Our family has several stoves ranging in size for backpacking and kayaking to car camping to portable cooking for large crowds. This single burner is great by itself or in combo with a two burner or another single burner for weekend camping. You save the room on your picnic table and the power of this stove boils water in a jiffy for coffee and cooks up breakfast for six in a jiffy using the single burner griddle( sold separately) on medium low heat. We very rarely use our table top stoves anymore- the quality at 30k BTU output more than makes up for the added bulk if you have room. Get yourself a two burner with griddle and bbq box and save this one for pans and coffee making on an open flame so you do n't have to swap out accessories. You 'll be able to cook for the entire camp! We have a dedicated 5lb tank for this and it will last a week with regular cooking. I do n't give out five stars easily- this unit earns every single one.

The wind block collar adds a bit to the weight but is more than worth it. Works great on windy nights. Best stove I 've ever had. Cup locks into place so it's stable and heats up very fast. Heats 1 cup of water for me with 100 g fuel so I get 10- 13 meals from one small cannister.

[ The MSR isobutane cartridge is 20% propane so it works down to- 10F or better. Can tip the cartridge upside down to feed liquid so the propane does n't all burn off, leaving just isobutane that wo n't work below 11F. Has the liquid pump and hose so it will burn white gas or kerosene at any temp. The burner does n't sit on top of a tippy fuel cartridge and is nice and wide to accomodate larger pots, but narrow enough for the small pots too. Fuel cartridges are easy to find and kerosene and white gas are pretty much everywhere. The cartridges have a weight chart so you can determine the fuel level on a scale or just place them in water and read it. We had troubles before with a standard n- butane burner in winter, they do n't work below 31F. The only alternative is bulky and heavy propane gear. Included an aluminum windscreen and a nice aluminum pad to place the burner on to reflect heat. You can get tiny cartridges for a quick pack- in up to large ones for car camping. I had the international version many years ago and it worked great, but the cartridges are more convenient. Also, some national forests/parks etc. will not let you use liquid fuel due to instant shutoff requirements especially in fire seasons.

I have used my the WhisperLite International for something like 20 years! From bicycle 🚴 camping 🏕 trips to Florida hurricanes 🌀 I used it for about three weeks straight when hurricane Charlie took out the power. About the only thing I have done to the stove is clean it maybe 🤔 every year or so and I think 🤔 the only problem I have had was I had to replace one little O- ring! That reminds me I have to replace the O- ring that I removed from the little service kit. I recommend that service kit I replaced that O- ring at night during a hurricane 🌀 power outage and all those O- Rings are special and your not going to find one when you roll into a campground at 02: 00 🕑 AM in the rain 🌧 on your bicycle 🚴 and all you want to do is get something to eat and go to sleep 🏕 But if the stove needs an O- ring it is going to be cold Mountain House Chicken 🐔 Teriyaki 🤢 and a cold breakfast 🍳 So you need to get the service kit at least for peace of mind!

Excessive Moderation
[ Love this stove. I had a MSR Dragon Fly stove for years, which is great for simmering or slow cooking gourmet backcountry meals, but `` very '' loud. Whisper Lite actually boiled water faster than the Dragon Fly, and its quietness is worth loosing the simmer option. With a little finesse, you can still simmer somewhat with the Whisper Lite. I have not used the one that I ordered as of yet. I bought this because a buddy of mine has it and have used it a few times and it is great. Much lighter than my old setup and is much faster, meaning less fuel. I do n't mind that it does n't have an igniter, I tend to just throw a mini Bic in the cup and leave it there, not to mention I always have another lighter with me for emergencies.

[ The Zip 0. 8L is my new go to stove for most adventures! It is easy to use even without the directions since the labeling on the jetboil illustrates the proper usage. This is the first of the jetboil systems I have owned and I am very pleased with its functionality. I have been able to use it quite a bit this winter and it boiled water quickly even in negative Fahrenheit conditions and higher elevations( tested around 10000 ft). Changing the amount of heat is smooth with the dial and it is seamless to ignite. My favorite part is the lid that makes it effortless to pour hot water out and the additional holes if you need to control the water you drain out. The system is also very easy to clean and pack. I plan to use it not only for ski/snowshoe days but also on my next camping trip to Norway since it's so small and easy to pack. Jetboil gave me this free product to try.

[ Jet boil gave me this product to try. I could n't be happier with it. I 've used it winter camping in the Beartooths in Montana and I was amazed how well it worked and how efficient it was. Highly recommended!

[ Jetboil gave me this free product to try. As a bikepacker who values lightweight, compact gear, the Jetboil Zip 0. 8 has become my go- to stove for all my adventures. After using it on several long- distance bikepacking trips, I can confidently say that this stove is a game- changer. First off, the lightweight design is perfect for bikepacking. It's small and packs down easily, fitting into my gear without taking up much space. It is super light, it wo n't weigh you down, which is essential when you 're trying to keep your gear minimal and efficient on the trail. The boil time is impressive for such a compact system. I can bring water to a boil in about 2 minutes, which is fast enough for a quick morning coffee or preparing a meal after a long day of riding. It saves me time and energy, so I can get back on the trail sooner. I also love how fuel- efficient the Zip is, especially since bikepacking often means you need to carry enough fuel for several days. The stove's FluxRing technology ensures an even boil while using less fuel, so I can stretch my fuel canister further- saving both weight and space in my panniers. One feature I particularly appreciate for bikepacking is the neoprene cover which helps to insulate the pot while also keeping you from burning your hands. It's built to handle the bumps and jostles of being packed alongside other gear in my bike bags. The stove fits nicely into the pot, with room for a fuel canister, matches and utensils. I also like that the plastic cup used to protect the Fluxring has volume measurements on it in case you need to measure out a small amount of water. The Jetboil Zip might not have all the bells and whistles of more advanced models, but it's incredibly effective for what I need on the trail. It's affordable, reliable, and just the right size for my bikepacking setup. If you 're planning a bikepacking trip and want a stove that's efficient, easy to use, and does n't weigh you down, I highly recommend the Jetboil Zip Cooking System. It's simple, durable, and perfect for fueling your outdoor adventures.

[ I have used the older versions of the jetboil, and they have streamlined a few things. For instance the regulator knob is indicated with a+ and- diagram. After a January camping trip in NH, where temps dropped to 5 deg. F, and I could n't get my MSR Pocketrocket to work, I purchased this lifesaver. Used it in February, again in NH, and will forever more carry my WhisperLite in the deep winter.

Tried and true, it's obvious why the whisperlite remains the top expedition stove. Although it's quite different than the canister stoves, it was very easy to learn and get used to. Boiled a liter of water relatively quickly below freezing temps. Very excited to continue using the stove throughout the winter. I definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys winter fun like I do.

[ Great setup for a simple lightweight quick boil option for backpacking or light car camping travel. Functions as well as many priced higher. The issue before was a real crummy ignitor that many complained about and for good reason- mine broke before the end of the first trip I used it on out of the box. Returned and got the new setup with an ignitor that is incased now and not exposed as the original model. Would have given 5 stars but the cheap plastic lid is the next upgrade for this item that needs to happen. Put a sturdy lid on there where you are also not pouring hot beverages through a plastic surface- enough with the microplastics already!!!

I purchased this item, with the french press attachment, to take on primitive camp outings with the boy scouts. This worked perfect for what I purchased it for, which was the ability to have hot coffee in the mornings. Also took it on day backpacking trips to have a hot lunch. This item would be good for any beginner looking for a stove/pot lightweight combo.

I bought two of these stash. Cook sets one for myself and one for my sister. My sister had experienced a really bad storm in DFW without power so I sent her one of these so she could make lentils and rice. It came in clutch! The second use case I have for it is… I feed my dog, the honest kitchen brand food, which is basically freeze dried human grade, but in powder form. You basically mix it up with hot water and make a nice thick porridge. I keep one in my truck so that I could quickly heat up or barely warm up the water to make a hot meal for my coco pup basically anywhere we are! Plug: i also own the 3 other JetBoils. The Genesis full system, micro mo and mini mo. Took the mini mo to Banff and made the Food- for- sole brand meals. It was amazing to have it take care of 6 people using it taking turns. We had our food and a gallon of water. Spent the entire day at lake lousie and kept everyone nourished. They all have a place in our camp setup.

When you think of camping, backpacking, or survival, you should be thinking of water and food. I have multiple of the JetBoils in my various kit bags. Backpacking for 1, for 2, my get home bag. This unit( and all of the various units they make) accomplish so much in a self- contained package. For the features, it is relatively light( it will never win the “ ultralight ” challenge of a simple pocket rocket, etc) but it is your water boiler, it is your eating vessel, it contains and protects the heating element, you can pack your fuel in there. If you want an easy to use, well know and tried and trued package- the JetBoil line accomplishes a lot!

I used this camping in the high country of Northern CA, or the snowy mountains of CO, as well as driving around scouting and glassing. I was not very easy on it. It would live in my pack or in my truck, getting tossed around and having things fall on it or just bouncing around while driving down not well maintained dirt road. It still works like the day I pulled it out of the box. Striker still works great. Lid stays on. I have not found a reason for the orange stand that comes with it. I have been using the fuel can as the stand.

Awesome. I use this on every backpacking trip. It is definitely big, but if you 're cooking for multiple people having the space is well worth it. I will use the cup to mix up food and stuff in( some people are more purists and only ever allow water in their jetboil) but using it to actually mix stuff up means you do n't have to pack extra pots and pans which is a big plus. And it is big enough to stick your fuel cans and stove and utensils, etc. inside. And having the measuring markers makes it even more useful too. Great workhorse.

The Jetboil Sumo is an excellent choice for backpackers and campers who prioritize speed, fuel efficiency, and convenience when cooking for small groups. While it ’s bulkier than Jetboil ’s smaller models, its large capacity and reliable performance make it worth considering for those who need to cook more than just a solo meal. This stove is pretty easy to use and has a straight forward design. It ’s functioned well in both hot and cold weather for me multiple times. I don ’ t know if it is any more effective than a pocket rocket for most people. But if you are boiling larger pots of water for a whole group the extra support of the legs really help keep things stable. All in all I would recommend this stove it might not be the lightest but works like a charm!

The water boils extremely quick even at altitude when paired with the Optimus pot. The fuel system is simple and easy to use while still providing ample variability in flame intensity.

Recently did a trip with some buddies in the White Mountains. We summited North and South Twin, Zealand, and Hale. It was late December so temperatures were around 20F. After letting the stove heat up for about a minute, I flipped the canister upside down to put it in four season mode. I do n't remember how long it took to boil my water but our elevation was about 4600' and it did n't feel very long. The stove was even so compact that I fit it into my 1L pot, along with a small rag and my zippo. I 've only used it in the field a handful of times but the thing seems bombproof. I even spilled a bunch of water on it and after lighting it again, it only took a few seconds to clear the water and work normally again. Definitely recommend!

[ This is an amazing product. Turning the can upside down is the new trick that we learned. Makes sense and so simple. Reaching he boil point is quick.

[ Bought this for a boundary waters trip and for backpacking with multiple people. Wanted something bigger than my pocket rocket. The low stance and hose really help with stability. My 1L msr pot fits well on it. Probably could fit a 250 g canister and this burner in the pot( have not tried). Nice feature of being able to flip the canister with the built in tripod. Only feature I miss is an ignition.

Works just like you think it would. I was always a bit nervous around the higher more unstable base of the stove without adaptor, especially if you are boiling up a liter or more. The low- down is still sorta tall but has a much more stable base for all the boiling you need to do

Used this winter camping for coffee in the morning… worked amazing!! Took moments to boil the water. Having the press included made this setup very easy.

I use my Jetboil all the time! I have a wide variety of stoves and use this one the most. It is so fast for boiling water and so easy for making coffee. On roadtrips I use it to make quick coffee every morning and in the winter time I ’ m boiling water for ramen noodles in the ski resort parking lot. It is a little bulky for backpacking but I have brought it along a few times. For backpacking I would bring along a more compact and versatile stove. I end up using it in random situations like long hikes, days out playing in the snow, and car camping trips. After about a year of heavy use it wobbles a bit on the fuel canister and the sparker is inconsistent which can be solved by bringing a lighter. Would highly recommended for anyone who spends time outside and loves coffee.

Simple, Compact, Effective. Three words that describe this stove. I have used this stove for several years on a daily basis. There is something satisfying about a fresh cup of coffee or hot tea after a hard days work or for calibration. Iv even roasted the occasional dove breast over the flame when the occasion has risen. This stove stays in the truck, back pack, boat, or blind where ever I go.

My only suggestion is give an option for Legs on a pot ring. Maybe a simple ring with legs, aluminium or a triangle the same height as the pot grips to keep from dumping my coffee water, omlet pan or soup.

I have to agree with the majority of the people that have rated this stove anyone else was rated at less than five stars absolutely has no clue what they 're doing. I have wiped mine down repeatedly with all kinds of cleaners etc the finish on this product is second to none it's well applied powder coat and it is solid and I mean solid is not cheap tinsy little metal like some of these old camp kitchens. I especially love the burners cooking in the wind they 've held up beautifully I 'm able to boil water at no time at all and the heat that's produced by those burners is fantastic it's the last stove I think I 'll ever buy I 've got a trailer and I 've got a Jeep and it's going in both of them!

Awesome cook stove and extremely dependable. The Genesis is like the gold standard cook set that all others are compared against. It costs more but you get so much more in durability, adjustability of flame, fuel efficiency etc. Not a hiking cook set but works in all other arenas.

The Genesis system is one of my best kitchen items. I have both the basecamp( 2 burner) and the single system. Absolutely never fails, great click to light that lights even in high wind. The flame is extremely sensitive making high heat vs slow boil settings very accurate to cook with. It's small, lightweight and stackable. Highly recommend
