I needed a rod to fish the ocean from central Ohio. Small enough to pack in an airline overhead compartment, medium action, 7 ft long, rated for 10- 50 lbs line and 3/4- 6oz lures. Only caught 5 grunts on first outing but worked like my freshwater Ugly Styks.

I 've got several ugly stiks and this rod is also really nice. First of all, it's a fast action rod which means the top 1/3 bends and the rest offers really strong backbone. It's specially great for offshore/boat fishing for rockfish, ling, hamachi, yellowfin, halibut, and striper. Also I love the one piece stainless steel guide rings. No need to worry about cracked ceramic. One thing would be great is having a bottom( butt) cap like Ugly Stik jigging rod. But it's not an issue at all. Anyways, it feets good and sturdy. Definitely satisfied with my purchase.

This is my 9th white Bird rod and it's specs are definitely more accurate than the 7' and 7' 4 '' model. The 7' 4 ''s were intended for flipping but are to parabolic and are now my best crankbait rods I have. This 7' 6 '' has alot of backbone but 2 feet of the tip has a slight amount of forgiveness but is not flimsy.
