The Champion Duofold Men's Varitherm Expedition long johns are the best! A little pricey compared to some others, but you get what you pay for. I love the thickness, double layered. [ I have used these ski bibs about 6 times since purchase and have been very satisfied. My main reason was my old pants would n't keep me dry on a stormy day. [ One of the standout features of these pants is the combination of durable GORE- TEX 3L and lightweight GORE- TEX Active materials. This blend not only ensures exceptional durability but also keeps the pants light, allowing for efficient movement in the mountains. The lightweight construction is particularly advantageous during hikes, as it minimizes fatigue and allows for unrestricted mobility. The complete waterproofing of these pants is another feature that I greatly appreciate. Regardless of the weather conditions, I can confidently rely on the GORE- TEX technology to keep me dry and comfortable. Whether it's a light drizzle or a heavy downpour, these pants provide reliable protection against moisture. It's worth noting that if you plan to wear them over clothing, it's recommended to order a size up for a proper fit. In terms of fit, the elastic waist belt and ankle zippers allow for easy customization. I can adjust the pants to my preferred fit, ensuring optimal comfort throughout my outdoor activities. The zippered pockets are also a convenient addition, providing ample space to stash small gear such as keys, a map, or a phone. Furthermore, the packability of these pants is worth highlighting. They are extremely lightweight and can be easily compressed, making them a fantastic choice for backpacking or traveling. The ability to pack them down into a small size without sacrificing performance is a huge plus. In summary, the Men's GORE- TEX® Mitre Peak Pant is a versatile and reliable choice for outdoor enthusiasts. Their complete waterproofing, lightweight construction, and packability make them perfect for hiking and other outdoor activities. Whether you 're braving wet conditions or looking for comfortable and functional pants, these are an excellent option. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking durable, lightweight, and versatile pants for their adventures.

I 've had several pairs of rain pants from other manufacturers over the years and these are the best so far. They do n't restrict my leg movements, do n't leak, and are easy to get on and off. The rise is high, so you have good overlap with your top and the waist drawstring seems sturdy enough, although I pair them with suspenders also. Rain and wet brush are expected if you are outside much of the year here in the PNW, so you need some good rain pants.

Andy P
My issue is n't with the pants which are great, BUT with the sizing chart- I am 6' 3 '' and 36 '' waist and a large size works for me but I have an 34 '' inseam and the chart recommendation is to get a tall size however I think regular would have been much better. The pant legs bunch up at the bottom when I have mid waterproof hiking shoes on. The OR pro deal is great but unfortunately they do n't allow exchanges or returns. I would liked to have swapped this pair for a large regular.

traditional, robust trekking trousers with great ventilation in g- 1000 for year- round trekking, bushcraft and other outdoor activities. ... new, more inclusive fit and boot hooks now more
5
Timmy_D
Initial observations. These pants are true to size. They fit great with a belt. I was worried about the boot hook and vent zipper. The boot hook is tucked away so that it is protected from accidently catching. The zipper pulls on the vents tucks away when open or closed.

[ So far I own Barents, Barents Pro, Keb, Keb Gaiter and now Vidda pro ventilated. Barents are by far my favorite as they sit quite high, but unfortunately they do n't make them anymore and Barents pro sit lower( so does Vidda). Overall good pants, not as warm as Barents which is a positive side for summer and late autumn hikes.

[ Great pants fit true to size, I ’ m 34x34 so the 50 long fit perfect. Waxed them for hunting and they are the best fit for the job I have found. The beta layer version fits different, I had to size up in those.

[ I now own five pairs of these pants. They have become my everyday pants. Even when it's a little warm out, the vents help get rid of excess heat. Also appreciate the cuff hooks and snap adjustments. Plenty of front pockets that do n't impede your sitting on rocks or logs. Worth the money!

The quality of these ski pants are pretty good. Well made and so far seem pretty durable. Bought these for a Colorado ski trip in January and put many miles on these pants in 4 days straight of skiing. For the price you can ’ t beat them. Only problem I had was the sizing. The waistband is adjustable to a point but the overall sizes available weren ’ t fitting right. Either a little too loose or a little too tight. We went with a little too loose for better flexibility in movements. I would definitely buy these again.

One of the best mountaineering pants you can get- durable, breathable, and yet still warm at any altitude. These are my go- to pants for many PNW mountain treks( Mt Adams, Middle Sister, Mt. Hood, etc). The fit is fairly true- to- size, but I would have expected a bit more stretch in the waist. I 'm usually a 32 in most clothing, and M's feel a bit tight. There's plenty of stretch in the legs which makes for easily climbing, but the waist can definitely be a bit annoying. It's not enough to take away from how great these are, but something to consider if you 're on the border of sizes.

Took these on a trip around the Colorado four pass loop. As is typical, we got caught in an afternoon storm at 10, 000 feet and suited up. Pants kept us dry from the rain and wete sufficiently breathable for 2 hours of rainy hiking. They are definitely pants to put on BEFORE it rains because the ankle zips do n't accommodate footwear too well. But I knew that going in. Zippers are fail points for waters so we elected to minimize the water ingress points. Tl; dr kept us dry. Breathed well for intense, medium duration active wear

Bought these for my husband as he finally wore out his previous pair. Some differences made over time but overall he's pleases with them.

These pants are awesome. Great baggier fit for people with larger muscular legs. I ’ m 6 ’ 2 or 188cm and I got a L regular. Slightly long but nothing a belt can ’ t help. I took them on a mountaineering adventure snowshoeing through knee to waist deep snow without getting even a drop wet. Incredible breathability, stretch, and comfort. I love the color too! They even ripped because I snagged them with a crampon and still didn ’ t let any water through!

Very warm, quick drying as I live in a rain forest. I 've had a pair for over a year and loved them so much I needed a second pair as I mostly live in them through fall, winter and spring. No damage or ware for over a year

Wore while snowshoeing in cold conditions. They worked well with equipment and kept dry and warm

Perfection! I 've been on the search for a down pant that is n't made for 5' 9 guys that are 250lbs. No offense to you fellas but us long legged guys seem to get left out in the cold( pun kinda intended) when it comes to length. Mountain Hardware knocked this out of the park all around. I need another pair before they disappear.

[ First try on these pants( Tarmac in 52) and I find them to be a little large in the waist. I find them about perfect in the seat and thigh and appreciate the length( prefer 35 ''- 36 '' inseam). The fabric is soft even without washing and is quiet as others have mentioned. I 'll drop down a size for the next pair and try another color. The Tarmac is kinda hard to describe as it appears to almost be what I 'd call a dark olive. I 'll have to wear them for a while to be able to tell about how tough they are( hope they are as tough as nails cause they ai n't cheap. To wrap it up, a bit large in the waist but fine fit otherwise for me.

[ Been wanting these for awhile, I love the fit and color. Definitely planning on buying the other colors. Like other Fjallraven they can run a little big.
5
StuatMoosejaw
[ I have every color of these pants that Fjallraven makes them in and love them. Great everyday pant for life at work, going out, etc. Well built and in the winter I wax them lightly to help with keeping snow off. Only issue I have had is the back pocket buttons breaking off of them, but Fjallraven in Denver promptly fixed them for me and had them sent back to me in no time.
5
alpenfrost
[ I purchased these several months after acquiring some Vidda Pro trousers. The Sormland are definitely a bit more casual looking and I have worn them to the office( business casual), around town, and for some short autumn hikes. After having the hem adjusted by a tailor, they may be my favorite all- around pants. The fit is now fantastic( they are a slimmer fit, unlike the Vidda Pro) and very comfortable. Given what I have heard about the durability of the G- 1000 fabric, I look forward to years of good service from these pants. I would not hesitate to use these on a long, multi- day hike or for doing field work, etc.
5

[ Have worn these bad boys for several weeks now and( as with all things Fjallraven) I love them. Excellent fit, excellent craftsmanship. I have yet to put them through the ringer but thus far they have held up well on windy desert mornings and wet and cold east coast evenings. They look great around the office too!

Light Hiking Shell Pant Perfect for the Pacific NW ... Quiet fabric compared to Goretex Pro trousers I have from another manufacturer but equally as tough and weather

[ I like that this shell trouser is very quiet compared to other rain pants or snow pants. I also like that there are two big pockets to put hands in.
5
payney
[ Bought the Eco Shell to use over the standard Keb trousers in wet and/or snowy conditions. Plenty of room over the trousers for layering purposes. Nice high waist and tapered leg for full coverage in lousy weather. Normally wear a Keb/Vidda Pro in size S and the Evo Shell are perfect with the same sizing. Quiet fabric compared to Goretex Pro trousers I have from another manufacturer but equally as tough and weather resistant.
5
Nick
[ Fit: I 'm 6' 2 '', 165lbs. I usually wear a 32 '' x34 '' pant. I bought a size Medium in the Keb Eco Shell Trouser, and they fit like a 34 '' x34 '' pant. The velcro adjustment at the waist, and the included belt, allow for a comfortable fit( FYI: there are two sets of belt loops:( 1) narrow loops for the supplied belt; and( 2) loops that overlay the first set and accommodate a standard width belt). Performance: I 've worn these on several day hikes in varying winter conditions throughout the Cascades in temps from the 20s to the low 50s. They 're comfortable, very breathable, have excellent mobility when negotiating steep terrain, and kept me warm and completely dry during soaking rains, downpours, and snow. The drawstring at the end of the legs secure the pant over my boots and kept out water, snow and mud so well that I have n't donned my leg gaiters since buying these shell pants. They 've held up well to underbrush, but the shell fabric showed abrasion and slight tearing around the knee when I took a spill on scree. While the Cordura inner legs are burly, I would be hesitant to use these shell pants for any activity other than hiking, backpacking, or for crampon use during snow/ice walking.

I had a pair of Columbia ski pants that unfortunately ripped during a fall due to the rigid material. I have no worries about these. They stretch just like sweat pants but are waterproof and super warm. I 've now been using them for over a year and they 're just as good as the day I got them. I can wear these without long underwear when its in the 20s and 10s and I 'm just fine. They have a ton of pockets and some vents too. Absolutely amazing ski pants, Im never buying non- stretch ski pants again.

[ This pants has serve me through 15+ snowboarding trips within 3 months. It held up until the 9th trip when a small tear suddenly appear, it was probably from me trying to get the snowboards off the top carrier. Even with the tear it kept me warm enough with 40g it insulation, it would have been nice to get 60 or 100g to keep you warm enough without adding any layers. This was the only boots that has short as an option and has a wide enough pants opening to cover my boots, which isn ’ t too bulky. The color is amazing( mountain red) in person next to the snow. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great snow pants!

skibum2009
The Cushmans are very warm and comfortable, but what sets these apart from other ski pants is how short they are in the inseam for short people. Most `` short '' inseams are 29- 30 and these are more like 27- 28 inches. No one else I know makes pants that short for us shorter people. Great job, Columbia!! Wish you all would come out with some more colors. How about an Azul Blue? Pockets are plentiful( but a little small) yet still has a keyring for your keys to attach to so you hopefully wo n't lose them on the hill. Best ski pants I 've ever owned.

I ordered the pants and jacket to replace some old faithful ones that have been reliable for years. I 've always been happy with the Helium line for backpacking. Although I would n't call them super durable thats not really what they are meant for. I use them as the lightweight layer to keep rain off on the occasional rain during backpacking trips or light rain.

Straight forward wind breaker pants with some added insulation. Packs a lot of warmth for not being baggy and hugs tighter to the leg without being constricting or feeling like running tights, this allows you to layer thermals underneath it for the really cold runs. I found it perfect for winter and spring runs and will buy some again if I ever wear these ones out.

I bought this a few weeks ago and these are my fave pants ever. Baltimore has been unseasonably cold and these have been my go to for walking or running with my dog everyday. If I ’ m going slow I ’ ll wear fleece pants. But if I ’ m moving these keep me warm and help me flow.

This is my second pair of these pants. I think they are great. I use them all winter on mountain treks. Very comfortable and when it gets colder, I just layer with my merino wool underneath. I 'm 5- 7 '' and weigh 160#. And the mediums fit great.

Predominantly a cold weather running pant, though I have used it for nordic skiing as well. I ca n't speak more highly of both these pants and the jacket. Both stretchy and comfortable, and also breathable. Do n't feel like I 'm wearing a plastic poncho at all. And they kept me totally dry all day hiking in Peru during the rainy season.
5
Scott the Biker
I picked these up for winter fatbiking. Combined with a merino base layer, they are nearly perfect. They keep the cold air at bay and breath really well, like I have n't seen from other pants. Nearly perfect. As another reviewer mentioned, after less than 10 rides, the seated area has started piling. Excellent otherwise.

I bought these pants for ski touring, mountaineering, and backpacking and I have been nothing but impressed. The material is strong but still breathable and it repels water well. On a recent trip to Peru they kept me warm but also cool during the day. I am very impressed by how well these pants maintain a good temperature. This has quickly become one of my favorite pairs of pants. I am 5 ’ 11 ” 150lbs and a medium fits me great.

I 've been looking for a lighter version of hike and cross- country ski pants and these fit the bill perfectly! I practically 'live' in these pants as they are really comfortable! Used these on a hike up Mount Monadnock, temp was sub freezing the entire hike and I was comfortable during the climb. I 'm 6' 225lbs and ordered an XL. They were slightly big on me despite the sizing guide saying this should be my size. I had to draw down the belt as far as I could. However there would be plenty of room to layer if I needed too

I have had Burton covert and cargo pants for years because it was what I thought was good. These 686 pants are waaaayyyy better in every way. I always wear XL and that is what I ordered knowing the reviews all say they run big, which they do, but I wanted a baggy fit. I use impact shorts and knee/shin guards when I ride. The pants fit perfect over this and do not hinder my mobility like the other brand. The color is awesome and I stay warm and dry all day.
