This review is for the Hook reveal 5 splitshot with Inland maps. I love this unit so far! I just used it to fish for jumbo perch on open water. My transducer is mounted on back of the boat, so I anchor and then drop my jig near the back of the boat. I can see the fish come in to inspect the lure, I would almost always catch a fish once I saw one on the screen. I really love the detail and I 've been using pallette 13 split with downscan as recommended. from a few friends. Most recently, I used the unit to troll for walleye, it clearly marks suspended off the bottom and has made my fishing experience more enjoyable!

Only used my helix 9 four times so far. The cursor sometimes jumps 3 or 4 contour when trying to follow the contour, then sometimes indexes smoothly about 1/2 contour line at a time the way it should. Today I checked the water temperature and my Helix said it was 188 degrees and changing rapidly in the range of 195 to 175 degrees!!! I 'd been on the water for about 3 hours. It eventually fixed itself and read 46. 7 degrees which was probably correct! Not too happy so far, we 'll see!?!?

In the last year I switched electronic brands and chose to put all Humminbirds in my boat. Personally I like the visibility of the screens better. While I 've only had three opportunities to fish with this locator since I 've purchased it, it seems to perform very well. I particularly like the clarity of the screens and the split screen option. The clarity on the flasher screen is so much better than a traditional flasher unit. It does have great separation capabilities. The lure charge function is really handy. Especially after my buddy dropped his lure charging flash light down the hole! I also like the automatic transducer angle selection of the unit. I must admit I would like an even wider transducer angle for shallow water applications. I do still have much to learn about this product. To that end, I do wish a detailed operations manual was included. I am looking forward to discovering its full capabilities and applications. So far this product meets my expectations( which are high) for a Humminbird product.

This is a really solid basic unit, especially for seeing topography and water temperatures. It certainly does show fish and all of that good stuff but can ’ t really use it for targeting fish because once it shows up they ’ re behind the boat you ’ re not exactly sure how far back they may have swam away anyway, however, it is really good for targeting lots of biologic activity because that ’s where you catch the fish like where there ’s bait fish like swarms a fish. You can usually think they ’ ll be some larger fish there that you can target

I purchased this locator in May of this year. It was easy to install and worked out of the box. I installed a cut off switch between the battery cable and the positive line to make sure the GPS was not drawing power when not in use. This is the first Lowrance unit I owned that I did n't have to constantly make adjustments to get good readings. I can turn it on and concentrate on catching fish.

The Helix 7 with GPS, Mega down imaging, and Mega side imaging has been a phenomenal addition to my kayak fishing. I no longer feel like I am fishing blindly in the winter when the fish go deep. The `` Mega '' provides extremely detailed views of submerged structure, bottom composition, vegetation, and identify fish well beyond what I imagined possible with this unit. The included Humminbird Basemaps have helped me navigate some of the larger lakes, and the autochart live feature has enabled me to create my own maps of the smaller local lakes I fish. Awesome motor!
This is the 2nd force motor I ’ ve owned and I think this latest one( bought in 2024) has an even quieter steering motor than the 1st( bought in 2020). It ’s also such an improvement over a competitor ’s auto stow/deploy motor whose spot lock would ‘ give up ’ occasionally after trying to continuously over correct the steering in one direction and getting wrapped up in its power cabling, instead of turning the motor back 360 degrees in the opposite direction to correct itself. The Force never loses itself with gps lock, especially when swimming away from the boat with a decent wind that pushes the boat away from you when you thought the motor was holding the boat! It ’s also much more powerful than this auto stow/deploy motor I had, by a good 20% I estimate. Overall a great motor! Only complaint is I wish the livescope cabling could be ‘ built- in ’ to the motor shaft.

Background: I ’ ve owned 3 Ulterras from version 1 though the last version before Quest. All of them broke multiple times each. Steering modules and trim belts mostly but also a couple of trim modules. Installed the new Ulterra Quest about3 weeks ago on a Northwest style deep vee aluminum boat with a hardtop. The mount is huge and bow space is limited on this style of boat. Measure carefully before you commit to this motor. Also consider that the motor/mount protrudes very far out from the side of the boat. This iteration of the Ulterra seems to be built a lot tougher than the previous versions. The aluminum chassis looks about 3x thicker and the stow/deploy mechanism looks a lot more robust. The steering torque is many times greater. The holding torque is also greatly enhanced- will hold live image transducer mounted at 90 degrees to the motor in position even at high trolling speed( 5mph for me). The motor itself is much quieter than the previous versions and seems to be stronger- at least it pulls my boat faster- about 4. 5mph vs about 3. 2mph. The remote control is a bit of a disappointment. The display is almost unreadable while wearing sunglasses. The buttons, especially the side buttons are stiff and difficult to press. The remote is not intuitive to me, the combination of keys is cumbersome. I 'm sure I will get accustomed to it over time. Not having to charge it with that silly cable that never stayed connected is its biggest advantage from my point of view so far. Overall, I ’ m satisfied with the new motor. Time will tell if this is truly a more reliable motor and will let MinnKota earn back my trust.

MEGA 360 provides excellent resolution and great detail on what is around me when fishing. It has helped me so far with spring shallow water fishing and now is becoming a great tool for working deep weedlines, rock piles, and submerged structure. MEGA 360 is a great product and has definately helped me catch more fish in less time.
