Rod holder can be pulled out of base without too much effort, but it is secured and isn ’ t going got come out on its own without being pulled out.

I have 4 of these and no longer use tip- ups. I use Zebco Dock Demon rods with Abu Garcia spinning reels. Rods are fiberglass and available at Wallyworld for 10 bucks. Graphite rods do n't hold up as well as fiberglass rods.
