We have a lot of good trails near our house and the streets to get to them have a lot of hills and trees that provide shade and encourage wildlife. I really like Merrell's barefoot shoes as I 've had a few pairs of Vapor Trail Gloves over the years. I switched it up this time with the Wrapt Sneaker because I wanted a more casual look. So far I have about 65 miles on my pair of morphlites. They are one of the best shoes I have ever owned for the price. The upper feels very durable and substantial without being hot or stiff. The sole provides a good amount of cushion under foot. I have noticed minimal compression lines in the sole within my 65 miles on them. It appears larger in stack height than they actually are which if you are missing minimal stack shoes in the sea of high stacks these are an awesome option. The tread is not Vibram which keeps the cost lower but it is still a nice rubber. The lug pattern and shorter lug depth makes them great on roads but, in my opinion they really shine on gravel and fire roads. They have more than enough trail cred that you can take them on some beginner trail running too. I will say that when I attempted to take them on so real trail runs they definitely did not feel great but, that is certainly not what they are designed to do. I give kudos to merrell for coming out with a solid hybrid trail/pavement shoe.

Slow and persistent
I just ordered my 4th pair of these. I love them and have completed several trail events ranging from 1/1 marathon distance to 50k wearing them. I even wore them when I ran the Chicago marathon last October, Honolulu Marathon in December and the Rock and Roll half marathon in Vegas in February- they were great on pavement too. I go through shoes pretty quickly, but these hold up well especially if you ’ re not a wrecking crew with your shoes, which I admit is a good description of me. I highly recommend them.

Have worn these shoes a little over a month. Primarily for everyday use. The shoe is attractive and looks well built. The lugs on the sole are aggressive making it great for wearing on snow and ice. The shoe also has amble cushioning. They can be worn all day with little foot fatigue. The fit is true to size. I wear a medium width. The down sides are for me a little difficult to get the shoe on. The loops that are used to pull the shoe on are too small making it difficult to slide on without breaking down the backs. Also the bungee shoe strings do n't seem to stay tight. I 'm considering going to laces. A good value for the money.

These are an awesome sneaker. I love a slip on shoe and these allow you to have a slip on style shoe but still feel nice and snug with their lacing system. The padding around the ankle and heel is SO soft and comfortable. It feels like a tempur- pedic pillow for your foot/ankle. These are great for a trail but also just for normal walks or going around town. My only recommendation for improvement would be that the end of the laces/string bounces around a bit while you are walking. I have just been tucking them back under the laces to fix this but would be nice if there was something on the shoe that could do this for me. Either way, awesome shoe!

Out of the box, I would have guessed I had 50+ miles on them already, they felt broken in and so light that I could n't believe I had a durable running shoe on my feet. I found I was pushing myself harder just because of how great the shoes felt. I can not speak on the longevity of the shoe but will update the review if they fail.

First hard effort in these was an 11 mile trail race in the Adirondacks. Weight is superb and grip was more than adequate through a mix of singletrack, mud, roots and rock slick with humidity. I 'd last run this course in a pair of VJ Sparks and these were better in nearly every regard. Race went great. The fit is just a bit long and I did kick the toe a few times- if purchasing again I 'm 50- 50 staying with my size or going down a half. Only other change I 'd make is a millimeter or two more of foam- barely more, but these did feel a little bit harsh at low 5/min downhill miles. That said, they ARE race shoes. Great job Merrell.

I just ordered my second pair of the Rubatos to replace the ones I ordered a year ago. I walk about 1- 4 miles a day and have worn these on about 66% of those walks. They provide plenty of cushioning and support. I can wear these for long periods of time without my lower back and feet hurting. Suggestions to make this the perfect shoe: a little bit better ventilation, a little more width in the toe box and maybe add 1mm to the lugs. The lack of availability in colors and sizes makes me think these are or will be discontinued:>{ I wish Merrell would make more zero drop shoes and sandals.

After running through two pairs of the original Long Sky shoe, my expectations were high for the 2nd version. Kudos to Merrell, LS2 meets and exceeds the performance of the original version. These shoes are light for the support you get underfoot, have excellent traction from Vibram, and I appreciate the added gaiter attachment points. I 'm about 200 miles into my current pair and so far no noticeable points of excessive wear+tear. If I had to be critical, I wish there was a little more padding in back for my achilles, but it has n't been a problem so far, just something I would change if I could. Great shoe, eager to see how many miles I can get out of them.

These shoes are incredible! They 're light so you 'll feel quick and agile in the trail and they also have great traction for grip on technical trails. The draining system on these shoes is great too, going through water and mud the Long Sky 2s drain out quickly so they stay light through your run. I raced a trail marathon with 9000 feet of gain, some technical ridge running, and some mud and slop in it and these shoes held up well the whole way!

I brought the Long Sky 2 as one of my shoes for a 120 hour ultra. The race involved 150 miles and 50, 000 feet of vert. The Long Sky's were the only shoe I needed for comfort, light weight, breathability, and trust. Trust was important with steep ascents and descents. The Long Sky's give me a sense of stability without sacrificing manuverability in extreme environments. This is quite easily the best trail shoe I 've ever worn.

The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. I ’ ve had 6 of the 7 generations of TGs, as well as a few of the Vapor Gloves. If you ’ ve never had a minimalist shoe, they are fantastic, but definitely go with Trail before Vapor. This is also good advice to anyone running on harsh trails or loose rocks. These TGs have a lot of absorption, considering the sole thickness. Also, they tell you that the shoes run large, but I would only size up if you have wide feet! If you have normal to narrow feet, I ’ d recommend sticking to size and knowing that they should feel a bit “ sock- like ” without generating any significant toe friction. I just started using them so I can not comment on the quality. I can say that I ’ ve used many categories of Merrell shoes and boots, and with the exception of one single pair of TGs( gen3, I believe), the build quality has been solid.

I recently competed in the Back to Bataan Memorial half marathon wearing these shoes. Ten days earlier I had gone on a 10 mile walk wearing my waterproof Merrill Moabs, which was a mistake and I should have known better. I developed a large blister due to the heat, which I medicated prior to the BTM event. Worried about what shoe to wear, I purchased a pair of the Speed Strike 2, and had exactly 3 miles on them when I entered the race. It was the smartest decision I made. They were light and handled the dirt and sand perfectly, and I could n't even tell I had an issue with the blister. My feet got a little dirty, but I never felt over- heated. They were great right out of the box.

I had just received my trail glove 8s and absolutely love them! I have owned every generation since Trail Glove 4, which were my favorites. After Gen 5, it seemed Merrell scrapped the wider toe box of the Trail Glove which severely reduced comfort; the Gen 6 and 7s were tighter on the sides, not to mention ugly. These return to the wider toe box, improved arch support, and it seems they reinforced the sides to prevent tearing( which was a problem with the gen 4s and 5s). Not to mention they look nicer than the previous two Gens. I 'm giving these five stars, however time will tell if they are durable. But for now, I 'm satisfied and highly recommend.

This is my second pair. As I get older, I find my feet need more help than they did in the past. I have been walking g 5- 6 miles per day and have recently discovered the barefoot style of shoes. These Trail gloves, while perhaps not as flexible in the sole as some other brands, really feel good on my feet. Plenty of room in the toe box and zero drop adhere to the barefoot style. Also the stack height is just right for me as it protects from sharp rocks. One of my absolute favorite features of these shoes is the burrito tongue. It ’s genius! Typical tongues on other shoes tend to roll to the outside of my feet and become off center, making the. Uncomfortable. Trail Glove 8s do not! Nor do the Vapor Glove 7s. These are a winner for me!

I 've had spine fusion and the burrito tongue makes it so much easier to put shoes on. Back flexibility becomes an issue. The denser sole helps a great deal for long days on my feet. I ordered the Merrell for the first time in years. I usually need a wide shoe but occasionally can get by with ordering a 1/2 size up in a regular width. The trouble is knowing whether I was going to be an 8. 5 or a 9 in the Merrell shoe. This 9 Merrell still fits a bit too snug for me. I also got the same pair in black in the 9 Wide and it turns out the Wide shoe will become my everyday shoe and this one will be pulled out when I need a lighter color.
