I have been waiting for a hooded version of a packable puffer that was still cute, and after enjoying other Halfdays products for skiing, I was excited when I saw this in their spring collection this year. This jacket arrived several weeks ago and has been great for everything I 've thrown at it! It has kept me warm, dry, and cute on rainy commutes to work, mulching my garden, and taking my dog on a field trip to our local forest preserves. It has been comfortable in temps as low as 35 and as high as 65 or so for me, personally. I love how lightweight it is, and that is compacts down if it warms up during the day and I need to pack it away for my commute home. I live in the interior of BC, Canada, where it ’s often brisk in the mornings and evenings. [ This is my second pair of these. I have not yet had a chance to wear them because the weather has been nice. But what I love about them is that the fully separating zippers allow me to don and doff them without the need to tak my boots off and on. Even more importantly you make them in a short length( I am only 5' 1 '') and that is the ONLY way this concept works. You can not reasonably shorten rainpaints with a separating zipper-- you have to start out with the correct length and not many companies cater to this need.

It's in my backpack for every hike, and my carryon whenever I travel. And while it's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather's a little chilly. It's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. Glad I bought it during the big sale!

Took these on a trip around the Colorado four pass loop. As is typical, we got caught in an afternoon storm at 10, 000 feet and suited up. Pants kept us dry from the rain and wete sufficiently breathable for 2 hours of rainy hiking. They are definitely pants to put on BEFORE it rains because the ankle zips do n't accommodate footwear too well. But I knew that going in. Zippers are fail points for waters so we elected to minimize the water ingress points. Tl; dr kept us dry. Breathed well for intense, medium duration active wear

Not sure how to use them? Are pants suppose to go under them? if so shorts or really supper thin ultra light hiking pants. Not as generous as the picture. I understand there `` minimalist '' meant for backpacking but would of like to have a bit more leg room and perhaps a wider hip so you can put them over pants. [ I have had it now for about 2 months. A couple things.... I am 5 ’ 7 ” and 170 the jacket fits great it is long for my height but how I prefer it. Very light weight but perfect for the in between weather. Comfortable in 50 deg with a t shirt underneath and 35 with a few layers underneath. So far I have been in 4 rains, being stuck outside for 15 to 20 minutes each time. Kept me dry.

I recently bought this jacket for my trip up through Oregon and Washington. It pretty much either rained of snowed the whole time I was up there and this jacket held up to everything. The fit is great, love the rust color I ordered, and the pockets will blow your mind with what you can hold. I ’ m 5 ’ 10 and big boned at 250 so the xxl fits me perfectly.

Loved this jacket enough that I bought it in black for city travel and red for hiking. The best feature 100% is the extremely breathable back, great to avoid overheating when I 'm wearing a backpack. I like that the side vents are there, but I dislike how easy it is to mistake them for the side pockets. And of course, I like how you can keep it waterproof with wax instead of PFAs. I 'm 32D, 26 waist, 5 ft tall, 120 lbs and went with US XS.

[ I love these pants!!!! Perfect for hiking especially in Washington state when it can start cold, warm up, and get cold again. The fit is very comfortable I ’ m wearing biking shorts under them in the picture. They are super lightweight, durable, breathable, abrasion resistant, stretchy, quick drying, zipper hand pocket for security, legs zip off to 8 ” short, and adjustable hem. The legs zips off super easy and they are a good length I ’ m 5 ’ 2 ” to give you an idea of where they hit. I would absolutely take these with me on any hike and especially overnight hikes cause they are so universal. Put long johns under them and stay warm. These are worth every penny.

I 'm not into the look of puffer jackets, but needed a warm goose down and landed on this design which I like better than the traditional design. The fit is great, not too loose not too tight. But, I debated keeping it for a while. I will be using this while speed skating on the outdoor oval in Lake Placid. However, it's been very cold here in North Texas and I 've been ice skating a lot, where the rinks are kept extremely cold. This jacket is like wearing a hug. It is super cozy warm. It's definitely become my new favorite piece to wear anytime I 'm cold. Excellent insulation while super lightweight. Plus, it's a unique design for being a puffer. Does n't look bulky. Get it!

Great jacket, lightweight and very warm. I use it for snowboarding as an under layer for my shell and casually around town. Seems to be shedding a few feathers, but not too much concern at this point. The BEST part about this is it does not hold odors like polyester. I can wear this jacket for weeks without concern. Similar Patagonia jackets you wear once and they are basically ruined. Personally, I think the `` light '' version is better for technical wear, while the `` regular '' is cuter and more fashion- forward.

I am an adventure supervisor at a therapeutic boarding school in Northwest Montana, and I use this jacket to lead hiking, biking, and climbing trips in cool temperatures. I also took this jacket camping with me in Glacier National Park when the temperatures got down into the teens, so I was able to compare its warmth to some of my other jackets. Although it loses some of its warmth without a hood, it kept me surprisingly warm in those low temps. Overall, however, I found that the biggest positive to this jacket is the durable material! The stretchdown feels more resistant to nicks and tearing, and I can see this jacket lasting a long time. It's also a plus for me that the down is RDS certified-- yay for animal welfare! I would not bring this as my only puffy jacket when backpacking because I would need the extra warmth that a hood brings. However, this layer would be really great for climbing in moderately cool temperatures because of how durable the material would be on the rock, or as a bonus layer to stuff in a pack for a little extra warmth. I gave this jacket four stars, mostly because of the fit. I am 5' 5 '', 120lbs, and I ordered a small because I normally like to layer underneath my puffy jackets. However, a small is too big on me even with layers underneath, and it also has a boxy fit around the shoulders. I would order an XS next time for sure!
