I ’ ve put them through two years of hard wear, including two deployments. They ’ re great for field work, and surprisingly, they can handle the “ intense ” conditions of office life too( perfect for all you back office people who think walking to the water cooler is a workout!). As someone who usually wears barefoot- style shoes( Vivobarefoot, Flux, Lems Primal, and Altra Lone Peaks), I was pleasantly surprised by how well these hold up in a work environment. Fit& Comfort: I wear a size 13( EU 47), and the fit is perfect. If you ’ re in between sizes or prefer a roomier fit, definitely go up a size. These boots have a bit more cushion and slight arch support compared to more minimal brands like Vivo, but in a construction setting, I actually appreciate the extra sole thickness. My feet feel supported without losing that barefoot connection — and best of all, they ’ re not fatigued at the end of a long day. Performance: Traction is solid with good grip, though the aggressive lugs can hold onto dirt and debris. It hasn ’ t been an issue for me in SoCal, but it ’s something to keep in mind in muddier regions. Waterproofing has held up well. Durability: After 8 months of use, the only real sign of wear is the toe box starting to separate slightly. Not a dealbreaker, but something I hope Merrell improves in future versions. Wishlist for Future Versions: • A non- waterproof high- top version would be amazing — same support, but more breathability for dry climates. • Stronger toe construction to improve long- term durability. I 've only wore these a few times but so far I really like them. I may have got a half size too big but they are spacious, flat and proivide lots of room for my toes. The traction on the bottom feels really good as well. I had ordered the low top to see if they would replace my trail glove but unfortunately those ones seem to have a much higher arch support than these mids. These ones are much more neutral. So if you are like me and want a more barefoot feel then these may work even if the low ankle wrapts did not feel good for you. I wear a 10 in some of their shoes and I got a 10. 5 in these.

These shoes are so much more padded and just as stable. I do n't know if I 'm crazy but I honestly feel better after playing with these shoes on. While the Vapor 9. 5's do feel lighter and faster I feel like my steps are bigger and stronger with the GP Challenge 1. End result, I think I am faster with these shoes on than with the old 9. 5's. If you 're a bigger player in the 6' 1 '' and taller range you 'll appreciate this shoe I think. I thought I was more of a size 12 in Nike but in this shoe I went with a 12. 5 after trying on some shoes at a local store. These my guy ’s third pair in twenty some years. They are still in the box because his second pair are getting rough looking but do not leak. He will wear them until they do. I happen to see them standing in the corner looking like something attacked them. One was ragged in the top so I bought a new pair. I found out what happened. Brida, our blue healer puppy was having a good time with Dad ’s boot. We have beef cattle and live Up North Minnesota where there is black dirt and clay underneath. Now that is MUCK when it gets wet and will pull your boot right off. Usually manure is mixed in with that muck. Now these boots keep your feet dry and haven ’ t lost one yet.

I love this shoe for it's stability and outdoor- ability. I do a lot of walking, training and working outdoors, and need a shoe with fantastic support and stability due to a previous foot injury. The SFB is the bomb- totally fits the bill. It has a wide platform, is supportive but flexible once worn a couple of times and it's easy to clean. I have had some trouble with the rear of the shoe wearing out, and they are 'slick' before you wear them in, but these are minor things.

I 've been wearing these for work for the previous couple years. My first pair had the carbon shank, the second pair does n't have the shank. Either way, they 've made perfect work shoes. They 're tough, take a beating, and look cool too. You should go a half size up for a good fit as these do run a bit small. I have a wider foot, which this shoe accommodates perfectly. Please Nike, do not discontinue this one for a loooooong time. Haaa, love these.

This is my second pair and they are very comfortable! This version of the SFB is awesome and quite frankly Nike should make a full boot version of this shoe! I did enjoy the SFB Gen 2 boots but the Carbon version is much, much better!
