Looking for a way to stay active and enjoy nature at the same time? Hiking is definitely worth considering. However, it is important to safeguard your hands while hitting the trails. The constant use of your hands and their exposure to rough surfaces can cause cuts and scrapes. To avoid any discomfort, be sure to equip yourself with top-quality hiking gloves.

[ I bought these gloves at the height of winter and I have not looked back. They are extremely warm and keep your hands dry in every condition. They especially shined when it came to winter sports because any contact with the snow would previously give me wet, cold hands. There is no such thing with these with the combination of GoreTex and with the cuffs going up so high on my arm and being adjustable, wet hands and arms are a thing of the past. There are a number of handy features as well with finger holds on the outside of ring fingers make the gloves easy to remove even while gloved. The retention cuffs do their job well. I would recommend these for someone looking for a nice pair of gloves that wants to keep their hands warm and dry. They outperform everything else at their price point.

’ m a ski patroller and avalanche instructor in the Rockies and I need my gear to be durable and allow me to do my job appropriately by keeping me warm and mobile. Pros The elastic leash is comfortable and low- profile and allows easy removal of gloves without dropping them in the snow. The leather is durable and stands up to skiing abuse The gloves are remarkably warm- usually I change over to mittens earlier than most, but these gloves are great due to the insulation and fusing The powder skirt is quite large and cinch- able which makes it amazing at keeping any snow from getting into the gloves, even when messing around in an avalanche pit. Cons The gloves fit a bit small even after ordering by the size guide- this can easily be mitigated by ordering up a size

The mittens performed well above what I had expected. they are 100% wind proof and never let any moisture in. The most extreme weather I used them in was snowshoeing in- 25- 28 °F with a good 10- 15 mph wind. The mittens were so warm that at times I had to remove them so my hands could cool off. The recommended sizing for me was a M. I went up a size and they were snug, but very comfortable. The quality of these gloves are outstanding. I 've already recommended them to a few friends and family.

I have been using the OR Mount Baker mitts for the past decade and decided to get these for the really cold days. My hands are always cold but these could be too warm for many days. They are similar to the Mount Baker mitts but the shell is insulated allowing a thinner liner on warmer days without freezing. You do lose a bit of dexterity but these are crazy warm. OR gloves tend to run a bit small and these are no exception.

My wife got a pair of these after I had some for a while. Surprisingly warm glove considering the weight, and if you 're using them for running or hiking in the winter, I 've found them to keep me comfortable to around 5°F. Only thing to keep in mind is that they are n't waterproof so on warmer snowy days they can end up getting wet.

They are taking care of my hands for driving, walking, and recreating in the cold weather. I can throw them in my bag and count on them when I am headed to my kid's soccer games. These gloves keep your hand dried very well. I have n't used under several weather yet, so I am not sure about waterproof from rain& snow yet. I used these at 10~15 degrees C, and my hands held some sweat. These gloves alone would be good between- 10~10 degree C. You would need extra thermal gears under- 10C. I felt the size runs a little large as I break in. You could do half size down if you want tight fits.

I was invited to write this review for a chance to win a cool hundo. But I have absolutely no problem saying these gloves are the warmest I ’ ve ever put on. Like hot boxes! Pretty sure they are appropriate for the coldest weather New England has to offer. If youre going subzero, arctic, whose to say? But you ’ ll be fine skiing the east. I ’ ve heard that black diamond quality has taken a nose dive, but these gloves seem solidly constructed with double or triple stitching along leather seams. They are still too new to tell how they will hold up to abuse. Hoping for the best.

Absolutely love these gloves for mahy reasons. Firstly, the glove has an amazing fit. While it is easy to get on with the straps to help it is a snug fit that allows me to manouever very well with them. Additionally, the gloves are not so big and padded that I ca n't do much with my hands, however, they still keep my hands warm. My only complaint would be that it is really difficult to use my phone despite the fingertip specifically meant for using the phone. Would highly recommend these gloves.

These gloves are a pair of the best gloves I 've worn, and I 've gone through a lot of gloves over the years. What stood out to me are two things; warmth and dryness. While hiking or training with search and rescue( volunteer) I often have my gloves on and off for tasks as well as taking pictures during hikes, what strikes me with these is that they feel dry and warm every time I put them back on after the task or picture!

I like this glove for winter hiking, snowshoeing, and even XC ski in cold weather... basically anything with active athletic energy level. Not warm enough for standing around ice- fishing in New England. They are very durable and well- made. Quite warm for how light they are, due to the combo of soft lining, leather palm, and waterproof synthetic shell. Lighter than a true ski glove, but more solid and weatherproof than a jogging glove. Nice middle ground.

The gloves are warm and comfortable thus far, although they ’ ve not been put through any extreme days yet. Over the cuff three finger gloves are a rarity, so I ’ m glad to see more of them, as that ’s my preferred style. These get bonus points for having a “ nose wipe ”, as that ’s something I ’ ve found myself really missing on gloves that don ’ t have them. My only complaint is that the gloves seem to run very large compared to the size charts( of which there are multiple, depending on where you look, and they conflict with each other). I bought a size small pair for my sister as a Christmas gift, and they are large enough that I could wear them with only very slight discomfort, despite the fact that I generally wear a size 9( or Men ’s Large) glove. If you can try them on in person or can exchange them for a different size, I ’ d have no issues recommending them. If you ’ re ordering online and won ’ t be able to exchange them, either because of vendor policies or time constraints, I ’ d consider other options if you have them.

These gloves are almost perfect. Great grip and dexterity, plus just enough insulation on the back of the hand to take the chill off while, hiking, walking the dog, or working in cool weather. I bought these for biathlon as well as warmer weather ice climbing. So far I 've only used them for biathlon. Loading ammunition, swapping magazines and trigger feel are all excellent with these gloves. I 've practiced in these gloves at- 9 C and they are just warm enough. I plan on racing in these down to- 10. I have no doubt they 'll feel great once I get on the ice. A very slight con, and it could just be the shape of my hand, is that while all the fingers fit perfect I do have some extra material at the end of my thumbs.

The gloves do a great job lightly insulating, they are n't waterproof but still do a decent job keeping your hands dry. I 've hiked with them, they make good driving mitts too. They are pretty windproof too which makes them the most useful in colder windy weather. My only complaint is if you 're wearing a watch or some other form of wrist accessory, the wrist parts of the glove do n't do a great job accommodating for that. Other than that, great mitts.

These mittens are like a warm hug for your hands—cozy, flexible, and surprisingly roomy without feeling like you 're wearing oven mitts. The eternal struggle with snow mittens? The super- warm ones are made for snowboarders who just need to high- five gravity, while skiers, who actually have to hold onto things, are left out in the cold. But fear not! Haven ’ t had a chance to wear them on the mountain yet, but they are extremely thick which hopefully translates to warmth. My hands tend to be very cold, in fact my whole body probably runs colder than most, so I usually dress 10 degrees warmer than everyone else. Bought them for use with an ice axe. Dexterity was a decent for how thick the fingers are. Not planning on losing one of those! Very well made piece of clothing. Can ’ t wait to try them out.

I still love these gloves and will continue to use them. HOWEVER, I did gain some more experience with them. Doing astrophotography in Arches in 21 degree weather taught me that I 'll need to add another layer and use hand warmers with these. They were fine while the blood was pumping, but when it came to waiting around, my fingers got numb. They would be perfectly fine for anything above 32 degrees. The pull tabs and large openings made it easy to get my hands in and out quickly. Adjusts at the wrist and opening for a tighter fit.

samIam
[ The fit is a bit small, depending on what you plan on doing with them. I bought these in a women's small. I have small hands; my palm circumference is an even 7 '' and the length of my hand is just less than 7 ''. I 've never previously found a women's small to be at all tight, in fact, sometimes I have to order extra smalls, but these gloves are just a tad bit on the small side. They fit perfectly when my hand is curled, as if you 're holding onto your ski poles or something else, but when I try to stretch my hand as open as possible, it feels just a bit tight in the length. So if you plan on standing around with your hand opened wide and pressed down flat, you should size up. The other issue is the gauntlet sleeve is a little tight/small in circumference-- it's just a bit hard to pull on over a parka sleeve, especiallly if one glove is already on. Also, if you want really fine dexterity, these are too thick for that. I found that while the touchscreen fingers do work fine on my phone and tablet, the difficulty comes in in accuracy, due to the thickness of the gloves. I also found it a little difficult to use a sensitive two button mouse without accidental clicks. However, those things aside, the gloves are very comfy/cozy. The inside lining is soft and I have n't yet noticed sweaty palms. They kept me warm and dry working outside in cold and rainy weather, which is what I bought them for. I would have preferred if the palms had been reinforced with another layer of leather, but so far they seem to be holding up to chopping and stacking wood and other miscellaneous odd jobs around a cabin in the woods when it's cold and rainy. I would imagine these would be good for snowsports as well as winter motorcycling, but again, if you 're looking for really fine touchscreen dexterity, I 'd find a thinner glove that maybe is n't as warm/thick.

Sometimes you want a lighter, thinner glove that makes it easier to manipulate things in your pack, pull skins, dig pits, etc. Other days you want a glove that keeps you warm and dry when it ’s dumping and windy on the chairlift. These are those gloves. The inner liner can be pulled out to dry faster, and the long gauntlet shell keeps rain and snow where it ’s supposed to be. I supplemented the included Nikwax for better coverage and seam sealing. So far these are my favorite in- bounds gloves in years, better than the Hestras and Kincos I have used in the past.

These gloves were used on an expedition cruise to Antarctica where I did zodiac rides and hiking. They kept my hands warm in sub- freezing temps, no issue! They are bulky so you loose some dexterity, but that ’s just how it ’s going to be with these gloves. It was nice to be able to remove the GorTex outer and use the inner glove on more temperate days. Would recommend to anyone who needs a solid cold weather glove.

I got several pair of these gloves for snowboarding/skiing. They are very warm with they liners. We have only used them on days were the temps were in the 20's and we did n't need the liners. They are dry and I love the features such as the tethers and cuff cinch. They are bulky with the liners and tend to run a bit large. My 16 year old son wears the small and I can fit the medium. Overall they are a fantastic glove at a very good price.

Love these gloves! Quality build, warm and comfortable. As someone with a large amount of abduction with my thumb, I often find that I quickly wear gloves out between the index finger and thumb. These seem to accommodate the majority of my thumb's range of motion and are reinforced where I typically end up tearing gloves. I am hopeful that these will last me a decade or more.

I normally wear size XL to XXL in most glove brands. I hesitated when sizing these per the size chart as it had me at a size L. I ordered per the chart and they fit perfectly. Got these to move away from mitts for alpine ascents. I love warm mitts, but there is obviously no dexterity and these solved that problem. I have owned these mittens through two seasons now. Through that time they have held up very well through trees, being dragged on the ground, and carrying around sharp edges of a snowboard. I waited on making a review to see how they held up over time after being completely soaked and dried numerous times, and evaluate the wear on the palm. Both have impressed, but not as much as their warming capability. The thing that will separate these from other mittens is their ability to warm while wet. They are not as waterproof as some other gloves as this price point, but they are the warmest mittens I have ever used and they retain that warming ability even when the inside is saturated. My suggestion would be an alternative to velcro for the wrist cuff as snow gets caught on it very easily, making it difficult to use( draw string?). These gloves have been used between temps of 15- 45 degrees F on the west and east coast in clear and stormy conditions. Picture displays palm wear after 1. 5 seasons of heavy use.
5
Jarrett F
These mitts kept my hands warm even on cold days! I did go out on a wet and warm day but it did n't seem to wet out on me on those days. If the mittens were exposed to water for a long duration of time then it may have soaked through. Overall great mittens and I would get them again!

I love these gloves. And they are liners, technically, but at the right temperature they serve well enough on their own. I have tested them on a morning walk when it was closer to 30⁰, and I have to say perhaps—and for someone who tends to run hotter, generally—that I think these gloves are suited best on their own out the door when it's at least in the upper 30s outside. If you 've been walking for a while and your body's warmed up they 'll serve you better, of course. Otherwise, using them on my phone is almost just like not wearing gloves, which has been great! And they look good, and provide warmth while being easy to stow away anywhere, they 're not bulky. Thanks BD!
5
Jim G.
These gloves are warm, surprisingly wind proof and really do have better connectivity for touch screens than any other gloves I 've had.
5
Aleksey Z.
Living in New York comes with cold winters, and these gloves are perfect for everyday use. They work great with a touchscreen and fit really well, offering a decent amount of warmth. Around 10 degrees Fahrenheit they do feel a bit chilly but anything above that temperature they feel warm enough. The only downside is not being very grippy on a steering wheel, so driving in them is not amazing. The value for money, functionality, warmth, and design combined make for a solid pair of gloves.
5
TAYLOR D.
Got these gloves because I wanted something that I could wear to cover my hands in the winter when I 'm either walking or doing light activities but do n't necessarily need a bulky winter glove. I live in Colorado so temperatures vary dramatically in the winter and my hands run on the cold side, but I 'd say these are perfect for brief outdoor exposure near 0 °F and ideal for long durations in temperatures around 15- 20°F. The screen tap material works amazingly well with my phone, it's as if I 'm not even wearing a glove. I normally wear between a S and M for gloves, because I did n't want any loose fingers I sized down to a S. It's slightly tight but still fits great and after breaking in just a bit they... fit like a glove( could n't resist). Getting the wrist part of the glove over my hand is a bit tight and does n't flex as much as you might expect but still easy enough to get on and fits perfectly once on.
5
Rachael F.
I 've had a pair for a few years and sadly lost one of them. So, I reordered this year and they felt like home as soon I put them on. The screen tap works better than any other glove brand I 've worn. They fit snug, but not tight. They are soft on the inside and unless I am working hard and starting to get hot, I do n't even notice I am wearing them. They are perfect for hiking or activities in which I am exerting low- to- moderate energy in cold weather like at or just below freezing( they are too warm for me to run in). I would buy these over and over again, but hopefully I wo n't lose one and need to buy again because my last pair was still in perfect condition after a few years of heavy use! Side note: The old version had a grip piece added in the palm that I miss, but was not essential.

I ’ ve used these a lot for this winter season and I ’ m loving them. Hiking in- 15c and my hands have still been nicely warm without sweating too much. They ’ ve been durable handling brush and digging through snow. They flex well with my hand and don ’ t restrict movement too much- which is great for a glove that can still keep my hands warm in these temperatures while active. I ’ m normally a small in gloves but I had a previous different sure shot glove that was too small so I sized up to a medium and it fits very well with just a little bit of extra room if I wanted to add a liner. As a bonus, the purple colour is super pretty!

The Patrol gloves feel like a toned down version of the Guide gloves that I 've used extensively. The biggest difference is the shorter gauntlet and the insulation only covering the palm, where the insulated inner runs down over the wrist into the gauntlet on the Guides. Because of those differences the mobility is a bit better with the Patrol, they 're a less bulky/more packable and are n't quite as warm as the Guides.

I have the intermediate weight OR sensor gloves used mountaineering in the Alps and really liked them. I was hoping these had allowed for better dexterity and they did. I ’ ve used this for everyday wear, rucking, hunting and some mountaineering in Maine. The coldest I ’ ve worn these were at around 10°F with the windchills around- 2°F. I was active during my wear and had no issues. I find these stay try better than the intermediate OR glove and really think the grid interior keeps my hand dryer and warmer than the intermediate.

I was expecting those gloves to be good, but they absolutely exceeded my expectations. The first time I wore them, I was outside for six hours in steady rain and near- freezing temperatures. My hands were the driest part of me. Not that these are waterproof- they aren't- but the grid fleece on the backs of the hands wicks and breathes so well that my body heat dried the gloves faster than they could get wet. My hands stayed warm and dry, and the fingers were still dextrous enough that I could work outside. Love these and will be buying more, plus anything else made of Vigor Plus fleece that I can get my hands on. Big improvement in fit over the previous year's model as well.

But BONUS I 've also put them to the test at tree climbing this week and they 've done really well! Only gripe is that they 've stretched a little bit, to where the extra space in the fingers gets stuck in carabiners from time to time. Easy to mitigate though, and the leather holds up super well to fire, ash, dirt, sap, ropes, and all:) plus do love that extra loop on the fingers to hang them in a way on my hip that keeps misc dirt from falling in.

Used for military mountaineering a few times, worked well and they fit my hand perfectly. Inside was smooth and very comfortable.

These are my new favorite belay gloves! I take them up on the wall when I 'm doing multipitch climbs and also to the sport crag. They are versatile and generally awesome! I did get some holes in them after some usage, so be aware the durability is an issue, but I really have n't found a glove that's both dextrous and durable. Belay gloves put up with some serious abuse, so I 'm not really sure what's reasonable to expect.

() I 've been looking for the perfect pair of gloves for doing rope rescue training for Search and Rescue for a while now. The Granite gloves seemed a bit tight when I first got them, but within an hour of using them, they seemed to conform to my hands like an extra layer of skin. I have enough dexterity to tie and untie knots while wearing them and they give me plenty of protection when rappelling.

I do love the new gloves. I used the size chart and I feel like the XL was the right size for me. The look and material are of a high quality. They keep me warm in cold conditions skiing. For future builds I wish:- They had a zipper pouch for hand warmer and doubles as a vent. I would recommend these gloves and would purchase again.

My husband will only wear these gloves. He uses them for everything from shoveling the driveway to a weekend of skiing. They are so warm, keep his hands dry, and are comfortable enough to move freely.

Found them on sale and had a gift card so thought I 'd give them a try. I love them! As long as you take care of them by washing them with NixWax and use leather balm they seem like they could last forever!

Recently while at a fitness club my coat was stolen with my Black Diamond gloves in the pockets. No hesitation in ordering a replacement pair. I have Raynauds disease in my hands, these are the only gloves that keep my hands warm. Thank you Black Diamond!

Great well constructed glove. Runs small so I returned for a larger size( XXL) and still tight but I hope will pack out. I usually take an XL in almost every glove.

Nice gloves for the price. Measured hand per size guide and ordered Medium which felt a little snug around palms and around top of hand. Ended up reordering Large after trying the first pair on. Large fits perfect.

I used these this past weekend in West Virginia where the temps were getting warm enough to melt the snow during the day, but dropping at night. These gloves kept my hands warm, and also completely dry, even with really wet conditions. They were actually almost too warm for the conditions.

The gloves are amazing balancing the durability of leather and the performance of gortex. The gloves can be a little stiff but after a day of use they feel start to feel like a second skin. The details are really what makes this glove so great. The pull loop combined with the velcro cuff is a amazing mix that lets you put both gloves on in a matter of seconds. The gloves are plenty warm for just about anything, I 've used them down to below zero with wind chill with just a liner and my hands were as toasty as ever. I 've yet to have a issue with the palm leather wetting out. The only issue I 've had is that velco on the cuff can cause the material around it to fuzz up a little bit but it's barley notice able and is only a visual problem. Overall I 'd recommend these gloves for anyone who is looking for a great ski glove for the slopes, and beyond.

While I initially thought these gloves were too small( based on the sizing model), after I broke them in they fit really well. Overall, I really like these gloves. I find my hands get colder now in the winter than they did before. I like that these gloves are water and windproof, and some insulation for warmth. I also really like the fact that they have leather to increase their ruggedness.
