[ I have had several pairs of these and will keep buying them as long as they are available. I use them for everything from hiking and fishing to farm work, roofing and all types of construction. I even have a pair I wear for casual outings. I like these a lot: They have a nice wide/not too wide footprint. They have good ankle support. They have great traction. They are very comfortable. The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. But they are perfect for wet, slippery, or dry trail conditions and casual wear. To me, the picture makes them look like they have green trim: They are shades of grey, not green-- I was pleasantly surprised by that, and I think they are a good- looking pair of shoes.

Got these in low top. These are great! Coming off a pair of Moab 2 lows for hiking I feel these are a definite upgrade in looks and comfort. I think Merrell hit the nail on the head with the styling, I actually am tempted just to wear these as a daily without hiking in them, I do n't want to get them dirty! They look fantastic with jeans. Also note that these leather ones are more comfortable than the Speed 2 Goretex version... I tried on that pair and the cut outs for the ankle were higher and rubbed my ankle. There is no rubbing on these, however they are slightly heavier than the Speed 2 goretex. I imagine because this uses leather.

I ’ m a size 12 through and through, but these in the same size were tight. The toe box is smaller than normal. Also you need to take into account feet swelling and perhaps thicker socks. I wore these for the first time all day hiking around Grand Cyn Village. I was surprised there was no uncomfortable rubbing or stiffness which is very common with new hiking shoes. I was very impressed!

[ These are the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever worn. They are durable and keep your feet dry. The traction is amazing as you can walk in the rain and not lose traction as well as walk on rocks and still keep traction. The fit is accurate as well. I am a 7- 7. 5 and ordered a 7. 5 and it fits great especially with thicker socks.

Bought a pair of these in 2001 and they were ready to be sent back to Danner for new soles. Come to find out my wife and mother in law sold that pair in a yard sale..:( Waited things out and they came on sale at Dick's for just under$ 285. Pulled the trigger for another pair of 8 EE's and just could not be more pleased. This time, bought the new Danner DXT Comfort Insoles( direct for Danner), and they made the best hiking boot, even better. Yeah, They are a lot of money, but they are well worth every penny. With the Mountain light IIs, 1/2 size down is the right fit for me with the EE wide fit. And, Dick's had the boots at our front door in two days!!!

Mine are worn volunteering at the Detroit Zoo. I get between 4- 6 miles a shift. First day was rough, added an orthotic( wear orthotics with all my shoes) and no more issues! My feet feel good, my ankles are supported. Yay!

I 've been trying to find good 'intermediate' boots for snowshoeing for over a year. I bought several pairs and returned them all. These are exactly what I was looking for. They are waterproof, warm, and have stiff enough uppers for cinching down snowshoe bindings. They also have great tread and decent edging ability on hard, steep snow when not using snowshoes. They 're much lighter and less expensive than technical mountaineering boots, which were the only other good option I could find.

It's a little more `` dressed up '' but also versatile for every day and walking trails. These shoes are so comfortable. Doesn ’ t really need break in time. Most leather requires some time( a few days) to get soften. These felt like running shoes, yet offering ankle support. Beware though. They are waterproof and not as breathable as running shoes. So it ’s a little too warm. The soles are soft too. Luckily the Vibram offers more traction and durability than standard running shoes. However, it ’s squeaky on tile floors when wet. Good purchase.
