The darker lens aren ’ t as dark as my typical sunglasses, but this results in being able to wear them when overcast. In very high sun they still worked well for me, however I wear a baseball cap when I golf. The sunglasses are also good for casual wear off of the course.

[ Let me start by saying that these were my favorite sunglasses in the 90s, and when I had LASIK surgery I was very stoked to find out that Oakley had reissued them. The Good: They seem to be even sturdier than the originals. The new Prism lenses are very clear and sharp. The overall profile of the sunglasses is similar to the original Frogskins. Oakley offers replacement lenses for these sunglasses. The Bad: They are not exactly the same in either shape or in size as the originals. The reissues are bigger both horizontally and vertically. This is why Oakley now offers what they call `` Asian Profile '' Frogskins. The `` Asian Profile '' is actually much closer to the original size of Frogskins from the 90s. On the whole, they seem to be very solidly built and the style is close enough to the original that I am satisfied with the fit. They are very expensive, but the build quality is quite high, and when you factor in the replacement leses that are offered, I feel they are worth the money.

I first bought the Oakley square wire polarized and it did not cover the sides and didn ’ t provide enough light protection. I exchanged for the regular polarized fuel cell which blocked side light, but the lenses were still not dark enough. I then exchanged for the Oakley fuel cell deep water prizm, which is also polarized even though it is not documented as such on the website, and they are great. I suggest you look at the Oakley website where they document the light blocking percentages by lens.

I have always loved Oakley sunglasses based on 1/ USA product, 2/ Materials, 3/ Style, 4/ Quality, 5/ Fit, and etc. I did try out 2 best pairs of Maui Jim sunglasses before settling for this awesome pair. I am going to learn from past experience... not to leave sunglasses in the car year after year. That's how my previous Oakley sunglasses were ruined by weather elements. [ Regular holbrooks are a bit small for my large head but the XL's fit perfect, and the shallow water lens is great- really adds a lot of contrast and brightens up days with drab, flat lighting. Not so much a fan of the fake woodgrain but it does add a bit of texture so they do seem to stay put better than the standard gloss.
