This specific coat has been used by contestants in the Iditarod Dog Sled Race in Alaska, so I figured it it could keep them warm in- 20 to- 50 F degree weather, it would work for my mom. The coat has a bunch of pockets and storage, waterproof and thick material that doesn ’ t rip easily like with down coats. It ’s durable and will last a long, long time. I like how there is an adjustable strap at the waist so that you can cinch it to fit your figure better and it won ’ t let air escape through the coat. It ’s fashionable and functional. I bought this jacket to wear for skiing but have been wearing it at other times also. It is warm and I love the fur hood. I do wish that there were thumb holes in the inner sleeves and maybe another pocket inside the jacket on the other side( there is one on the left side) to stick tissues, money, etc. but it's a great jacket and very comfy.
