Great for the price. I 'm a hydration pack fanatic because I use them several times a week. This one is quite good. The good: Really well made and durable materials. It is a really versatile hydration pack that can be used for hiking, cycling, etc. It has some internal pockets in the main compartment that really distributes your stuff and the weight well and keeps the pack well balanced. The back pads are nice and plush. The straps are stout. The external stuff pockets on the side/front are very useful. I like how the waist straps tuck away if you are not using them. Trekking pole straps/compression straps are nice. The pack is really streamlined, fits snug against the body, and is very stable for activity. The stuff that can be improved: The hydration bladder and bite valve are not the best, but they do function decent and for the price it is not a big deal. It would be nice to have some sort of velcro on the large external stuff pocket just to secure your stuff a little.

This is my third borealis I 've had a couple years currently I use this one I have for work and it's an awesome day pack. It's blue. I love the material and it gets me to point a to point B. I love the leather bottom adjustable straps and the side cupholders seems very durable compared to the previous models. As far as it is standing up that's a game changer for me but the way you fix it is stretch the bag out. It will stand up on its own when it's filled so if you 're looking for a workhorse backpack, check out the borealis plan on buying another one all the best. Have a great summer.

Someone wrote that the Hikelite is lacking a handle loop. IDK, mine has one. As I do with all my backpacks, I put a large S- biner on it, so I can hang it, it even hooks over 40 cm thick stall doors so I do n't have to set my pack down. I also riveted thick vinyl sheeting on bottom so that it can be set down on icky bathrooms or muddy ground..... Osprey take note! Bottom of packs should have waterproof vinyl sheet!

Bought this to carry on my back while riding my motorcycle. It's perfect and despite being smaller, I was able to carry everything I needed in it. Even when loaded down it does n't feel like I have anything on my back. The only downside is when I 'm riding is that it shifts, but I may be able to buy a strap to anchor it, so it does n't shift. Other than that, it is fantastic! Plus, the price point is great as well!

I was finally able to use it this weekend for a baseball tournament. It worked great! The elastic pocket on the strap was able to fit my phone with not much extra room. Nice snug fit though. There are many pockets and pouches. You could stuff lots and lots in this bag. Everything stayed dry. I was able to bring an extra large water bottle, sunglasses, phone, charger, battery pack, snacks and used the straps to carry an extra sweatshirt rolled up. This is definitely a big enough bag for basic travel.

We absolutely love this bag as our personal item( as long as it's not overstuffed, it fits easily under the seat) to bring our toddler's plane snacks, toys, tablet, and other travel essentials along with a smattering of items we want to keep on us instead of checking through. The water bottle holders are fantastic and fit a regular nalgene perfectly. For trips without the toddler, it makes a fantastic one- bag option for light travel. I have this as a backpack and I love it. I am still in high school and I honestly could n't want a better bag. In my opinion it is a little small for all the stuff I had but not too bad. I love the look of it, the skinny cute bag is so nice and i love the light blue on gray. The side pockets are a bit small for all water bottles but most of the time i do n't have a hard time pushing my bottles in. The wire on the side though makes it hard sometimes but u just have to make sure you press down and not out.

It can be easily folded back up to fit inside. There are sturdy metal rods, with a heavy duty mesh piece on the back. It will definitely hold up when hiking. The bag is adequately sized for all hikes and most short camping trips. Despite its relatively small size, it boasts a number of impressive features. Firstly, this bag has a small plastic internal frame to provide structure. The frame is lightweight, yet sturdy enough for a fully packed bag. Because of the frame's assistance with weight distribution, everything felt lighter on my back. This bag also has many different pockets and straps for varied packing strategies. The straps on the bottom of the bag are perfect for a sleeping bag, ground mat, or small tent. Underneath those straps is a small pocket that holds an included rain cover to keep your bag totally dry during heavy rain. There is also a pocket on top of the bag for any small items you may need to access on the go, without opening or unpacking the rest of the bag. Finally, there is a pocket for a hydration bladder, so you can stay hydrated as you move. Some other useful features are the emergency whistle on the chest strap, the included strap management bungees( so those leftover strap ends after adjustment are n't hanging everywhere), and the water bottle pockets on the sides. Overall, I would give this product a 5/5. Met or exceeded all of my expectations. I would highly recommend this bag to anybody who is a frequent camper or hiker.

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

I try to use all of my backpacks as dual purpose. 1st is hiking and second is work/office backpack. This pack did amazing at both. I enjoyed the deep front valuables pocket for AirPods, chap stick, keys, knife etc. the main compartment has a number of different pockets that holds a number of things for hiking as well as running to the office. My biggest complement is the water bottle pockets I like to carry two hydro flasks one for water and the other for coffee. My son has recently outgrown his Jet18, after many many years of use and adventures. He is a tiny 11 year old, who is too tall for the Jet18, but too small for an XS adult pack. He has a 50l youth overnight pack that we love and the 38 is very similar! Like the 50l, I love that this pack is also adjustable and grows with the kid, allowing several years of use. He is currently on the middle setting( of 3 settings.) It has the top “ brain/snack pack ” that he likes and the inside is roomy enough for his 10 essentials, plus more. Osprey has changed the side pouches to have a fabric base, opposed to their previous mesh side pockets that would eventually wear out. I do wish Osprey made an adjustable back pack like this in a smaller liter. 38 liter is huge for a younger child as a daypack. He needs more than 18l( because his clothes are getting bigger and take up more space) but way less than 38l. I only have a 30l as an adult leader of the group.

` I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who has n't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7- 8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area- a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. Completed the Everest Base Camp Trek a few weeks ago. Out of 8 people in our group there were 5 of us wearing Osprey packs. I had the Scarab 30 and loved it. We hiked in sun and rain, hot and cold, through wood and over rock fields. This pack was on my back every day every step of the way. The bladder was full with an extra bottle of water on the side at the waist belt and the bag was full with essentials for weather swap outs and everything i needed to get from A to B and survive without my big duffel. It never chafed my shoulders or waist, felt great on my back and did n't sweat me up by allowing air to flow around it. It was exactly the right choice. The design of the bladder makes it very easy to fill and shove back in its home. the only thing i would change or add would be a cover over the drinking port. We were dropping our packs in a lot of places, on trails in Tea houses, coffee houses and different temples, everywhere and the drinking port always ended up on the ground. Would of been nice to have some sort of cover.

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! [ Love love love this pack. I ’ m not that experienced a hiker however I do know comfort. This pack is well- made. The frame allows it to move as you move without having deadweight on your shoulders. I got this pack the 24 L a little larger than my 22 for my Grand Canyon rim to rim hike, it doesn ’ t come up until October but with my practice hikes I find this to be very comfortable this pack. Also, the hip pockets are larger than most so you can put snacks and other important items that you need there. Easy access to use it from my room to thank you Osprey for helping me choose this one pack.

[ Excellent service. Thank you so much. Your people are such a joy to work with. However the product zipper has a latent defect that has not been corrected. The zipper doesn ’ t hold up. Only lasts about a year then the cloth part of zipper goes bad. I ’ ve returned daylite many times. While I appreciate the all might guarantee, it ’s still a hassle to continue this process. I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13- 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground- good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key.
