Would recommend if you want some dedicated throwing knives you can use that aren ’ t shaped like a teardrop. I gave 5 stars but would give 4. 5 if I could. Only because I am being a picky baby on this one. It would be cool if there was a guide on re- wrapping the handle as the cord does come loose after a few throws. Not such a big deal as you can still throw fine without the cord.

I went for a walk this morning on our local rail trail and came upon a tree that had fallen the night before and completely blocked the path. I was bored and started to break the smaller branches to get them out of the way. The only cutting tool I had on me was my little SOG Instinct that I bought a few weeks ago, so I started carving away at the larger limbs so they were easier to break. I got down to a 7 inch limb and spent about 45 minutes carving, hacking, and swearing at it. That little SOG knife was a beast. I got to the point where I was using a rock on the butt to drive it deeper into the limb because after 2 hours, I was tired. The rock broke, but the knife kept going. I finally got 2/3 of the trail cleared for hikers and bikers, but it would not have been possible without the SOG Instinct. For$ 35 at Bass Pro, it has become one of the best knives I 've ever had. I 'm a SOG guy now! As soon as I can cobble together some more money, I 'm getting another SOG.

I got this knife as a 16th birthday present in 2010 from Dick's in Fairfax, Va. This is the fixed blade I learned to sharpen with, cleaned everything from catfish to turkey with. I have also used it while doing food prep as well. It is pretty easy to sharpen up and holds an edge well enough. It is sturdy and shows its wear but I will be able to pass it down through my family eventually. I like the sheath, it just rides a little high on the belt. The sheath drains well if you 're out in wet conditions. It is not a great bushcraft knife, but a good all rounder. Overall I would recommend this knife to anybody looking for a good classic knife that wo n't hurt your wallet too bad.

Bought this for my wife and she loves it. We own several SOGs and have never been disappointed. Only ever had one issue when the SOG logo plate fell out of the handle of one of them. Their customer service was excellent and sent out a new plate that I glued in. The ONLY thing that keeps the Flash AT from getting a 5 star rating in my book is that the thumb post for opening it could be slightly bigger. It ’s a little tough to get a good purchase on with my bigger thumbs and the rather sharp point actually hurts a bit when you push on it. Otherwise great daily utility knife.

I have been using this knife for 15 years now.( I purchased in 2008) I have gut multiple deer of my own and friends over the years. Good cheap knife! I think I 've had it for over five years now And thinking about buying a second. Comfortable to use, it's my daily knife. It's big enough to cut most vegetable and meats but small enough to make more precision cuts. I see a lot of people saying it dulls quick, mine is still pretty sharp. But even then, I like to keep mine kind of dull anyways. I use it to recover bones and teeth from roadkill, for jewelry. So having a small, somewhat blunt knife is great for hacking at bones and prying teeth, without having to worry about it chipping or snapping. I try very hard to get the sage green color. But with a bit of patience, I was rewarded!! Easy and safe to use with thick gloves or even mittens( yes it is cold up here in winter!!) Blade lenght is just perfect for bushcraft and even survival. I do n't need or want to use a big crocodile bundee size knife anyway! The only down side, its the sheath itself! I had to cut the nylon sheath to get the plastic insert to fix it into a molle tactical sheath( like the emerson molle knife sheath).

Years ago when I was younger and less in the funds, carried a trident as my edc because it was well priced, comfortable, and durable. I recently came across this relatively new version and decided to give it a go for Nostalgia ’s sake. Man is this thing cool. It ’s super solid without feeling too heavy, it ’s comfortable in the hand, and really just an all- around fun fidget knife. The AT action is crisp and powerful. My only gripe that ’s not really a gripe is that the new closed locking mechanism will take some getting used to in its place on the top of the knife as opposed to in the handle. I ’ ve yet to put this one through the ringer, but it feels even more solid than the previous iterations, and I used to beat the hell out of those things.

Turns out the bears enjoy when we cook outdoors, too. The set is really well- made, with nice heavy heaviness to them, sharp blades. The meat fork thing could be a bit longer in my opinon, but the tongs are nice and will keep your hands out of the fire. After a YouTube video and reading instructions I was on to sharpening two of my pocket knives with ease. Will need to practice more for sure, but I was able to get a super sharp edge at least at some parts of the knife. This is a solid and well- crafted knife, comparable in quality to knives costing many times more. As a former Army medic I can appreciate the rescue features as well. The blade is razor sharp and I have n't yet had the need to sharpen. It took a little practice but I can now easily and smoothly open with one hand, left or right. I am so impressed with this knife I just ordered the 2. 0 version to keep in one of my cars. Only caveat, I 've seen some demos showing how the safety belt cutter is n't very effective. That may, in fact, be true, but the serrated edge of the razor- sharp blade is more than up to the task. This is only a good knife for crossing border into Canada which I do a lot of and where many knives are banned and where no knife can be carried for the primary intent of self- defense. The rescue and safety features of this knife help legitimize it.
