[ So far I have hiked with these shoes a little over 20mi. I hiked Mount Monadnock two days each day around 10mi. They are very lightweight while being pretty supportive. I definitely felt confident using these shoes on the Spellman, Pompelly,& Marlboro Trails. Spellman being the steepest trail on the mountain, I had no problem climbing off trail on the steep granite slabs. I was able to use the flat toe part of the boot to to support myself while standing on small cracks in the rock like I was wearing a climbing shoe. It was awesome! I felt like a kid at the playground! Terrain was mostly dry, but there were a couple wet spots that the Megagrip sole did perform well on. Temperature was in the low 70 ’ sF. The only negative I have about the boot, is that it does not breathe well. My feet did sweat considerably wearing a lightweight synthetic sock. Both days I took my shoes and socks off at the summit and removed the Ortholite insoles to dry for a half hour in the sun and wind. The inside of the boots didn ’ t fully dry out. The Ortholight insole mostly dried, because they are very thin. Inersoles could be a little thicker to provide more cushioning, but overall my feet felt good at the end of both hikes. These are aggressive trails for breaking in new shoes, but they felt pretty good out of the box, so I went for it. I think these boots will be best for shoulder season hikes and hikes taking you above tree line. Can ’ t wait to take them to Mount Washington NH!

I 'm glad I took the risk because though I do find it helps to make use of a shoe horn to ease putting them on, with thin running socks they fit just right! Snug but not too tight. I have arthritic knees, and these have the perfect combination of cushion and stability for walking on a variety of terrain, from light hiking trails to gravel to sidewalk. I had wished for different color options, but when they arrived I found the salmon color quite striking, so I 'm quite pleased with that in the end too.

[ Only had a couple of days to wear around the house before a hiking trip to Arizona. I have a slightly wide foot and these fit perfectly even with wool socks and without sizing up. We pack light on flights so had to wear these 90% of the time on our 5 day trip and they were impressively comfortable throughout. I even got a compliment in the airport on how stylish they are. Went on 4 hikes of 2+ hours over somewhat rocky terrain with no soreness whatsoever; excellent traction both on smooth boulders and loose, sandy soil. Have also performed well back home in Wisconsin on wet, slippery leaves/mud. Have only been in use for a few months so ca n't comment on longevity, but would purchase again without hesitation.

Just got these and I have n't had a chance to break them in yet, but based on first impressions I 'm very happy with this purchase. I got the sage color and I think they look even better in person. I have been buying these boots for over ten years now and must be on my 10th or 11th pair. I have flat feet, suffer from plantar fasciitis, and have had a bad case of heel spur,( pain at night and at every step). Then I bought my first pair of Salomon Quest's 4, added some green superfeet insoles( which I wear in all other footwear as well/ but wo n't get the same result) and within a year of wearing these boots for 90% of my walking time about 12000 steps a day, 7 days a week at the time, my heel spur was completely gone, dissolved, my plantar fasciitis pain gone!! No more feeling like walking on rocks when getting out of bed, foot pain gone! So Yes I absolutely love these boots and whenever I wear something different for a couple of days( for formal reasons) my foot pain returns, but reliably melts away when wearing my trusted quest's again. They are super supportive, and feel like a tank around your foot with the comfort of a sneaker right out of the box, 11 pairs, never once a blister. I wish I had these boots back in the day during my time in the military. They are my favorite footwear by far, while I am not hiking, I am walking the unforgiving pavements of New York City. This pair like the loggers I had to break in but only because my feet have bunions and the the toe box is a bit more narrow. This is my first pair of Salomon boots, and I have been very impressed so far. I bought them for hiking, but it's been hard not to wear them every day. They are extremely comfortable, breathe well, and are lighter than some of my sneakers. My one complaint is that I wish the speed hooks at the top were a bit deeper or angled differently. Even laced relatively tightly, I have had a few instances where a lace slipped out of the hook.

I got these after talking to a product specialist at REI. I learned about my arched feet and listened some general pointers that made a whole lot of sense to me. Until then, I usually did my hiking and backpacking with sneakers. Fashion wise, these things look pretty cool, no doubt, however they are a bit flashy for my tastes. I ’ m pretty skinny too so when I wear shorts with these I feel like I ’ m wearing clown shoes. When I hit the trail with these, oh man, it was like night and day in terms of comfort, traction, and foot support( in no particular order). I no longer have to watch my footing to prevent slipping when ascending hills on trails. My feet feel well supported when walking over rocks. As a matter of fact, the sole tech feels like a biolayer that adjusts itself to the bends my feet do when going over uneven terrain. It ’s just bananas! It ’s quite comfortable too and my arches feel supported; not sure how beneficial it is biomechanically, especially as I am currently being sucked into the world of the zero drop/barefoot peeps, but it sure feels comfortable! The REI rep did mention that having good foot support helps with endurance on long distance hikes so that is something I will pay attention to on my next 10+ mile hike. As I learned that my right foot was slightly longer than my left, this could explain why a blister developed on my right foot around the back of the heel ball. I ’ m hoping that after a few more hikes this won ’ t happen anymore. I haven ’ t been able to test out the goretex with water yet( as soon as I do another hike with a running stream, these bad boys are going in), but they seem to breath well. I did a 5 mile ridge hike with them that included multiple cresting points when it was around 80 with no shade and my feet didn ’ t feel too hot after. And since I brought up the barefeet people, I just want to mention the 11mm drop does kind of bothers me. Maybe I ’ m focused on it more, but I feel like there is no space between my heel and the ground when I take a step on level ground; it also feels like my knees are taking the brunt of the impacts when I strike down. However, descending down slopes feels great! The shoe also feels pretty sturdy, however I am eyeing the crease where the shoe bends in the toe box during heel uplift. I intend to care for these shoes after use to see how long I can wear them since I hear a lot about how these types of shoes( trail runners, or a hybrid of one in this case) aren ’ t durable. Anyways, hope to write good things after a year of moderate to heavy use( which for me would be like 100- 250 miles but hopefully more).

[ Im not new to the Danner brand and this is one of thr better fitting examples they have produced. I especially enjoy the the amount of room in the toebox area. A lot of Danner boots/shoes in Regular Width, have become to narrow and the wide width, is simply to wide for me. Typical Danner quality here with just a day of Air travel and walking through airports to get a good break in. They are a stable low top with very little side to side rolling. I am a sz 11 and there is just a little bit of heal slip if I dont tighten the laces up tightly. Good looking shoe too, as I had several compliments in Charlotte and Ohare airports

We just finished up a trip to Arizona- my first hike using my new Timberland Trailquests. I wish I had bought these boots years ago. I assumed they might be a bit stiff and take some time to break in, but I was overly impressed by their immediate comfort. Unlike some of my previous boots that proved to be bulky and heavy, the Trailquest boot is lightweight while remaining extremely supportive, and the sole's design assists with stable traction during the more challenging parts of your hike. On top of being an exceptionally functional boot, they are also visually appealing and draw compliments from other hikers. I am overly pleased with my new Trailquests and look forward to the many hikes that await. You will not regret purchasing these!

[ I bought these before a trip to hike Joshua Tree and was impressed with all the reviews indicating they were super comfortable and didn ’ t have to be broken in. So I bought them and have zero regrets! I wore them with a pair of Smartwool socks and had them on more than half the day and didn ’ t have one second of discomfort. I ’ ve recommended these to everyone but remember they ’ re not waterproof.

The only thing that needs improvement is the laces do n't hold that well as they are tied from the toe up, they slide on the material of the boot. I give the laces a lot of tension as I lace up from the toe to the tie. Otherwise a great boot.
