I love to wear this hat around town or when we ’ re out on sunny days. It ’s very comfortable, and the brim holds its shape well. I don ’ t use it when I ’ m out gardening or mowing the lawn because I prefer my other Sunday afternoon sun hat that I can throw in the washing machine if it get dirty. That ’s not to say that I couldn ’ t use this for light yardwork. It would be great with the sun protection, I just prefer to not get mine dirty. I got this hat because the brim is slightly smaller than my full on sun hat, so it ’s not as awkward to wear in the car or indoors, but still provides a good amount of sun protection. I got the goldenrod color, and it ’s a little darker in person, but still a cool color. It does seem to run a little small compared to my other hats of the same size, so if you ’ re in between sizes, probably best to size up. Oh, and the sunglasses holder is awesome! After having them in a couple of sun hats, I would never want to buy one without.

The Ultra Adventure is my fifth Sunday Afternoons hat-- and my first in this style. The other four are the Sport model. I got my first one eight years ago for sun protection and haven ’ t been without one since. I burn easily, and after dealing with some retina issues from bright light, I ’ ve gotten very serious about protecting my eyes. I also walk a lot near lakes and other water, where the sunlight can be really intense. These hats do a great job covering my face and helping block glare.( I still wear sunglasses too for extra eye protection.) They fit true to size. My head is fairly small and I wear the Small/Medium. One small note-- the slider in the back tends to loosen easily, so I secure it with a quick stitch of thread and that takes care of it. They 're super easy to clean. I just soak them in enzyme- based laundry detergent for a few hours or overnight, rinse well, and hang to dry. Even after all these years, my hats still look great. I keep buying them because I like the colors, and I ’ m trying this style for a little more coverage. Highly recommended for solid sun protection, especially for your face!

I bought this hat for a recent trip to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands. It exceeded my expectations; it was simply outstanding. I misplaced my other sun hat like this one. I love that it folds and that the brim does n't flop up in the wind. It provides lots of shade without looking completely dorky. I have n't tried the sunglass holder yet, but it's cool that there is such a feature.

This hat is cool because it has a brim for sun protection but it's not huge and floppy. Size up for a bit more brim, or down for a more compact brim. I love these hats but you should strongly consider making the adult size S/M a flat out Medium and makeing the youth large witch starts at 6 inches and ends at 6 7/8 a small. I 'm infuriated by the laziness of this. I and many others with small heads would like to have more to choose from like the adult selections. This is flat out discrimination against those of us with smaller skulls. We like hat's too. Like I ssid in my previous review, if they would have had the PHG in youth sizes and frankly all the different colors and designs, I would have spent$ 1, 000 on hat's the day I purchased 12 hats because there are only 7 youth colors and I was n't really feeling the electric pink, but I got two of each. These are really great hats, I love them and I wish Columbia would take a look in either making more styles in youth hats or get rid of the S/M size and make it a Medium and the large youth hat a Small. Because every man with a tiny peahead such as my self are very tired of being discriminated against. I like Columbia clothes/gear. It's mostly what I wear and I almost got rid of all my Columbia stuff, all the pants, shirts, fleeces and coats but the youth hats saved the day.

My son and I both got this same hat for Scouts camp in the Adirondack mountains in August. It was HOT during the days, and these hats did their job keeping the sun out of our eyes. This is a great hat for any who spend a lot of time in the sun. So much cooler than most ball cap style hats. Much better air flow and space for your head to breath. I have been looking for the perfect visor for several years after my favorite was discontinued. Most of the ones with wider brims were just too big and made me look silly. I have a very small face. And you take off in the wind like the flying nun. These visors are the perfect length for keeping the sun out of your eyes. I love the lightness; however, I ’ m not sure how they will fair in strong winds. I also wish they had more colors to choose from. I like the light gray, however, it didn ’ t allow me to tighten it enough; The light purple was easier to tighten to my needs. Another way visor would be even better is to have a terrycloth lining on the inside of the headband.

I love boonie hats, but the Sport Hat can keep out all angles of sunlight. It is feathery light on your head, but it is still rugged. This is my third one as others finally wore out or got damaged.
