They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. Snow in Idaho and rain over in Oregon and Washington They 've been great for driving, job site and walking around, and the waterproofing is top notch. I 've ridden the Harley a couple times with them in and the met guard is no good for that, protects your foot too much to have good connection with the shifter, but for work, these are great.

The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. I received my boots 6- weeks ago and have worn them a dozen times building mountain bike trails in Northern California. The boots are very comfortable, have great traction and warm in cool weather. What I like best about the boots is that I am sure footed when working on steep grades, in mud, and in thick bushes. [ Nike has managed to create their most comfortable dunk low without making it a part of their Nike Skateboarding line. We all know the added padding and comfort that Nike SB's provide and regular dunks seem to be a little stiffer. It's been awhile since I 've worn regular dunks but I 'm happy to report that Nike has improved them tremendously. The tongue has extra thick padding similar to a Nike SB, the inner lining is lined with extra soft materials and the insole is much thicker than in the past. I swear you could mistake these for a Nike SB dunk low. The outsole materials are very premium with the Goretex added and the leather is nice and buttery. You can wear these dressed up or dressed down and still look good no matter what. I 'm still worried about the toe box creasing which is what dunks are known for. I will have to report back once I really put some wear into these. Overall, these are a huge improvement from the old dunks and hope they release them in different colorways. If you 're standing on your feet for work or do a lot of walking, I highly recommend grabbing these for next pair. I can see the whole kitchen crew at a restaurant rocking these. Highly recommend!

[ Goretex really works well with this type of shoe design! I love being able to go out in the rain and being able to just put some dunk lows on while being confident on keeping me warm and dry. It has been raining a lot and these have been holding up quite well. They are a bit stiffer and rigid but hoping it will break in like how dunks usually do. I am glad Nike came out with the Goretex versions and will definitely be a staple especially with winter around the corner!

Work boots, any brand I ’ ve tried many different brands over the years, usually last 2 months a few lasted 3 months but they were destroyed. These are great hiking boots…I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and have hiked hundreds of miles all over the world. Over 40 years of mountain hiking experience, these boots have served me well. Don ’ t pay attention to the troll who posted several negative reviews under different names, his job is to do that and it ’s really not truthful. These trolls are paid to rag others, because their products can ’ t compete. Besides, Columbia would surely warranty any defects. So, I have used many high end hiking boots from top makers costing twice, even three times as much. These are well crafted with good materials, are very comfortable and lightweight. I find no defects and were perfect in every way. Great traction on slippery surfaces, rocks and grades. Waterproof as good as any high quality brand. I 'm very sure no one makes a better boot for the money, even those higher priced offerings. Columbia works very hard at designing and developing fine outdoor merchandise at competitive prices…backed by years of customer satisfaction. What impressed me most was the comfort and quality.

I needed some hiking shoes to hike North Cascades National Park in Seattle. Never had hiking shoes before, but hated that they looked so clunky. I saw that trail running shoes work well for hikes as well and allow your feet to stay flexible. I saw these for sale and gave it a try. Wow. It genuinely provided so much support for hiking and light jogging. I hiked through brush, rocks, gravel, tree roots, grass, and other terrains. I did n't slip a single time and the shoes really cushioned each step. Safe to say, I would have been doomed with regular running shoes. After hiking a few days, the shoes still looked new! They were a bit dusty from the trail itself, though. Treads on the bottom looked new, did n't see any scratches or gouges, laces were not frayed. I got the Gore- Tex variant, so at the end of the hike, I walked into the shallow end of a lake and wiped them off, no water got in. I half- sized up. My regular shoe size is a 9, but I went 9. 5 because I wore thicker socks and appreciate the toe room during hiking as I do n't want my toes banging the front of the shoe. Feet also swell when hiking. All in all, I hiked around 20 miles on this trip as well as walking around city areas, so probably closer to 30 miles. I had no issues whatsoever and would recommend them. If Nike wants to sponsor me for this review, I 'm all ears because they 've won me over with these purposeful shoes.

I got these for shoveling snow, before/after skiing, walking dogs, and other winter use. They 've been very comfortable and provide good grip. Well first off these are Lightweight and at the end of the day you don ’ t feel like a horse shedding a saddle. They slip off and my feet feel great. I did put my arch supports in and these boots picked up where my other Georgia boots left off. The soles of the boots grip well on many surfaces and the tops have a nice feel and not too restrictive also. I ordered a half size bigger, since I wear wool soaks for added cushion on my feet. Now the only draw back is I wish they were a little narrower by a little. These feel like they are wide instead of a standard width. Again, my wool soaks help make up for some of the looseness but it is not a deal breaker by no means. Thus far for everyday work boots for someone who is on their feet a lot on concrete, these have done really well.

Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

I bought these boots about 10 years ago and wear them nearly every day. They have kept my feet dry and warm through 4 North Dakota winters and now the great snowmaggedon of 2016 in New Jersey. Throw snow, dirt, mud, water, or sand at these durable boots and they will tread on like a true champ! [ I bought these shoes for an event coming up in June that will require me to be on my feet for at least 8 hours. At 71 years old I really need them to preform well. As a long time Columbia customer I 'm sure that I wo n't be disappointed. I have n't put them through a full test run but the time that I have worn them I have found them to have great comfort.

Super comfortable right out of the box, a little squeaky on tile and vinyl floors the first few hours I wore them but that quickly went away. Didn ’ t notice a breaking in phase like I do with other boots and the side zip makes them really easy to take on and off. Haven ’ t used them in inclement weather yet but they feel solid and I have no issue wearing them while on my feet for 8+ hours a day. The boots are breathable and with the right socks my feet don ’ t sweat like they did with other boots no matter what I did. Looking like this will be the boot I use for the rest of my career.
