I 'll admit that I have always thought Altra shoes were not for me. Between the squared off toe box and the zero drop DNA; I just never gave them a chance. purchased from nike, not Dicks. But i have seen a lot of non- typical reviews that may dissuade someone from giving these shoes a chance. I have over 300 damage- free miles on these shoes and i am just now looking at getting a replacement pair. not due to damage, but just due to the zoomX foam losing its `` springiness '' which is typical for it over time. I started wearing these shoes coming from wearing nike free's for years and just wanted to give something else a try that is lightweight and without a carbon fiber plate. These shoes will not `` destroy '' your ankles if you are already adept to wearing a minimalist- style shoe. These are not true minimalist, but they are very lightweight, lighter than my minimalist shoes, and have a very low heel- toe drop. Both of these specs can compete with minimalist shoes. Coming from wearing minimalist shoes, my ankles, feet, and lower legs are strengthened to adapt to the less cushioning and stability. If you transition to these shoes straight from wearing `` traditional '' trainers, there will be an adjustment period and you may decide its not for you. That is not a knock on the shoe, but more of a characteristic of this style of shoe. I transitioned to these shoes pretty seamlessly from my Nike frees. Streakfly's are the lightest shoe Nike makes, and extremely flexible. Like wearing socks. This is what i look for in a shoe, and something to consider for anyone looking at giving these a try. It is a very fast shoe, but it will lose its responsiveness over time due to the exposed ZoomX foam. They can still be used when this happens though. I am not happy that Nike decided to add a carbon fiber plate to the new Streakfly's, although Nike did make the shoe even lighter. I uses these shoes as a daily trainer and do not want to run with a carbon fiber plate every time, this can cause injury. i am currently looking for deals on these shoes from other sellers because they are not for sale through Nike anymore and i want to pick up another pair before they are completely gone. Bottom line, if you are someone that is already used to wearing a lightweight, flexible shoe, with low drop, you should really give this shoe a try. If not, there will be a transition period before you can wear this shoe all the time. When i transitioned to minimalist, i went through several shoes of gradually decreasing weight and drop in order to let my body strengthen and acclimate.

Minor slippage on my right foot as it ’s slightly smaller than my left foot. Toe cap is not your average Nike narrow one. I was n't thrilled with any of the women's models/colors in wide width, so I decided to purchase the Men's Escalante 4( mens regular is equivalent to womens wide width) instead. I wear a 10- 10. 5 wide in womens and went with the mens size 9 in black/white- perfect fit. Of course I wish the color was a bit more feminine, but at least there was a neutral option! I 'm new to the wide toe box, zero drop but I 'm absolutely in love with this shoe& hope I never have to go back to traditional tennis shoes. Zero- drop requires some adjustment time- my calves have been BURNING on walks, so I 've had to slow it down. FYI I tried Flux footwear first, but they are ridiculously narrow, so I had to return( also beware their return policy). I wear my new altras for walking and strength training primarily, and I plan to wear them when I visit London for 10 days in October. So happy with my purchase overall. One critique is I 'd like to see more wide- width options for women.

I bought these shoes 3 weeks ago and I would say they are the most comfortable shoes I have run in. I am a big guy weighing 110kg, but these shoes are so well cushioned that I do n't feel the impact of each footfall in my knees. I have also noticed a significant reduction/absence of the shin splints I used to have. The rockered sole also helps with forward propulsion. I absolutely love these shoes, however I would say breathability leaves a bit to be desired.

Non elite runner, former Div 1 soccer player and a high school basketball player! Like running for conditioning and its simplicity. These are my first plated super shoe. My favorite shoe all- time is the 2017 Nike Turbo Pegasus. The Vaporfly 3 is a great shoe, but there are a few caveats. It is really light- weight, well cushioned. It has a lot of pep and a very good toe off. I am a mid foot striker, so the shoe is very effective at improving your speed. Heel strikers, this shoe could be trouble. I am relatively neutral runner too, so, non- neutrals beware! I have only run 5 miles in the show. My first two times was on a dedicated pavement path. Light rain both times! The sneakers are pretty grippy. I had No slippage! These are very “ airy ” uppers- no over heating at all. I have high in- step and arches! I use a runners knot- perfect! No heel slippage and very good lock down! The plate with high arch was noticeable, but, no discomfort running! The shoe excels at running at pace, and when speeding up. It does both effortlessly and it seems to prefer that tempo to any other running style! I did not run on trails- and I would not recommend! The trail would probably shred the soles! I am not sure if the rear rubber bumpers will make it to 100 miles ’ and I am a mid- foot striker! The shoe laces are quality and had no slippage! The toe box is roomy and I wore my true Nike size 10. Visually, the shoe looks narrow, but, it did not feel “ narrow ” when running! Quite the opposite, actually! I do not have narrow feet, and I had no problems with the shoe ’s last. I am about 6- pounds heavier than my ideal running weight of 141 lbs and the shoes easily handle my weight. Bottom Line; an amazingly engineered shoe, bouncy, very light weight, airy and cool, no heel slippage, pretty good traction, very good lock- down, excellent for running at pace and for higher tempo runs. I have no intention of running more than a 10K in these. And I would NOT wear these for “ easy runs ”, nor for “ recovery runs ”. These are highly focused and motivated and performance driven running shoes! There is not a mellow bone in its body or soul! The carbon plate is noticeable, and may take some getting used to. I will try to update the review after 50 and 100 miles, to see how the shoe is wearing and holding up. I bought the shoe myself, and I fully recommend. The shoe challenges you to run efficiently and with pace. The shoe has a purposeful mindset!

The only thing that I 'm disappointed in is that I did n't try these until right before the Vaporfly 4 replaces them. Absolutely loved these on my marathon training long runs and looking forward to wearing them in my first marathon. I have been wearing Hokas for years because of the need for support, and I liked the rocker sole. I have had to quit running, however, because of joint degradation, and needed a flatter shoe that still provided good support. I needed a shoe that I could lift weights in, so it needs to be flat enough to feel the floor; and yet allow me to knock around, take long walks with the dogs. An all- around sneaker. So I took a chance on the Revel 7, based on the configurator and its recommendations. I have been wearing them for about 3 weeks, and they are working out pretty well. My only concern, and it's a rather small one, is that I feel the seam of the sneaker on the outside corner of my great toe in each shoe. I take some long hill walks with the dogs, and that seam has not been an issue, has n't created blisters or ongoing discomfort. I am just fussy, is all. I am interested to see how the shoe wears in the next few months. If it wears well, I will be back for sure. The price is right, and it's kind of a relief wearing a lighter shoe with good support after years of the heavier Hoka.

In a world of brands chasing to be like the next HOKA or medial posting is a dirty word, the GT 4000 stands a defiant example of classic support for my flat feet and the cushion is great for my plantar Fasciitis. I also appreciate that the shoe has a higher more old school heel drop for my Achilles tendinitis. Most shoes these days by other brands are having the posting removed or the heel drop lowered and those tend to hurt my arches, heels, knees and shins where the GT 4000 does not and it offers me relief. It fits well enough to accommodate my inserts as well. My only wish is that they make the toe box just a “ hint ” wider. Other than that this is the perfect shoe for me…. leave it alone and do not update it. Just keep coming out with new colors in wide please! Would love a GREY midsole option in wide.

If yours squeak, try some baby powder between the insole and sole. I think these have a glued down insole if remembering correctly, but i think i peeled them up in mine. Put baby power between the layers and try to get it to go between the sole from the upper and the foam of the cushioning/midsole where they are sewn together. Sometimes there are vent holes as well. If you get them really wet/dry and that gets washed out it will return some eventually but you can redo it. Ive had several different styles of squeaky shoes and this works. The squeak is between the upper sole and midsole and not the outer sole and the ground like most people think. That is why they squeak on any surface. Had these shoes for about a year and a half now and used and abused them. Feels pretty much as good or better than pegasus i had, although it is hard to ever get a direct comparison. Ive worked and walked a lot in them and usually feet feel as any other shoe Ive ever had. I coach and do a lot of outdoor work.
