Wow. These are awesome. I ran my last half marathon in the Pegasus trail, and I was less than impressed. I went to the Wildhorse but felt those needed more cushioning. When I started doing road races in the vaporfly, I was really hoping that Nike would do some sort of vaporfly hybrid shoe for trails and I feel like this is it! I took it right out of the box on a 7 mile adventure, with about 2k feet of vert in the first 2 miles and then a downhill 3 mile run on a fire road, before hitting 2 miles on pavement. They performed superb. They are ultralite( 6. 5oz in my size) and have a super wide toebox, which is unlike most Nike products. This means that you ’ re not gon na get any pressure on your toenails and they ’ re not hitting up against the front of the shoe. They ’ re super breathable and the carbon fiber plate definitely gives you a little propel forward. I ’ m so excited that Nike finally got a contract with Vibram because the soles are incredibly grippy. I don ’ t know how this shoe would do on super technical terrain, considering it is a race shoe, so it ’s meant to be fast and agile. But I don ’ t know if it would protect you from kicking a rock or hitting a rock with anything near your ankle. You ’ re definitely gon na feel that. I ’ m all in for taking this on my next race and super excited to see how I perform in this shoe. I love that there ’s no break in time with Nike ever and I ’ m really happy to see that they have stepped it up with their trail running shoes. We needed this!

What a beautiful shoe! I was very excited to give this one a opportunity as ince i needed a shoe for runnable trails along with dirt/gravel paths. Sizing for me was absolutely perfect, I ordered 10. 5 as always and hold and toe box spacing is excellent. I will have to play around with lacing tightness to figure out that best heel hold but that's the case with most shoes imo. The midsole is incredible and I 'm sure it will take on the abuse well, the bounce and propulsion is entirely new for me, I have never experienced something like this before. It would be a waste to use this for easy/slow runs since the rocker and midsole are clearly for running at faster paces.

These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. When running, you 'll feel them propel you forward for the next step. I 'm also a bit of wide footer and these have plenty of room in the forefoot/toe area for me. Great shoes! My only complaint was a small part of the toe cap started to peel up after a few months of wearing them, but I was able to carefully super glue it back into place.

After many unsatisfying purchases and many returns, I have found the exact shoe I have been looking for, for use in long distance walking. It is very difficult to find a shoe that has lots of cushion* and* a more minimalist arch support( I have found that Hoka and even Altra just have too much arch support, which is uncomfortable if you have a flatter foot and/or do n't want or need arch support). The only thing I did n't like was the un- cushioned tongue, which was pressing a bit too much into my front ankle tendons. I solved this problem by using scissors to cut a small slit in each tongue to relieve that pressure( see photo). Now they are perfect! I will be buying these again.

I sincerely hope that Vasque does n't discontinue the Breeze LT GTX. I 've had a pair of clunkier Vasque's and a pair of Merrell's and these outperform both hands down. I 've worn these in the winter with a thicker pair of socks and in the summer with a thinner pair of socks over the last year of having them and they hold up great in both( although not designed as a winter/snow boot). Hiking summers in Boise desert heat is hard, and these have not once given me a blister, been uncomfortable, or made me question my footing. Everything about them is phenomenal! [ I 've only done about 20 miles in these boots so far, but am VERY happy with them! I read reviews all over the place and decided to follow the advice of ordering a half size up, I will always have to wear a thick sock with them but feel it was still the right way to go. After reading the reviews I was a little concerned about the `` strange arch support '' mentioned by many. I was worried it was going to be similar to Chacos, which I cant wear because of the large arch support, however it's not like that at all and gives more support under your heal( not sure how to best explain this(:) and I find it very comfortable. These seemed pretty stiff at first but after one 5 mile hike they loosened up and feel very similar to a tennis shoe. I do have to mention that the heal box is oddly large, this does n't seem to be an issue for me, but thought I would mention it incase it would be helpful to someone else. All in all I would say if your on the fence about these you should just go for it!

I have been hiking in Lone Peaks, buy they were not providing the cushion that I needed. I tried the Olympus, but they run small and ended up losing the skin and nail off one of my toes. I recently completed a 300 mile section hike of the AT and also did about 50 trail miles in the shoes to prep. I went across a lot of rock surfaces in NJ, NY, CT, and MA. These shoes served me well and I am glad that they are available, especially in the size( 14) that I need. Thank you Altra for making this product and having the GoreTex version available.

I recently trekked EBC in a pair of them and would like to share my thoughts. First impressions: Light weight. Easy to put on and take off. The Footshape is there. The outsole worked well- I only slipped a few times on extremely loose dirt while descending, but never fell. The infamous ankle rubbing from the stitching is also there, but only when I was trying on with thin socks, so thick pairs of socks are highly recommended. Aesthetic wise, like many here mentioned, the leather parts are black, but the fabric parts are reflective that they appear a bit brownish grey and some parts in dark navy in certain lighting condition. Overall, they worked well and got me through the trek just fine.

I hate boots so rigid that you do n't really feel the surface.. these are not like that. They are just a touch more then a simple trail shoe which is perfect. Bought these as soon as they came out for a busy summer. My first adventure was a Grand Canyon Rim- 2- Rim hike in July. 24+ miles in one day. These were fantastic. Perfect in the extreme heat and dried relatively quickly after a few stream crossings. I then wore these on a 24 hour( 42 mile) hike through the mountains of north Georgia. Very hot and humid, and again no issues with discomfort or blisters. Even after wading through several streams. I have over 100 miles in these and my feet were not a factor and I never thought about my shoes.

I 've been wearing Lone Peaks for a long time, and the Timp is even a step up from those other early models. Though I 've had surgery on both feet and ca n't wear a lot of other hikers, these are comfortable in all aspects. Lightweight, not too hot, good toe room, great look, quick to dry. They seem sturdy so far. Two small complaints- wish the tongue was gusseted to keep debris out, and would like a swatch of heel velcro for gaiters. But those are minor issues. I will be buying a second pair to keep on the shelf until next year or whenever these wear out. Highly recommend.

This hiking shoe is so smooth. The weight of the shoe is so light which is exactly what I need with ankle issues. I went half a step up because I wear ankle braces that fit comfortably inside the shoe. I usually wear an 11 in Altra but got 11. 5 to accommodate the ankle supports. The high top hides most of my ankle support which is nice. I highly recommend this shoe for those that are challenged physically by their feet with some mobility issues. For me it means I can enjoy more pain- fee hikes and walks around the city/country.

Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3- 4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3 day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised. Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear. Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

I have been running for 56 years. I have seen the development of all shoes from all brands. For me, the Timp 5 is one of the best shoes I have ever used. It just feels like running. It feels like hitting the trails. I know other runners have had issues with the Timp series, but for me, this is just an excellent shoe.

Alphafly 2 has been my only running shoe, so I ’ m sorry to see it appears to be on the way out. I hope the 3 is just as good. I love the booty fit without the need to deal with a loose tongue. Grab the loops at the top and back to slip on more easily. The laces did dig into the top of my feet, but problem solved with a Lydiard- style lacing( see photo).

I love Merrell Moab ’s, wear them every day and have 5 pair. But as hot as this summer has been, I wanted a pair of lighter weight shoes. I started with Merrell styles, but had no luck getting a good fit for my problem feet—a neuroma and plantar fasciitis on one foot and a bunion on the other. I also tried styles from all the highly rated shoes for walking, including those with gel insoles. They all bothered my neuroma, and the gels were so bouncy they made me feel a little unsteady on my feet. So I went back to Merrell and tried the speed solo, ordered up a half size, and finally found my fit! The shoes seemed narrow at first, but after wearing them a couple of times, they ’ re as comfortable as my Moab ’s.

I love these hiking shoes! I took them hiking in the PNW, and they were very supportive and still held up really well on very rocky trails. They especially felt very good descending on hikes, they did not hurt your toes like a lot of other shoes/boots do. I ordered a half size up, but they are pretty true to size. These are by far the best shoes I ’ ve run in given I ’ m a forefoot striker. If you are a forefoot strike, you need to at least try these. I ’ m using them as trainers and racers. I ’ m 6ft 200lbs, I ’ ve run sub 3H marathons.

Returned to running after a 40 year break. Six months in I decided to run a marathon on five days notice. I got these because they are supposed to reduce fatigue and make recovery faster. I ran sub- 4 at age 57 with six months of training and a five day taper. The next day I had no problems running six miles. I usually run on Brooks, still do, but the first time I tried Alpha fly3 on the treadmill in Paragon, I knew they were going home with me. I bought my 2nd pair in 3 weeks! I love it not because it makes me run faster( cuts off 20- 45 seconds/mile) but it really hugs your feet well. No break in period. Truly fits like lotion. I 'm thinking of 3rd pair! I just want to say, I see a lot of people say size down because once the fur goes down they get a bit big. I ’ m writing to say I ’ ve owned 8 pair of ugh fur lined boots and always get my true to size.
