I tend to bring a jacket with me where ever I go so I love that it is packable. Other packable jackets I 've tried can feel cheap or flimsy, but what I like most about this jacket is that there is no compromise quality of the material- it still feels great when I wear it. If there was one thing I would change about this jacket is the cut; the length is a little too cropped and the sleeves a bit baggy for me personally, but I know that's the style and it can work great for others.

Initial inspection ended with all seems, zippers and surfaces being in good condition and well made. It withstood the test of heavy winds and salt water leaving nothing to be desired. The new 3L Fabric is a huge improvement over the older Foray, it's robust, has just enough stretch, and overall is impressive. I was somewhat hesitant as they moved away from Gore but seeing it in person I am 100 percent a fan and it's better in every way. I wore this the other day in 25+ mph wind gusts. I wore it over my flannel shirt and it was comfortable enough to pull over my existing clothing choice. The jacket was very easy to pull over existing clothes. As a bonus, it ’s also easy to take off and it doesn ’ t rip off your existing clothing when you pull it over your head. The jacket is a bit wider, but that ’s so it can fit over your existing clothes. The bottom has string you can tie up to cinch the jacket for a tighter and more wind- resistant fit so it won ’ t flop around in the wind gusts. The hood also has a string for the same purpose. The jacket held up pretty good in the wind. I ’ d imagine if it was much colder it wouldn ’ t be that great. But it was in the 50s with a lot of wind. It appears to be a good choice for a rain situation, but was unable to test that out. I would definitely recommend this jacket for hiking, camping, or any even on the golf course.

I was looking for a jacket for cooler Spring and Fall days where a 'winter' coat is too heavy, but a windbreaker is too light. This jacket is the perfect in- between jacket for those days. I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

I have a number of OR gear/jackets/fleece. For reference I 'm 5'10 '' and weigh 215 average build so I typically wear an XL in OR and L in some other brands depending on fit. This jacket is very well made and everything fits to be expected except at the waist. It's very small compared to my other OR jackets which surprises me. It is warm but the Storm color is n't accurately represented in the pictures. It's a much lighter grey color in person.

[ Bought this in the purple/blue combo a few weeks ago in- store and I absolutely love it! The large is perfect for me( 5 ’ 9 ” 165lbs). I have long arms and broad shoulders and the sleeves are perfectly long! It ’s roomy enough to layer, if it ’s chilly. I love that it has UPF and is super breathable, perfect for any outdoor activity. I ’ m going to buy it in black too!

[ I purchased this jacket in the blue/purple combo and I loved it so much that I also bought it in black! The material of the black one is slightly different, though, and is a little stiff and noisy( reason for 4, not 5 stars). I ’ m sure it will soften up with time. This jacket is so lightweight and comfortable! I was looking for something with UPF 50 for my walks in the warmer weather. Total bonus that it ’s packable. I throw it in my motorcycle backpack for day trips. Runs true to size. I bought a large, and I ’ m 5 ’ 9 ” 165lbs with long arms and broad shoulders. Arms are plenty long, which is rare. Also totally love the hood, nice and big, will easily fit over a baseball cap. I highly recommend this jacket!
