The Switchback Expert has better frame geometry compared to a Trek Marlin. Up grading the heavy coil spring fork is not a problem with the tapered head tube to a light weight air spring fork will shave 5 lbs. off the bike. The rear wheel hub is a 141mm qr. is a limiting factor. No through axel. You can up grade to a 11 speed on the stock rear wheel. a new rear wheel with a Shimano wh- mt500 hub with microsline free wheel will get you 12 speed. The bike is light and fast and fun to ride. Had a few issues getting the bike from Dick ’s. I made the trip 3 TIMES, the first time I was emailed that it was Ready, get there and they said it still needed to be assembled. I come back later when they said it was good. I Get there and they tell me they had an issue with the assembly process and configuring the cassette to shift smoothly. End up going home for the night. Came back in the morning and the bike was finally ready. I just took it out on its first ride this morning and I ’ m pretty impressed with the bike, as I ’ m 6ft 1 and 250lb. The bike held up just fine. I would recommend upgrading to an Air Fork assembly though.

[ This bike is incredible! The quality is top tier and it runs so so smoothly. It ’s perfect to use for higher intensity bike rides, like in more uneven landscapes, but also makes easy rides super comfortable and smooth. My only complaint would be that the directions for putting the bike together were quite confusing. The directions were for multiple different styles of bikes and you kind of have to infer how to put it together. Eventually it got done, but it wasn ’ t the clearest of instructions. Overall, 10000% recommend this bike, but especially for those who bike in different terrains.

This bike was better than I expected. While not quite as comparable to my Trek, it still fits the need in a pseudo hybrid/mountain bike fashion. What I like- light weight, front shocks, disk brakes and the seat is surprisingly good for me anyway. What I did n't like- pedals too small, put bigger ones on. No kickstand and the setup by Dicks was n't all that great. Both derailleurs would jump and ended up fine tuning myself. Once set, all works great.

[ Im big on outdoors and love riding bikes on the trails! I was very surprised by this Switchback Comp from Mongoose. Mongoose is a well known name but I never realized they had such a beast like this and had to give it a try. First off packaging was really good and bike was completely protected. Was a really simple assembly and it was fun to do because you really get to see the design and engineering that was put in it. Tectonic T1 aluminum MTB frame really made this what looks like it should have some weight to it really makes it super light and durable. It was definitely made to be used and pushed to the limit and keep on going! It is really nice all the customizable adjustments you can make to get that perfect fit for anyone who is going to use it. The 2 x 7 drivetrain with Shimano derailleur and Microshift shifters made it really smooth to shift when going down and uphills. The Disc brake was absolutely amazing and gave the smoothest braking power whether it be hard or soft, which gives you maximum control when hitting a last second turn. I am by no means a pro or even hardcore mountain biker but I will say this is a really good starter bike for those who are really trying to upgrade their game from a basic 10- speed. I have throughly enjoyed this Switchback Comp from Mongoose and really would recommend it to anyone who is trying to level up their mountain biking skills!

Straight out of the box there is some setup which could definitely be daunting to beginners, but it wasn ’ t too hard and the bike comes with instructions for setup as well as information for getting help setting up your new bike. Once setup, I played around with the shifting and found the derailleur shifted very smoothly through the 9 gears with little problem. This bike also came with flat pedals which was nice because most bikes I have purchased have not included pedals. As an experienced mountain biker I really appreciated all the features and the overall quality of this bike. I think this bike would be perfect for any beginner looking to start their journey into mountain biking. It is very solid aluminum and would be a great learner bike. I am excited for the weather to get better here in the Midwest so I can truly take this bike out on the trails and try it out!

The tires are a bit wider with a hearty tread. It feels secure even though it ’s lightweight and handles like a dream. The height and weight of the frame are perfect and the seat is basic as far as mountain bikes go. I used the trailer for packing in and out of a very remote area in Colorado. The trail was 24 ” wide max. It was canted down hill and very rocky. It was a horse trail. The only failure was the quick release holding the yoke. The securing nut vibrated off and was lost. I used a valve cap to secure it until I could get two nuts to replace the factory nut. I also used lock tight to hold it in place. I suggest a larger diameter rear wheel for more ground clearance. The trailer tracked very well and was really stable. It took a huge beating from the rocks but weathered it well. I also suggest adding rings to connect bungy cords. Connecting to the bottom rail on the trailer resulted in lost cords due to rocks pushing them off. The weight limit is about double what it should be When I had 40lbs in it made bike handling extremely difficult because the front end was light. Very happy with the durability and quality of construction.

I started with a 5 minute ride, did a ton of stretching, now I went 99 days with a workout everyday. I am 56 years old. I completed all of Matt ’s 120, 90, working on 75, lots of 60 minutes rides, lifted weights, walked, all with my peloton app. I can ’ t think all of Peloton for helping me. The information the instructors give is so key to success. I love you all.

I love this bike. I never thought that I would enjoy it so much but it ’s been almost 6 years now and everyday there seems to be something new to discover. I picked up Peloton in the early fall of 2019 and of course it carried me through the pandemic but since then the depth of interesting classes and various workouts have kept me going. I still have my original bike, been doing my best to keep it in good shape and for the most part the flywheel still spins like new, the pedals still hold great and nothing has shaken off:) I ’ ve been through a few pairs of shoes and aside from being stiff when new, I love ’ em. I hope to have my Peloton for many, many more miles and milestones to come. Thanks for making me faster than everyone else still on the couch.- Alan

All the data and analytics really improves you workouts. Instructors are excellent and drive better performance. Was doing it on spin bike but wanted the data so upgraded to Peleton bike. Should have done this the first time.
