As someone with a lot of foot problems, finding shoes that are comfortable, supportive, and that look nice had been a challenge. After trying similar LL Bean and Timberland shoes, I finally got the Moab 3 from Merrell. After 4 years of daily use and frequent outdoors activity including outings with my son's scout troop, the upper started to crack where my foot flexes. The sole and lining was still in good condition with reasonable wear. With a rainy camping trip looming, I got the replacement pair and have been just as happy with the new shoes as I had been with the old ones. These are fantastic shoes that offer great stability, decent protection against water, and great comfort.

I have been buying the breeze boot for about 20 years now. I would agree that the laces need to be a bit longer so you can double tie them. On zappos web site they advertise that the 7742 has gore tex lining and vibram soles, you might want to check on that one. Other than that the boots are really comfortable.

It is fairly stiff( good support) and the rubber is substantial and hard. It is n't super light or the most cushioned shoe. Definitely not for trail running of any kind. There are better shoes for light, fast, and cushiony( see Salomon Speedcross). I wanted these for short hikes on rough terrain or as a simple walkaround shoe or working in the yard. Bought these as soon as they came out for a busy summer. My first adventure was a Grand Canyon Rim- 2- Rim hike in July. 24+ miles in one day. These were fantastic. Perfect in the extreme heat and dried relatively quickly after a few stream crossings. I then wore these on a 24 hour( 42 mile) hike through the mountains of north Georgia. Very hot and humid, and again no issues with discomfort or blisters. Even after wading through several streams. I have over 100 miles in these and my feet were not a factor and I never thought about my shoes.

I 've been wearing Lone Peaks for a long time, and the Timp is even a step up from those other early models. Though I 've had surgery on both feet and ca n't wear a lot of other hikers, these are comfortable in all aspects. Lightweight, not too hot, good toe room, great look, quick to dry. They seem sturdy so far. Two small complaints- wish the tongue was gusseted to keep debris out, and would like a swatch of heel velcro for gaiters. But those are minor issues. I will be buying a second pair to keep on the shelf until next year or whenever these wear out. Highly recommend.

This hiking shoe is so smooth. The weight of the shoe is so light which is exactly what I need with ankle issues. I went half a step up because I wear ankle braces that fit comfortably inside the shoe. I usually wear an 11 in Altra but got 11. 5 to accommodate the ankle supports. The high top hides most of my ankle support which is nice. I highly recommend this shoe for those that are challenged physically by their feet with some mobility issues. For me it means I can enjoy more pain- fee hikes and walks around the city/country.

I have been hiking in Lone Peaks, buy they were not providing the cushion that I needed. I tried the Olympus, but they run small and ended up losing the skin and nail off one of my toes. I recently completed a 300 mile section hike of the AT and also did about 50 trail miles in the shoes to prep. I went across a lot of rock surfaces in NJ, NY, CT, and MA. I recently trekked EBC in a pair of them and would like to share my thoughts. First impressions: Light weight. Easy to put on and take off. The Footshape is there. The outsole worked well- I only slipped a few times on extremely loose dirt while descending, but never fell. The infamous ankle rubbing from the stitching is also there, but only when I was trying on with thin socks, so thick pairs of socks are highly recommended. Aesthetic wise, like many here mentioned, the leather parts are black, but the fabric parts are reflective that they appear a bit brownish grey and some parts in dark navy in certain lighting condition. Overall, they worked well and got me through the trek just fine.

I really like these boots. Super light weight. Felt good straight out of thr box. This would be my 6th pair of Merrill. I wear them as my everyday shoe for work and whatever. These are the best pair of Merrill's I 've owned so far.

I 'm a full- time firearms instructor and I 'm a big guy. These boots are very supportive, but i added my own custom orthotic inserts, making them amazingly supportive. first hike rubber tip on one toe of one shoe starting to peel back. I do n't recall catching my toe on something. I have the altra gators and( not just this shoe but others) the laces do n't go far enough towards to toes so you ca n't use the lace hook on the gator. I push the gator fabric through some laces as a workaround. Other than these 2 minor things I love them

[ When you want to wear lowtops instead of your boots you will be AMAZED at the sturdiness and comfort these shoes provide. If you like your Danner boots you will love this shoe. [ Im not new to the Danner brand and this is one of thr better fitting examples they have produced. I especially enjoy the the amount of room in the toebox area. A lot of Danner boots/shoes in Regular Width, have become to narrow and the wide width, is simply to wide for me. Typical Danner quality here with just a day of Air travel and walking through airports to get a good break in. They are a stable low top with very little side to side rolling. I am a sz 11 and there is just a little bit of heal slip if I dont tighten the laces up tightly. Good looking shoe too, as I had several compliments in Charlotte and Ohare airports

My husband is very picky about shoes, he says “ nothing gets a 5 ” when it comes to shoes so his rating of a 4 on these shoes is fantastic. These shoes look rugged and sturdy. He walks our dog in cold weather/snow and reports that his feet stay warm and the shoes are comfortable. We are happy with this purchase!

[ I bought these for just around town since they looked so good. But when I got them I realized that they are actually serious hiking shoes- very sturdy, supportive and a bit heavy. I have only wore them a few times, so they feel like they need to break in a bit since they are so sturdy, but even so they felt good. [ When you find a pair that fits you as if it was made for you. You stick with them. Usually, brands tweak things over the years so when you need a new paired, you ’ re screwed! These are a classic. The first pair I bought myself in 2014, side by side with their replacement that just arrived today. Pulled them out of the box and it was like meeting an old friend that hasn ’ t changed a bit. The fit and feel, perfection. Now, I literally hiked the soles off of the old pair. The toes cracked. Laces frayed but original. Should I have replaced them awhile ago- I did with the charcoal version. But kept these in my closet as a remembrance of my first pair of hikers that took me through the PCT AT. They wear well, almost zero break in, and the scars just as character. Thanks Asolo for a great boot and for keeping a classic, an unchanged classic.
