This specific coat has been used by contestants in the Iditarod Dog Sled Race in Alaska, so I figured it it could keep them warm in- 20 to- 50 F degree weather, it would work for my mom. The coat has a bunch of pockets and storage, waterproof and thick material that doesn ’ t rip easily like with down coats. It ’s durable and will last a long, long time. [ Purchased this after my favorite KUHL jacket of a similar design gave it up…pilled, zippers tore, etc. Anyway, bought the Fjallraven a size smaller to be more form fitting and as a warm solo in just cool weather and under layer when cold. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ” and 185. This jacket is now my favorite. Tighter weave, no pilling expected, warmer and a great fit. Yeh, the zippers aren ’ t great but they won ’ t snag due to they are protected with flaps(?). Plus there are cinches in the side pockets. Not sure how they work but we ’ ll see.

[ This is a great looking fleece! The fit is a little slim and very comfortable with plenty of length in the arms for someone tall, slim, and lanky like I am. And the size chart is very accurate. Size small is just right for a 6 foot tall, 135lb weirdo like me. The material itself feels quality with a very tight knit in the polyester fabric. It's light and not too thick and still provides the mid- level warmth I was hoping for. The long collar also zips all the way up comfortably just in case the wind starts blowing too. The shoulder material is also pretty great if you 're in and out of a backpack often. One gripe I do have is that the pockets are n't fully insulated. They 're more of a mesh material on the inside, so they do n't do a fantastic job of keeping bare hands warm, especially if its windy. Not a big enough issue to drop a full star off, but might knock it down to 4. 5/5 if I had the option.

[ Overall it's a good fleece jacket, thick enough to keep you warm with an outer jacket. However, it is definitely a mid- layer as far as it is by no means windproof. So I would not rely on it without a shell layer. Do not be misled by references to the reinforcement by G- 1000 fabric. There are just small accents on the shoulders, more of a design feature than any practical functions. This fleece is true to size. A high and tight collar is a real lifesaver in winter, as well as a drawcord at hem. A big pro is that the fleece has a nice texture, trendy accents like leather pullers on zippers, and a tight fit. Hence you may wear it both on a trail and out in a city or office.

This is a good one which goes to mid thigh on me( 5' 2 '') with the rounded swoop in the back that looks a bit stylish. [ The stretch is so nice. I love that the neck does not have a seam and so it touches softly against your face. The color was not as pictured, however, in the dark night. It ’s not teal, it ’s like a dark true blue.

[ I live in the Ozarks and am traveling to Iceland in April. I love my outdoor life, hiking, and winter living when I 'm dressed accordingly. I wanted the warmest coat I could buy that was light weight and would not be bulky on planes, trains, and automobiles. This beauty is it. I am in LOVE with this cozy jacket. Feels like a down comfortable- warm and my new best friend. The fabric is also forgiving also- a gentle stretch and great color. The technical aspects- length, 700 loft, attached hood, zippable pockets, and wrist fit- batting a perfect game. Most importantly, the fit is perfect. I am 5' 4 '', 178 lbs and purchased a large because I wanted to layer over base layers. Iceland here I come.

[ I just retired from being a park ranger so did my research concerning warmth, the ability to layer& leg freedom to hike& snow shoe etc. It dodges that sleeping bag feel w/out giving up the warmth factor. The high collar& hood fit comfortably. It is an investment which will hopefully pay off for some years as it is not overly Fashioned as to look outdated. Gotten some compliments on it. I bought the Stretchdown Parka to replace my Stretchdown Hoodie, which was too big due to weight loss. I wasn ’ t sure I loved the look of the parka as much as the hoodie, but I love the following parka features: 1. The collar zips up high eliminating the need for a scarf. 2. I am unable to revise my previous negative review. Hence this second review, following up to share the wonderful customer care I have received after notifying the company of my dissatisfaction with the insulation factor in this jacket. Please be advised that this parka is not suitable for extremely cold conditions on its own. As the company explains, and of which I was completely unaware, this parka needs a lighter jacket under- layer in cold climates. It it roomy enough to comfortably accommodate under layers, which does indeed create a much warmer experience in extreme temperatures; a common occurrence where I live. We routinely experience temperatures well below zero.

Love this jacket. Bought it for warmer ski days and even on cold days with a few layers underneath it kept me pretty warm. It ’s long and covers my butt which I like when skiing and the collar is fleece lined so it ’s nice and soft when you zip it up all the way over your chin. Cool design too! Love it.

This Parka is perfect! First time wearing it, I was on a hike up a 4, 000' mountain with single tempts and a stiff wind. I was completely cozy. No drafts up the bottom thanks to the added waist closure. With the hood and zipper up, my head was very protected. I have a small and there was enough room to wear a base layer and soft shell underneath. Love all the pockets, that are where they should be. It is also breathable which is a bonus when climbing up. Highly recommended!

[ I love this jacket! It's super warm, so much so that I can wear a thin long sleeve( or short sleeve) t- shirt underneath and be just fine. Great quality workmanship and materials.
