. Again, I do not think it is a problem with the helmet itself, but you may want to consider visiting your Local Bike Shop( LBS) to buy a helmet you can try on with your glasses, etc.

Neither my husband or I previously wore a helmet. My husband does ride quite regularly and often by himself and i have suggested he buy himself a helmet. Earlier this summer I noticed a new silver halyconhelmet in the garage with the bike stuff. Not gon na lie it looked pretty good. He chuckled and said he got it after he hit 30 mph on a ride but didn ’ t think we would be going quite that fast today. I asked if i could wear it and of course he said absolutely. The helmet fit my normal female head and with some minor strap adjustments i was able to get a great fit. I snugged up the chin strap and we set off. During the ride It actually was very very light and comfortable very well vented and did not feel hot. It felt safe and i am sure i was riding harder than usual as my husband told me to slow down at least once. When we were done as i was taking it off my husband asked what I thought. My husband is probably the safest most conscientious biker i know. He follows the rules of the road wears lots of bright clothes and is never fast or dangerous. He has also never worn a helmet and neither have i. This spring he got a new bike and a silver halycon helmet. I was not happy with him wearing it as it made me feel he was being unsafe and I thought it was ridiculous. [ Literally crashed head first into a metal fence first time wearing this helmet,( obviously not on purpose) and it saved my life. Most likely would ’ ve wound up unconscious but instead wound up with a small dent from my visor. I def hit that fence HARD but this helmet held up without much damage. Can ’ t say the same about my body! Lol! Only downfall to this helmet is they there ’s no ponytail hole. That part is def a bummer.

As a nurse I naturally worry about my husband ’s and my own well being. I have never been big on helmets as they usually give me a headache so when we ride we wear ballcaps to protect against the sun. My husband likes to ride alone and of course i worry about him while he is riding by himself. I always make sure he is wearing his hat and a bright shirt and tell him to be careful. Sometimes i add he should be extra cautious since he doesn ’ t have a helmet which is ironic since i dont have one either. Recently when he was headed out for a ride i gave him the normal sendoff talk and he said he had something he wanted to show me and pulled out a yellow lazer codex helmet. I was really surprised and a bit excited as i had secretly wished he would wear a helmet. Afterwards he told me the helmet was really nice and it made him feel safe. I tried it on and took a short ride in the neighborhood and did not get a headache and it was light and airy. I am not a fan of the yellow but will get myself a helmet now as well.

While i previously did not own a helmet my wife had a helmet that she would Periodically wear. Mostly she wore it when biking with her parents, who wear helmets. It was white and very plain with few vents was likely the first helmet ever made. I actually think it is older than she is, probably a hand me down a from a much older sibling who likely never wore it. Not only is it heavy, it has a white foam interior and an impossible to adjust buckle land looks pretty dated. When she wears it she does not have much to say good or bad. When we would ride just the two of us she almost never wears it. Occasionally when I would ride alone she would remind me that i was more than welcomed to wear her helmet. i did end up wearing it for some additional protection last fall when there were wet leaves. It was actually nice peace of mind however it was of poor fit and I was terrified that was the way all helmets fit and did not pursue getting one of my own. This past weekend i was going out on a long ride and my wife handed it too me saying “ it will make me feel better ”. So of course i wore it. I forgot it was on and did not duck low enough under a tree branch and hit it hard enough that it broke. when I returned home from a ride i told her i broke her helmet and suggested i would get her a new one. I found the kineticore in white at public lands and bought it. I tried it on and was impressed with how it fit. My wife couldn ’ t believe how much better it was than the old. it is so well vented light and comfortable you she forgets she has it on. My wife is now asking when i will get my own.
