Purchased my Raven in Dusk last summer, and used it last fall, and getting a lot of use this spring for everyday outdoor use as advertised. It was my first purchase with the brand, and I love the jacket after years of never having a suitable transition jacket. Although I normally fit in size large, the medium fits great on me( 5' 9, 190lbs), with ample space for layering. I 'm from Ottawa, Canada and I 've found that the jacket excels in the 5C- 18C range, depending on conditions. With good layering like my down vest and/or merino base layers, I 've worn it down to 0C if there 's not too much windchill, but around there I tend to switch to my Greenland Winter. Not much experience in anything more than light rain for short periods. Fit, fasteners, colour, and design/style are my favourite aspects of the jacket. Minor points, but a metal zipper and slightly lower collar without the hidden hood that I do n't expect to use would have made this jacket perfect, but it does n't bother me, and I look forward to many years of use!

I wear this on my windshieldless moto going 70- 89 mph and it does the job on windblocking. When it rained, it keep deflecting rain. I wear a merino thermal, my casual, moto protective shirt, and my thermal heated liner, which I do n't have to turn on the heated liner at these temps because of the windblocking and having gear insulate the heat inside. I love this field jacket; my favorite jacket. I want to buy a more expensive jacket here, but this one was beautiful to pass up. Its big for sure for my 5' 5 stature at Medium, but I have full range of motion with all my gear on underneath and that 's awesome. Buy it! worth it!

Great jacket for those of us living in the Southeast US. was able to wear comfortably down to around 50 degrees F with only a lightweight cotton flannel shirt underneath. You can go much colder if you have a suitable insulation or base layer underneath. I bought in dusk for a classic style yet unique colorway that stands out among your standard olive or khaki surplus jackets. The G1000 softens up a bit with wear. Supposedly water resistant, but I would caution against wearing if more than a light sprinkle is in the forecast.

Nothing on this jacket is disappointing. The hood actually rolls back up into the collar. It is great against the wind and rain while on bike. The tie downs on the inside keep all the heat inside. While I have n't used the pockets much yet I know they 'll be great for gloves and hats this winter.

Probably my favourite fleece. I own two. My first in dark olive is about 5 years old stood up well through outdoors work and chores got a bit bobbled but I gave it a shave not long ago and it looks as good as new. Second is a Navy one bout a year old I save for best. No bobbling or damage looks great both wash well and have good warmth. I Keep checking back for a black one but to no avail.

Superb jacket. Bought one in navy initially and have since bought several in different colours. It ’s really versatile, looks great with outdoor gear, jeans or more formal wear and is trusty and hard wearing. Fit is spot on and pockets are useful. Like the hem cord to bunch it up when necessary and the hood protects from the wind. I like the brand as it represents quality but isn ’ t an obvious or common choice. Jackets get lots of positive comments. I haven ’ t waxed any of mine as I imagine it will lose some of its tactile qualities; if I used them for more outdoor/adventurous activities I ’ d be happy to wax.

I am surprised by how much I appreciate this old- school jacket. It is extremely durable; very comfortable and quiet; and has a beautiful timeless design and style. I have been wearing the Skogso as my everyday jacket- and bought this one on sale as a work/barn/farm jacket. I must say that I love it so much I almost hate to only wear it on the farm! That being said it is the best farm coat I have ever had- I use it in every season, with wool/down underneath in the New Brunswick winter. A note on the waterproofness of wax- treated G- 1000- one can greatly increase the waterproofness( and durability) of G- 1000 with wax treatment( and although a bit tedious, if you enjoy looking after/maintaining fine things, it is actually fun!). That being said, no one wold claim it is as waterproof as a modern( and toxic) synthetic waterproof- '' breathable '' material. But, G- 1000 breathes better than any modern synth rain jacket; and( this is rarely mentioned) G- 1000 drys incredibly fast- even while wearing it. For me the pros of G- 1000 greatly outweigh it being less waterproof than a synth jacket. I am not going to the moon- both I and my clothes can dry by the fire; in the sun; or even walking on the trail. This is a superb jacket. Though I have never owned one- this jacket sure looks very close to the Vidda Pro- surely the Vidda Pro is based on this design?

After six months of use, I thought it was time to write a review of this jacket. I purchased the Greenland Jacket in the fall, so now after seeing three of the four seasons it 's best suited for, I can say it was an excellent choice for various reasons. First, its durability. It 's functioned well in both heavy rain and snow. I 've had to reapply the wax coating three times( the first attempt was a failure). I would not advise using a hairdryer to melt the wax. It 's both time- consuming and results in an uneven blotchy look. Go with an iron, apply light even layers of wax and you 'll find the outcome far superior. Once I used this method, I was satisfied with the overall outcome. The Greenland Jacket will work very well during the shoulders seasons as well as the wintertime. Second, it 's a great choice for layering during the colder months. I 'm 6' 0 '' 185lbs and a large will fit well as a single layer( jacket only) as well as an outer layer with a down insulation layer under the Greenland. I 've owned( and still own) various shells and this in now my go- to outer layer in the winter months. It provides moisture protection and the features I both wanted and discovered I did n't know I wanted! The four large button pockets are great for storage, easy to access when wearing gloves, and blend well with the overall look. I also found the front two- way zipper to be a great option for venting when heat dumping becomes necessary. The only small complaint is the zipper can sometimes be difficult to start, but nothing that would make me reconsider this product. Lastly, it 's a stylish timeless look. There 's a reason this design has been around for decades, its functionality as well as the timeless look. So in terms of both function and style, this is near the top of any choice out there. After buying the Greenland and now six months in, I can say it was a great choice and I think most anyone would agree.

I 've owned a lot of jackets over the years. Helly Hansen, Eddie Bauer, Spyder, Khul, Mammut, etc. This is by far the warmest jacket I 've ever owned. Even at 30- 35 degrees( F) I sometimes find myself unzipping it as it is too much insulation. I 've worn it out to about 5 degrees with only a light sweater under it and was not even slightly cold. There are more technical jackets out there if you 're looking for backcountry skiing stuff but if you 're just looking for something to keep you warm around town, winter hiking, or sledding with your kids, you ca n't beat this. Also looks great and super comfortable.

Love this jacket. Bought the medium but unfortunately due to the mid- life spread it was too tight around the mid drift, so that one to a friend. Bought another in large, fits like a glove and both of us have gotten some good wear out of these already. An absolute perfect jacket, I would love to see Fjallraven make this a full winter jacket with extra insulation similar to the Nuuk Parka, then it would be an absolute beast of a jacket.

I have had this Jacket for now the 3rd winter and my wife has the female counterpart we love the jacket. It is exceptionally warm and as it stops the wind and and does resist moisture. I have worn this jacket in- 40 wind chills and dont feel a thing. I recommend whenever possible!

This jacket was bought gor me as a gift about a month ago and I think I 've worn it every day since, through November into December, in a wet and Stormy Wales. The medium fits my 5'11 '' frame perfectly. Warmth is n't an issue. I 've worn the jacket with only a t shirt beneath, in windy, freezing temps, with no issue at all. Lots of handy pockets and a hood that works best with a hat worn beneath. Regarding rain. I 'm not going to wear the jacket for prolonged rain. But for showers or drizzle my unwaxed jacket works just fine. For the time being I 'm not going to wax it, as I like the way the jacket looks and I do n't want to change that. So a superb jacket for cold, windy, damp days. I love it.

I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. Glad I bought it during the big sale!

LOVE this jacket! I 'm 6' 2 and bought XL for extra movement and layering when snowboarding. Pros: The synthetic fill is the best I 've ever felt, I honestly thought it was down fill. I love that it stays warm and holds its lofty puffiness when in wet snow conditions. My other Sitka down jacket loses its loft quickly in the arms and back when I start perspiring from a morning of hiking or snowboarding. But 's it 's so soft a cozy. I often just wear a t- shirt or thin base layer under it if I 'm just staring around a camp fire. It 's very warm and the hand and chin backings are super soft. Cons: My only complaint is that it does n't have a well placed hood draw string for windy conditions. The single draw string on the hood is more a retention string for side to side movement of your head. And the outer fabric is very delicate, I know its gon na snag and tear on a tree branch one of these days.... I personally wish it was a little bit thicker like on my wife 's Expedition down jacket.

This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket 's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. After all the accolades though, what stands out the most about this brand to me is that it was born in the City of Detroit for the tough, honest, hardworking man and wearing it, to quote Doc Holiday, kind of reminds me of me.

I got this jacket a month ago and since I ’ ve used it during heavy rain in the city and during winter mountain climbs. I can say I ’ ve had no issues with the waterproofing. In the winter mountain, this jacket became irreplaceable for me. Being so light and breathable is such a game changer- I sweat much less, less need to stop for water and I feel much less exhausted. It ’s packing small, so it ’s super easy to fit it in the external pockets of a backpack, so you don ’ t waste any unnecessary time- game changer when you are in the winter mountain. The pockets are awesome and the jacket is super comfortable. I was worried about the Velcro on the cuffs, since a lot of jackets will loosen and let air in between the cuff and your gloves, but the Velcro works super well and gives you a solid locked- in feeling. Last but not least, it beats off strong winds like it ’s nothing. This feature helps you dress lighter, move faster, and get tired less. This jacket improved my performance per unit of effort in the mountain, which is essential since most mistakes happen out of exhaustion. Really happy about my purchase!

[ This is n't really a rain jacket per se, but it is water resistant enough that it can be used for a short duration in even very heavy rain without much bleed through. The build quality and fit- and- finish are top notch, as you would expect for a jacket in this price range, and it is very breathable, with multiple vents. The only real gripe I have with it is that I wish it was a few inches longer.

I love the fit and feel. Very lightweight, which I wanted, as a summer weight jacket. The stretch improves the fit and feel over my other bomber. The only things I would change is; Add the original bomber style shoulder pockets and tool sleeves, maybe even on both sides. A velcro shoulder patches with a cover that matches the jacket fabric to hide the velcro if preferred. Stretch cordura or something cut resistant to protect in the shop against sheet metal edges or on the street for self defence. Hand pocket designed more like the original without the flap. This puffy is best used for around 0 C to 5 C in dry weather, in sub zero temps it may not be warm enough. The fabric is soft and comfy to touch with a nice fleece lining on chin and neck area to keep that area warm and also helps if you have a beard. I 'm about 170 cm, 66 kg and a small fit too tight in the chest and armpits, medium fits well relaxed with room to layer, the sleeves are just a bit long. The hood and collar have nice coverage to keep head and neck warm. Personally, I do n't mind the yellow shoelace, it does n't get in the way much. A great feature is the double zipper which allows you to vent heat without taking the jacket off.

I live in the Western mountains of Maine beside the White Mountain National Forest. We get spooky weather here. It was a brittle- 10° when I got up at 0530. I threw my Expedition Pack Down Hoodie on over just a merino wool base layer. Something I wear 24/7 in the winter here. I was quite comfortable outside. Look, I found myself just wanting to go for a walk the other day just so I could wear it! I love the length in the back. Not keeping your butt covered is asking for trouble! Love the arm length which SHOULD be a tad longer than normal to ensure no `` pull up '' around your wrists. Love way you can pull this jacket around your body. Everything is adjusted just for me! Any jacket like this really shines with proper layer material. It 's no secret but, just go with wool. Period. A wool base layer( I go with the thickest I can find) is the key. I quite often wear just my wool base layer for a shirt. Job well done Fjallraven!

The jacket fit my normal sizing( didn ’ t need to size up) with enough room to add a layer or so during the colder months. Initial inspection ended with all seems, zippers and surfaces being in good condition and well made. It withstood the test of heavy winds and salt water leaving nothing to be desired. I am a bike packer and gravel rider. I underestimated how good this fleece would be on the bike. It breathes super well but is warm on the downhills. Conversely it is stylish at work. It is a base/ mid layer, not a bulky fleece. It ’s streamlined enough to wear on a bike or running. I can see this as a base layer for skiing this winter and nordic ski adventures. It ’s light enough to come along backpacking or bike touring.

[ I recently bought this for the Minnesota cold. It is larger than average by one size. I normally wear Medium and I had to order to the small which is an excellent fit. I 'm 5' 9, 180s. I 'm not a fan of the cinched cuffs and the puffy appearance, and it would be much better if it had a shell like the parka version. It 's the warmest jacket I own and the others I own are jackets made with various warm materials such as goose down, primaloft and thermore. It 's definitely worth buying!

[ This jacket is WARM. Definitely gets limited use in our mild PNW winters, but we 've had mid- teen temps with single- digit windchill this week and this jacket has kept me very comfortable. I 'm 6' 3 '', ~190 lbs-- I originally ordered a Large Tall, but found it to be huge so swapped for a Medium and it 's perfect. My only gripe is that the gold sleeve lining tends to hitch a ride on whatever layer is beneath it and peeks out when putting the jacket on or trying to get at your watch. Not a huge deal, but could be mitigated by a row of stitching an inch or two up the sleeve. Furthermore, the gold lining feels remarkably thin and I wonder about its longevity... to be determined! Even so, it 's a great jacket, and I can now face the brief bitter temps we get a little more readily:) Thanks!

I like the jacket for downhill( lift) skiing at Whistler/Blackcomb:- The hood covers the entire helmet and stays up. I like to ski with my hood up when it 's a bit cold.- The big, wide collar to zips up to cover most of my face even when wearing a thick face covering.- It has appropriate insulation. You need extra layers underneath when it 's cold but it should be quite wearable for spring skiing with just a shirt on underneath.- Pockets are where they should be and the right size. Some suggestions for improvement:- There is no place to attach a whistle which would be close to the mouth. The zipper pulls where I would normally attach a whistle are solid and not useful for that purpose. This is quite important when skiing a big mountain resort like Whistler/Blackcomb. There really needs to be a place to attach a whistle near the mouth. I may get a little loop sown in some place on the jacket.- The inside chest zipper pocket should be on the inside of the insulation rather than the outside. This would keep the phone and other electronics warmer.- It would be nice if the collar was just a bit higher, maybe by a centimeter or so. Not a big deal. Overall I am very happy with the jacket so far.

This jacket has ended all desire to purchase anything else. Great quality and build. It ’s kept me warm and dry on chilly pow days and the vents keep me cool on the sunnier days. The oversized hood goes over my helmet and keeps me very cozy. Easily the best jacket I ’ ve invested in. It is a little big but that does allow me to layer comfortably while still maintaining mobility. I ’ d prefer this over a tighter fit and baggy is steezier anyway. If anything, I would prefer zippered internal pockets but that ’s just me being nit picky.
