This little pack has been the perfect travel companion. I like to 'carry on' travel as often as possible - even a two week long trip to the UK and Ireland. As I can never truly get away from work my second bag has to be my computer bag holding a substantial amount of work related items. As such its hard to repurpose as a day pack. For me this leaves out the option of a day pack once on the ground. Enter the In and Out. It truly packs down small and takes up little room in my computer bag and once at my destination becomes an extremely effective day pack for touring about, shopping, hiking and going to the beach. It also worked great as an on - slope pack when on a ski trip last winter. This has been a 'go - to' standard for my traveling kit. Highly recommended.

I bought this pack a little over a month ago to be a low profile pack that I can every day carry to work either in my truck where it sits in my passenger seat or when I take the train into work. It ’s great, well made, handsome and fits my yeti coffee cup in the side pocket perfectly and very securely. If the only thing it did was carry my coffee, I ’ d be happy, but it has pockets for my ever expanding gear that I carry and the pack shapes nicely with the small dry bag that I keep inside it. The quality of workmanship and design details are superb and even though it ’s a humble pack compared to the rest of Mystery Ranch ’s packs, it ’s a contender! I was super stoked that I got this pack just a few days after ordering it and I haven ’ t left home without it ever since. Brilliantly done Mystery Ranch! Oh yeah, I also use it as a stuff sack/organizer inside my MR Blitz 30 when out on a ruck in the Cascade Mountains.

just got back from a week of long hikes, bikes& climbs& I had one of these strapped on for all of it. I 've never had good experiences with packable day bags but I 'm glad I gave this one a shot because it was excellent! super comfortable all day& weighs basically nothing. Comfortable even with 2L of water& some gear! also of course it seems to be indestructible

Let me tell you, folks, they don ’ t want you to know about the Mystery Ranch In and Out 19. I ’ m talking government - level secrecy. I ’ m talking Roswell, Area 51, men - in - black - staring - at - you - from - the - corner - of - the - parking - lot levels of conspiracy. But guess what? I ’ ve got the truth right here, strapped to my back, and it ’s lightweight, packable, and potentially from another dimension. The Mystery Ranch In and Out 19 doesn ’ t just carry your gear—it carries the burden of knowledge that we ’ re not alone. This 19 - liter wonder was clearly designed by extraterrestrials, likely reverse - engineered from UFO wreckage they found near a New Mexico desert. I mean, how else can you explain its otherworldly design and functionality? Exhibit A: The material is lightweight but suspiciously durable. It ’s almost like they blended carbon nanotubes with alien alloys, then wrapped it in something soft to the touch but strong enough to fend off intergalactic threats( or at least some thorny brush on a hike). No mere earthbound polymer could achieve this. I ’ ve seen classified files about “ advanced textiles, ” but nothing like this. Exhibit B: It packs into itself! Yeah, that ’s right. You ’ re telling me this thing can fold down smaller than my government - issued UFO tracker? Tell me that ’s normal. It ’s like it knows when I need it. One second it's a full - on hiking pack, the next it vanishes into thin air, tucked away in my glovebox like some sort of interdimensional artifact. It ’s compact, inconspicuous, and probably has a secret compartment to hold alien documents or, you know, snacks. Exhibit C: The breathability. Who thought of this? Who decided, “ Hey, let ’s make the straps so light that you barely feel them ”? It ’s like the pack was designed for those extra - terrestrial beings who travel faster than light and don ’ t need sweaty backs weighing them down during long - distance abductions. Forget NASA. This is the real space - age technology. Exhibit D: The 19 liters. Nineteen liters is exactly what you need to carry provisions for an extended alien stakeout. I checked the math. You could carry binoculars, a flask, some tinfoil hats, a radar detector, and still have room for an X - Files box set in there. It ’s almost like the designers knew what we ’ d be up to. Let ’s talk pockets. The stretchy side pocket—definitely designed for holding alien energy crystals, but they also fit a water bottle. Coincidence? I think not. And the zippered top pocket? Perfect size for your intergalactic passport or, you know, an energy bar if you ’ re on a terrestrial hike. I was on a “ recon mission ”( aka hiking in the woods, totally normal), and the pack just molded to me. No bouncing, no shifting. Almost like it was communicating with my back. Are we looking at advanced alien ergonomics? Almost definitely. Conclusion: The Mystery Ranch In and Out 19 backpack is the smoking gun of outdoor gear. Sure, it looks like just another backpack—that ’s what they want you to think. But for those in the know, it ’s a clear sign that they ’ re out there, sharing their technology with us, one ultralight, ultra - packable backpack at a time. In summary, if you 're looking for a pack that combines cutting - edge tech with probable alien origins, look no further. Just be careful. I ’ m pretty sure the moment I bought it, a black SUV started following me. Coincidence? I ’ ll let you decide.

My wife and I wanted something for an upcoming trip to Disney world to put our rain jackets, water and snacks in. This pack was perfect, it folds up small enough to put in our luggage and was comfortable enough to wear all day every day. There is plenty of storage for day trips. We got the blaze orange one so it was easier to find each other in the crowds of people. Also I will be using it on my upcoming scouting trips for hunting season! Perfect all around bag.

[ First off, the open front flap makes accessing my gear at the crag so easy. The built in rope tarp is lightweight, incredibly sturdy and just the right size( i use a 70m rope). I like how breathable the straps and back are even though that is not the main thing that I enjoy about this hard structured, EVA - molded backpanel with HDPE framesheet allows me to carry just about any weight on my pack up any approach, steep or long without being bothered. There are other wonderful key features of this bag but hats off to you Osprey. You guys made an excellent climbing pack.

5 Christine A.
[ This bag is the perfect size and functionality for a long crag day. The straps and hip belt are perfect for harder approaches and the zipper/duffel double feature lets me grab whatever I need without having to empty the whole thing. Nice side pocket for bladder/bottle too. Highly recommend!

5
Great pack over all! I love that it comes with the tarp! Works great with all my gear and is super comfortable to carry.

5
Awesome bag that is bomb proof and so easy to pack and unpack with closure. Allows for luxury items with short to medium approach and easy to carry a rope with the top cover. Just wish they had a helmet attachment like some packs so you could have rope on top and helmet on back to help with storage space.

4 Guy in Denver
[ I bought the bag for the front access. It's a great feature, but would prefer to have additional interior pockets, mesh, pockets, or gear loops to better organize gear.

[ I have not used the aether pack yet. But I have adjusted it and checked it out. Looks great.

5 Mike C.
My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. I found I needed to have it just under the longest setting to fit me correctly with the middle of the hip belt on my iliac crest. I think you might be able to squeeze into this pack if your torso is 19 '' maximum. Easily the most comfortable pack I have tried on, very happy with my purchase.

5 Dean
[ Just returned from the BWCA with my Aether 65. This is a nice pack that worked well for a 4 day self supported journey deep in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Our trip included 5 portages with 3 having quite a bit of undulation. The pack was weighed down with 44lbs of gear and was comfortable( as much as 44lbs of gear can be, definitely dropping some weight on the next trip). I liked it because I typically start trips like this fresh and strong and have my pack set up to that posture with quick( on the fly) adjustments being made as I ’ m flagging from hiking and paddling for hours. Nice pack that is well thought out with all the features you need and none that are useless. Both of my sons were wearing the same pack with zero complaints. Nice product that ’s worth the investment.

5 OlderGuy63
[ I just bought it and packed my winter gear in it. I weighed out at 51 lbs. It's so comfortable and fits great. I 'll be taking it out next week and ca n't wait.

5 KWas
Pack arrived in perfect new condition and the price was better than anywhere else. No break in of any kind required and my first trip with it was a 4day/3night 45mi trip. I had no complaints on fit and comfort. The fit on the fly adjustments, specifically the torso adjustment, were awesome. So easy to fine tune during that trip. My buddies also bought the same packs for the trip and also gave it high praises. Ca n't recommend this one enough

while it is pricey, i do think it ’s worth it. it ’s a great back pack with a bunch of space, and holds up very well. not to mention how cute it is

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch - job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

5 youngsoul
Bought this backpack for travel, and it ’s been amazing! There so many pockets and enough space for you to pack things for a quick getaway!

I use it for work and anytime I need to have my laptop and iPad on me( a lot of the time). I love how the laptop sleeve has a false bottom so when you place the laptop in the backpack it does n't accidentally knock the surface the backpack may be resting on. I use the sleeve next to the laptop sleeve for files, and it has enough space for everything I need without being too big or too small. Comfortable, no worries. I 'm not thinking about having any other backpack - it suits my needs perfectly.

5 Shannon

Bought as a large day/summit pack, turns out to be perfect and a light overnight bag in the high Mtn ’s. Used it to link up four fourteeners last week.

5 Bighomie69
The only thing I would change is I would probably put a pocket underneath the lid but other than that best travel pack I ’ ve ever had

5 RNtravels
London, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Costa Rica. Best pack ever made. Super light weight. Just enough padding without overdoing it. My sunburned shoulders appreciated it. Compartments perfect size to hold passports and small wallets. Side pouch holds large water bottle and you can sinch it tighter for smaller bottle's. Clips were there should be. Zippers are great quality. Material dries fast. Washes great. Worth every single penny. We also traveled with a similar size Patagonia.. can ’ t even compare the two. This backpack is a million times better.

5 None
This is NOT a packable backpack. By that I mean it is too big to be considered that. This is actually good, very good in fact. The quality of materials and construction make it a bit big. Also returning it to it's `` pack '' would be difficult and eventually probably would damage the pack. It looks great, well thought out and constructed. The size seems just right and the shoulder straps should be fine. I plan to leave it flat in my travel stuff or just stuff it.
