I bought these to replace an old pair that was 10 years old, and these are excellent. I have used them to walk on local trails and sidewalks in slippery wintery conditions- 4 plus miles at a time. One thing you should consider with these is the great feature that has the strap over the top that keeps them well in place- the basic Yaktrax do n't have that. I wear with hiking shoes/boots and did size one up to cover the type of shoe sole.

The webbing loops make it easy to take them off when my hands are cold. I also like the light weight. When they get worn, sharpening with Dremel tools could extend their life. I switched from Kahtoola ’s( heavy!) five seasons ago and never went back. They ’ re great and I just bought my third pair.

From glacier to vertical these are perfect for everything. Maybe not the best for crazy technical ice climbing but for the rest they are a beast!! Since i bought them, I end up leaving my technical crampons at home!
5
For full disclosure I 'm a BD ambassador, but even if I was n't I would still climb in this crampon, and recommend it to everyone I can because I want to see it stay in the line! Several years ago, before the Snaggletooth existed, I spent a winter climbing with a different crampon on each foot to get a true objective feel for what worked best.( Most people do n't take the time, or have the luxury, for this level of gear `` nerdiness, '' and therefore generally have relatively subjective opinions about gear in my opinion.) What I discovered during this experimentation was that the small amount of flex in a horizontal point crampon, versus a nearly rigid crampon, created less fatigue and made for far less foot slips, than crampons with rigid vertical points. This is especially true on some of the trickiest terrain you encounter while alpine climbing, snow covered rock. At the time the only problem with using a horizontal crampon like the Sabertooth with dual points meant that it was sometimes hard to pivot on the smallest footholds, or use tiny seams. The Snaggletooth eliminated that problem. I 've used this crampon everywhere from Alaska, to Scotland, to Peru, and it is far and away my favorite. Sure, if I 'm going climbing at a steep dry tooling crag like Vail I will still use a Stinger to be able to toe into small footholds on steep terrain, and utilize divots created by traffic, but for the vast majority of the climbing I do, the Snaggletooth is the best crampon on the market.

Clip version, first impressions: amazing construction, very rigid, fits my size 46 Scarpa Ribelle HD very well with a few pins left for even bigger boots, sharp enough out- of- the- box, feels very stable and comfortable to walk in, reasonable weight. I will update the review if any issues arise, but from the initial testing- these are one of the tougher crampons I 've ever tried. Good job, Black Diamond! The only suggestion: at this level of quality, Black Diamond would reduce it's profit merely by a margin of a percentile point by including a soft and light cordura or similar tougher material bag for the crampons. All those bigger `` crampon bags ''( BD has one sold separately too) are not really needed in the field( too much space/weight), thus a simple bag, where one could put the crampons( tied together, teeth inside) just to separate them from the rest of the gear, would do miracles:) P. S. I 've just looked around my gear and somehow see 70- 80% of it being from BD. Need to add a disclosure on my helmet or somewhere else visible that I 'm not actively promoting you: D

I live in the Midwest. I ’ m not climbing alpine trails, or scaling ice walls. Why did I buy these then, you ask? Well, simple… we got 3 feet of snow that then blew around the next day and I had 4- 5 feet sitting on my roof that needed to come off. I finally had an excuse to buy a set of good crampons, that excuse being I need to get on the roof to remove the snow( removal from the ground is for lazy people). To take on the pitch of my roof I settled on the Sabretooth clip style. They fit perfectly on my Merrell thermo overlook boots and the back stays secure even with the boots mild heel welt that isn ’ t a real heel welt but rather a small grove. I was able to walk around the packed snow on my roof and shove it off. Never slipped, never felt unstable, never felt at risk of going over. They ’ re also going to be a nice addition to my pack for hunting season here just in case as well as my plans to go to Alaska to hunt.

When it comes to mountaineering, skiing, or hiking in icy and snowy terrain, having a reliable and lightweight crampon is essential. As a guide, I prioritize equipment that is both trustworthy and efficient, which is why I chose the Black Diamond Contact Crampons. Sometimes, the simplest solution is the best. A universal crampon that fits a variety of footwear while maintaining durability and performance is often the most practical choice. The Black Diamond Contact excels in this aspect, offering a lightweight yet dependable option for a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts. Key Features and Performance Stainless Steel Construction – Unlike traditional steel crampons, the Contact's stainless steel build prevents rusting and eliminates the need for environmentally harmful coatings that wear off over time. 10- Point Design – The compact, 10- point structure provides excellent traction while allowing for a natural walking motion, making it ideal for moderate mountaineering routes and glacier travel. Universal Fit – The fast- adjust attachment system is designed to accommodate almost any type of footwear, from hiking boots to ski boots, ensuring versatility. Lightweight and Compact – These crampons strike the perfect balance between weight and performance, making them easy to pack and carry. ABS Plates Included – The addition of anti- balling plates helps prevent snow buildup, improving efficiency in deep or wet snow conditions. Final Thoughts The Black Diamond Contact Crampons are a fantastic choice for those looking for a simple, effective, and reliable universal crampon. Whether you 're a mountaineer, skier, or hiker, these crampons offer outstanding grip, durability, and ease of use. For me, as a guide, reliability is non- negotiable, and these crampons meet my expectations perfectly. If you 're searching for a trustworthy and lightweight solution for ice and snow travel, these are hard to beat.

This is my second pair of Womens Lightening Ascent Snowshoes. I purchased the first pair when they first came out and used them for many years. I replaced the bindings on the old snowshoes and still have them as a backup pair but they are 25 inch models and I wanted the shorter version; so, I purchased a new pair. The new snowshoes have an easier to use binding than the old ones and the heel lift seems to be places in a better location for smaller feet on the shorter snowshoe. Other than the improvements to the new model they are still the best snowshoes I have ever used. It is important to get the narrower women's model if you are a small person. I have tried the men's model and they were too wide and more difficult to travel in. I a 5' 2 '' tall with short legs. I have had minimal issues with snow balling up and secure grip on steep icy terrain. I am a big fan of these shoes.

I last had snowshoes in Vermont 35 years ago. Have been a city dweller since, but just retired and moved to the Berkshires. I hesitated to buy snowshoes when I realized they did n't make them like they used to( wood frames, meshing, leather straps, etc.) Decided to try yours and was knocked out by ease and comfort and performance! Je suis( Yukon) Charlie!!

Great product at a great price. Watch the video, strap them on and GO! Well built and user friendly. My dog and I log 100s of miles on the Greenbelt Trail. Continued our hikes with and average of 16 inches of snow on the ground. Live in the north east and these snowshoes made this winter bearable.

My husband and I bought these snowshoes this winter 2014- 2015 and we love them. Easy to adjust, comfortable and a perfect fit. We recommended these snowshoes to all our friends and family.

The ski kit couldn ’ t be easier to take on and off the chariot. It ’s so easy to use, making it simple to get out the door! It ’s a very easy swap from skis to wheels.

Fantastic! Works great in any snow that you can reasonably XC or skate ski on. Pulling feels pretty light even when loaded with a 30lb toddler, water, and spare ice skates. Skis are smooth and don ’ t stick. Relatively easy to manage downhills. When ice skating, I try to preserve the skis and use the standard wheels with the ski kit body strap. That works great! Comfort tip: Make sure the pin clasps that attach the poles to the waistband point up, otherwise they may dig into hips or unclasp. While the burley itself doesn ’ t fold down easily, I really love how fast and easy it is to rearrange attachments depending on activity and conditions. Super quick set up! Best addition for winter by far. Loads of fun!

They are effortless to put on and off, light weight and very well built for a great price. The first pair I purchased was 5 yrs. ago, I gave them to my hubby they were not as easy to put on as the new ones I have now but, he's still wearing the older and loves them too!

Great snowshoe for a great price. When you 're starting out and you are n't sure if you want to invest in an expensive pair, these are perfect. Good traction, heel lifts, easy on, easy off. Good exercise and lots of fun, too. I ca n't jog in these weather conditions, but I can snowshoe for hours. Bought a pair for my girlfriend, too.

I wear these literally every day in my chilly basement apartment. They 're warm without making my feet sweat, are lightweight and are grippy on the tile and rugs. I also love the color and the shape of the boot. The shape makes them easy to slide in and out of but does n't feel like it loses warmth. Thanks NorthFace, these are definitely winners.

ALBSURE
Despite the negative reviews, this item is easy to install and works very well for hoisting roof- top boxes, kayaks, and canoes. I recommend first fastening 3- 2 '' x6 '' x42 '' boards to the ceiling to simplify installation. This makes for a very sturdy installation, allows you to install parallel or perpendicular to the rafter direction, and eliminates the issue of rafter spacing. The center brackets accept 5/16 '' lag screws, and the pulley brackets accept 1/4 '' lag screws. I used 5/16 '' x 3- 1/2 '' lags to fasten the 2 '' x6 '' boards to the ceiling rafters and 2 '' long lag screws to fasten the brackets to the boards. The vertical weight rating of the lag screws exceeds the weight rating of the Multilift.
