First, I really liked this helmet from a comfort and fit perspective. It kept my head dry, fit well without constricting, so no complaints there. Second, I ’ ve referred to my helmet in the past tense because on a recent ski trip( I ’ m a boarder, but my family skis, so I ’ m going with ski trip here) I caught my edge on my last run( I know, I know) and I was slammed into the slope on my back, and I whacked my head on the ground. It was a hard impact. I still got a concussion, but I am certain my helmet saved me from much worse. I ’ ll be replacing my helmet with another Smith. Hopefully the new one will have a more peaceful retirement.

First ski helmet that I 've bought and could n't be happier. I measured my head and was in between small and medium--- initially buying a small but had to return for a medium to allow room for my balaclava. It is lightweight, but breaths. Feels and fits great!

Solid helmet with a great fit/integration with Smith Squad Mag Googles. MIPS makes the helmet fit smaller than advertised, but this was OK for me. If you are at the upper end of the size limit, be wary. Pretty warm, which is great for our cloudy midwest days. Earmuffs definitely make it harder to hear people talking to you.

We do a lot of sledding and snow tubing as a family. Problem is the slope gets icy and fast real quick. I usually make the kids wear their skate helmets. Recently My husband started wear his hockey helmet i was just wearing my wool cap and my parka hood drawn tight. I began to get worried i was going to get a concussion after watching my husband wipe out and seeing his helmeted head make contact with the frozen snow. I literally purchased and had shipped to my house 7 helmets before deciding on the Smith Nexus. I 'm a methodical and OCD kind of guy. Passed on top helmets from POC, Glade, Atomic, etc. Nexus is low profile, warm, fits well with my goggles, looks cool, is n't too heavy- I could go on. The price is a little high, but worth it.
