I always hike in stretch pants, sometimes using gaiters. When I first put these on, they felt odd to me, especially the “ bent ” knees. I ’ ve learned to love them very quickly. They ’ re durable and comfortable. The only thing I ’ d say is that this set of hiking pants has a very high waist and I like something with a lower rise. Fjallraven is my husband ’s current go- to brand. With the decline in quality we ’ ve seen in so many outdoor sports companies over the years, Fjallraven has been high on our list for maintaining quality standards.

This set is overall one of the best winter base layer fits I ’ ve had the chance to try out in the elements( as of yet). The fleecy layer inside isn ’ t too thick, so it will keep you decently warm while not feeling overly constricting( it won ’ t ruin or take away from your outfit either). If I was to give constructive feedback on anything, it would be that they are a little short in length( mind you, I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ”). So, I ’ m really not picky about that kind of thing( for leggings in particular). Especially as they do have a bit of stretch. I would say that they are relatively true to size, maybe size down if you ’ re on the more petite side of the spectrum.

[ Hiking in my neighboring Rocky Mountains means lots of interactions with scratchy, rippy surfaces. These Nikka Curved provide terrific reinforcement in the right areas. [ These are literally the only non- wide leg outdoor pants that have ever fit my thighs and hips without falling down or gaping at the waist. I love them so much. They are so durable. I love that the fabric is weather resistant, quick drying, and ventilated. I love Fjällräven ’s warranty. They aren ’ t quite as high rise on the back as I would like, but otherwise these are amazing and comfortable and I would happily grab a drink or dinner in the( admittedly very casual) PNW urban area after. These are not my first pair and will not be my last, but that ’s because I love them so much. The first ones from a few years ago are still holding up despite multiple slides on scree, grazes with my crampons, and other issues that lesser pants could never dream to be able to handle. They are long, but the edges are raw so you can hem them yourself. I have adenomyosis and endometriosis and so sometimes I get that pregnant- looking belly, and then they do feel tight, but that ’s true of almost everything. Normal bloating doesn ’ t make them uncomfortable. For me, I would say they run larger than almost all trousers but smaller than the Fjällräven Abisko trekking and trail tights.

The blue is flattering though shows dirt. The dark garnet color is pretty but did n't jive with my style. I can fit size 38 EU but 40 EU+ belt is more comfortable and still looks just fine. Took these on a trip around the Colorado four pass loop. As is typical, we got caught in an afternoon storm at 10, 000 feet and suited up. Pants kept us dry from the rain and wete sufficiently breathable for 2 hours of rainy hiking. They are definitely pants to put on BEFORE it rains because the ankle zips do n't accommodate footwear too well. But I knew that going in. I bought a pair of these pants about 20 years ago and wore them until recently when the lining started to deteriorate. I have a hard time finding pants long enough for my 33 '' inseam, but these pants are perfect! I 'm 5' 8 '', 140 pounds, with a slim build and the medium fits perfectly. I usually wear long johns or long johns plus another pair of warm pants under these and there is plenty of room. I thought, why not use a legging as my baselayer and then if I need to strip off, I am not hiking through bramble in my woolies? I was worried as there is no drawstring at the waist, I wondered if the weight of my phone in the side pocket would pull the pants down over time. The good news is that the pants stay up very well. I was provided this model of Ferrosi Hybrid leggings to replace a previous pair( the warranty issue was such a complete fluke that really, I should have bought a lottery ticket because the chances of it happening in another pair of leggings would be next to impossible). So A. GREAT work OR for standing behind your products and B. They were replaced by a newer model. Turns out, this is a super cute legging. I love the pockets- they are placed well, good size, extremely functional. I am not sure if I am entirely sold on the two tone black color. I at first bought a size small and they fit me like a glove, then returned for a medium so that I could wear them on top of my bottom layers for the day. The bottom of the pants have an elastic to go around your boot to keep snow from getting in your pants and boots and that seemed to hold up well despite me trucking along in several feet of snow.

After being pleased with my MH shell, I decided to try these bibs and so glad I did. So far they 've been worn skiing and snowmobiling in various conditions, from 28 degrees and snowing 2 '' an hour, pouring rain, and cold dry single digit weather. The waterproofing is superior, and blocks the wind well enough. The fabric is comfortable and does n't feel constricting. I 'm 5' 2 '', about 130 lbs, with pretty beefy legs and butt. The medium short is definitely roomy, which is what I wanted to allow for layering and freedom of movement. I LOVE that there are options for length. This should be standard in the industry! The leg pockets fit a phone perfectly and have stayed waterproof. The chest pockets are more for sunglasses, chapstick etc, and not a phone, but you should n't have your phone right next to your beacon anyways. The zipper works well enough for peeing. It's a pretty easy process. Overall, this bib is just a great no- nonsense product that does exactly what you need it to do: Keep you dry and comfortable.

I am 5'10 and based on the size guide I fit a small long. However, the main issue I had was that the torso was too short, even with the straps at maximum length. I do not believe these would fit someone taller than me unless they have a relatively short torso. The quality seemed great, but these bibs would be better if there was a front zipper or if the straps could be unhooked. At its current design, you have to lift the straps over your head which is almost impossible if you also have on a helmet. If the torso length could be adjusted along with the strap issue, this would be a five star product.

I do n't like reviews that say `` love these '' or some such, since it tells me very little. So... I am 5' 2 and weigh 152 pounds. My inseam is usually 28 inches, no more than 29. I ordered the large and they were perfect in length, landing right at my ankles with a little sag for give in the knees, and for squatting. I have a bit of a straight waist that is short- the waist band is about a 2 inch band that did NOT roll over or down and did not bind so the waist was just right. Fit perfect in the hips, and I have a butt so they stretched without gapping or sagging down in the back. I washed them in warm water, rinsed in cold and hung them up to dry. Dried quickly. They were warm without being hot, did not bunch in the crotch, and I had on jeans over them. Worked outside on the farm and stayed cozy. Went back and bought two more pairs.

I absolutely love these pants when guiding out on trips in the winter. Along with wearing them for long winter hikes. The adjustable waist Velcro is a huge win in my book since most pant waists do n't fit me properly. A few other features I love on these pants in the boot lace hook, the brush guard on the ankle, and the zip close pockets. This is my second pair and they hold up so well, highly recommend them!
