It says it is a fast tip but it certainly is n't as fast as others I have used. Great for treble hook baits as well as texas rig stuff. Purchased this reel a few weeks ago and finally got to use it today. pulled in a 8 pound 26 inch channel catfish with ease. The clicker is awesome, i was standing 20- 30 feet away and herd it over the noise from the rapids. Great reels. I have 2 and am shopping for another. Wo n't buy it here because they do not have the higher gear ratio in the left hand retrieve model. Only 4 stars because it comes with combat grips instead of Winn knobs. But, I have swapped the combat grips for Winn round knobs. I even contacted Lew's and was able to get black and gold end caps for the knobs. I have one on a TP1 Black and the other on a Custom Lite. The reels cast great, the retrieve is smooth, and they are strong. And, they look good too. Get one today.

We have a pair of these in the rocket tubes for Northeast striper fishing. They are on Ugly Stik 6. 5' Tiger Elites. The reel is strong, big crank, the level winder is strong enough for 40# plus stripers and its one less thing to worry about when you are hooked up with a big bass. This reel is a prime example of when engineering meets functionality. Its extremely lightweight, sleek and has excellent adjustments for precision casting. It also solves the problem of being able to throw light lures a long way so you can put your lures in the strike zone without getting too close and spooking the fish. The reel action and drag are both exceptionally smooth and the ergonomics are fantastic even for those with slightly larger hands. This reel will remain a favorite in my fishing arsenal for foreseeable future.

This is my first BFS baitcasting reel, and it lives up to the promises of being able to cast lighter baits further. It certainly works better once dialed in properly, but as a relative novice on casting reels I was able to get near optimal settings within a two attempts and was matching my casting distances compared to a spinning reel. The gear ratio makes for a faster retrieve, and the overall weight is very light when paired with an ultralight rod. I will still keep a spinning reel for when I want to drop a bait to a certain depth since that is easy to measure by counting turns on the reel, but for all other finesse applications I will most likely be using this reel in the future.
