I have had this bag since 2017 and I beat the crap out of it and it has held up beyond my expectations.. The only thing I wish is that I could wash it better, because I am so hard on my stuff. I would put one more strip of padding on the bottom of the area for the laptop and two way zippers for the front little pocket, One other suggestion is for the side pockets where you can put your drinks it would be cool if one of those was a little longer, and you could zip it up.... This bag is very well made, nothing has come apart, nothing has had to be replaced and all the zippers are intact at almost 8 years since purchase with daily use!

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

Because it lasted so long, I bought the rekanken mini, for smaller version, the kanken No 2 for my laptop, the weekender qhich is awesome as a carry on even at airports, the sling which I use as a purse and the tote for groceries and stuff. I only use fjallraven now, cause you can never go wrong. It is made to last!! Also I feel like is very stylish, I only wear black and only hace the boack ones, the color hasn ’ t faded. Make sure to wash it every now and then in delicate warm cycle or by hand. I love that it doesn ’ t take any space, and is super light. I am surprised that for such small and simple handles they haven ’ t torn. I gave away any other backpack or bags that are not this brand, this is by far the comfiest, classiest and best. If I end up buying a new backpack ever again, it would be this same exact one just to renew, althought I have a feeling it can literally last a decade more, impressive Fjallraven.

I visited the peak design store for a warranty issue that was expertly resolved and laid eyes on the travel backpack. The internal design for organization and the features included were excellent. Wmith space for a 14 inch laptop and tablet, organization for SD cards, cords, included deep water bottle pockets externally and expandable design, I had to try it out for my upcoming international trip and this bag did not dissapoint. Its sleek look but functional features are second to none that I 've found. Its easy to access in tight spaces like a plane seat but also opens fully when at your destination. It is comfortable to carry and durable. I have a few more international trips planned this year that require quite a bit of tech to carry and am extremely happy to have found this bag. This is the second one of these we own. My son has the first one, and after the first year of carrying it for school a thoroughly beating it up, it barely showed any wear or tear. The net pockets on the side were the only place that a couple of very small holes had occurred. Other than that it was in perfect condition. I like it when I do n't have to buy a new backpack every year. So this one was for my daughter. She should be good to carry it at LEAST for her last 2 years of school. I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

My son picked this out to carry his lacrosse gear. This is a great backpack with plenty of room. There ’s a separate, zippered compartment on the bottom for his cleats. It also fits a pair of flip flops. The main compartment fits his shoulder pads, elbow pads, and gloves, and has some extra room for his jersey, small towel, and clean shirt. There ’s also a smaller pocket on the front that he puts his mouth guard in. Side pockets for water bottle and of course it also has straps for his stick. Very happy with this purchase!

[ Great bag when I am on the go. It ’s small, light weight, good looking and all weather resistant as the material will repel water. It ’s not a heavy material, light enough that you would not mind taking it anywhere. So far I have taken it to the gym and used it as a diaper bag, it ’s versatile in my opinion. In terms of the material, it ’s like a sturdy all weather material type, see pictures, very easy to clean. I have been able to wipe off milk spit up from my newborn fairly easily, that ’s a plus. Don ’ t see why one would not be able to clean off anything else if anything was spilled on it. Plenty of pockets, one in the front with a zipper, beneath the front you can hold a towel, baby blanket, burp towels, changing mats, gym mat whatever you need. There ’s a few pockets in side the bag as well, see pics. Plenty of space for a quick run to the store, gym, doctors office, play date- I ’ m really liking this bag. I ’ m digging the way the bag looks as well, it ’s sporty and gymish, like a gym bag had a baby with a backpack- I would probably make the backpack straps bigger, as that ’s what I prefer. This is my third borealis I 've had a couple years currently I use this one I have for work and it's an awesome day pack. It's blue. I love the material and it gets me to point a to point B. I love the leather bottom adjustable straps and the side cupholders seems very durable compared to the previous models. As far as it is standing up that's a game changer for me but the way you fix it is stretch the bag out. This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

[ The 65L Ampex Hiking Backpack as a whole is lightweight, comfortable, and breathable. Overall, it has plenty of smaller exterior pockets that are accessible within an arms reach when needed. The waist belt pockets are a pleasant feature that I ’ ve never experienced on a hiking ruck before, which add to the accessibility of its pockets given that the pack doesn ’ t need to be removed to reach them. The padded shoulder straps are comfortable and have plenty of lashing points which are great for attaching lights or other tools. The waist belt serves well to distribute weight and secure the pack, and the pack seemed to be highly adjustable but I didn ’ t need to play with it much. The top of the pack has a quick access pouch for essentials that serves well to store smaller items without having to access the main compartment. The main compartment has plenty of space being a larger sized ruck, and has one divider that appears removable towards the bottom if it was to be needed. The top compartment of the pack is removable as advertised and can be used on its own, however it leaves the ruck feeling somewhat naked with just an exposed drawstring closure underneath. The removed “ pack ” achieved by taking it off would not serve well for a day pack as the straps just buckle into themselves to form shoulder straps. This in and of itself feels like an unnecessary feature. The main compartment has access by way of the drawstring at the top, or zippers located on the front which are great for horizontal access without unpacking the entire ruck to access deeper items. At the bottom of the pack there is an included rainfly that tucks away nicely in its own pocket. There are lashing points located on the bottom of the pack that held a sleeping mat for me quite nicely. The wire/ mesh frame that the pack sits on is breathable, comfortable, and distributes weight well when carrying lighter loads. One glaring issue that I had was the manufacturers recommended load limit of 42 pounds. For such a large capacity pack, you would think that it would not be an issue. However, any experienced camper or hiker knows that when carrying a sustainment load or anything other than a days worth of supplies, that weight will be eaten up very quickly. While this pack has many of the amenities and features of a more expensive ruck, I would recommend a sturdier pack and frame for more extended trips, hikes, or hunts. All in all, the pack is ideal for day trips or light camping. If the buyer doesn ’ t foresee themselves approaching or exceeding the weight limit, it is a very light and comfortable ruck that was clearly designed with accessibility in mind at a competitive price.

My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. I found I needed to have it just under the longest setting to fit me correctly with the middle of the hip belt on my iliac crest. I think you might be able to squeeze into this pack if your torso is 19 '' maximum. Easily the most comfortable pack I have tried on, very happy with my purchase.

[ Just returned from the BWCA with my Aether 65. This is a nice pack that worked well for a 4 day self supported journey deep in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Our trip included 5 portages with 3 having quite a bit of undulation. The pack was weighed down with 44lbs of gear and was comfortable( as much as 44lbs of gear can be, definitely dropping some weight on the next trip). I liked it because I typically start trips like this fresh and strong and have my pack set up to that posture with quick( on the fly) adjustments being made as I ’ m flagging from hiking and paddling for hours. Nice pack that is well thought out with all the features you need and none that are useless. Both of my sons were wearing the same pack with zero complaints. I 've had this pack for 4+ years now. I take it on a couple backpacking trips a year on average and some day hikes where I 'm carrying more than normal. It's always fit everything I need. I 've carried a large tandem packraft and paddles with it( alpacka forager). I 've hiked 30 miles of the Kesugi Ridge Trail with it. The most notable use I think was for a caribou hunt I did a couple years ago on the Denali Highway. I packed out a cow caribou including all meat and 4 quarters bone in and the hide with my other knives and day pack type gear 5 miles down a mountain side and back to the parking lot via the trail. Roughly 100lbs. No buckles broke or came undone under tension, no rips, straps worked well to keep the load secure and close to my body. It only creaked and groaned a bit under that load, but otherwise performed well especially for not being a hunting pack. I would buy again!

Bought as a gift and have n't given it yet, but my initial impression is the backpack is very well made and the organization is designed well. I 'm a big fan of Aer products, and the organization and quality seems similar.

I bought this backpack almost 2 years ago! Most of the year I 'm somewhere else, so I like to joke that this backpack is my house( 😅). Even I use it a lot, it looks brand new! One of my primary concerns was the safety of my notebook inside, I did n't have any problems yet( always fully packed). Only two things I can think are not ideal. Firstly, is not a backpack for hiking. I like to hike and this is usually my only backpack so I use it anyways, but when I compare it to other hiking backpacks is not as comfortable( the solution I found is to exercise my shoulders and back 😆). Lastly, the chest strap is losable. Since it can be fully detached, it's not impossible it will fall when you have it on just on one side and you will lose it. Thankfully they sell replacement strap, so I used a cheap one from an outdoor store until I could buy it from them.

I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13- 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground- good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key. I will call regarding this. Otherwise- highly recommend this pack. So light, so comfy, so kind to my body after a long haul. Thank you.
